hey how's this drama so far?need some trusted opinions!
It’s worth a try, especially for that masterpiece battle scene in episode 2/3. Acting is top notch too. There’s just something weird about the makeup and scene transitions—but maybe that’s just me lol.
Honestly, it’s hard for me to be unbiased since I read the novel and fell in love with it (really beautiful book with well-written characters and moral dilemma). So I’m a bit salty with some changes in character dynamics and relationships in the drama.
I am so confused... Going on episode 4 isn't this a rebirth drama? Wasn't she supposed to marry Wei Yun and not…
They removed the rebirth in the drama. And in both novel and drama, it was never Wei Yun since he was the youngest. In the novel, Chu Yu was betrothed to Wei Jun when she was just four years old (icky ik) and he was like 9 or something, despite her being closer in age to Wei Yun. So yeah, in both versions, Wei Yun was never like the first choice lol.
Surely there are other ways for her to investigate her father's death instead of marrying a corpse then later…
Totally agree with this. Yeah she's bold and all, but the reason isn't reasoning that much. But I guess she just doesn't care about her reputation since she's well known for eloping with a guy at 15?
people who've watched the first few episodes. Is the show description accurate? I know its based on a novel, but…
Nope. It's the novel synopsis up there. Since they didn't apply the dream/rebirth concept in the drama, they kinda whitewashed some situations while also kinda murkying up FL's reputation to make the plot work as the novel.
Novel: Chu Yu escaped betrothal to Wei heir just to elope and marry Gu Chusheng. GCS treated her like crap so in her rebirth, she changed things up by staying and marrying Wei heir instead.
Drama: Chu Yu eloped with GCS (everyone knows which is awful for her reputation) but GCS left her. At the same time her family had a fell from grace, so she goes Nancy Drew to figure out who betrayed her family got her dad killed and brother injured. She seeks help from Wei Jun and ends up "marrying" him just to continue with the investigation
Can anybody tell me the fl mother and sister will have more screen space .they are so irritating can anybody tell…
we will see more of Chu Jin since she’s got a loveline with Song Wenchang (Wei Yun’s BFF). She will also have a character development and her relationship with Chu Yu will get better especially if they include the Fengling arc.
Honestly, novel Chu Jin was way more wicked lol. The drama is trying to make it look like a typical sibling rivalry. Song Wenchang was also a very annoying character in the book—literally ran away from war. He was just an extra there, but drama team made his character more relevant i guess.
Someone who read the novel[and I still cannot believe i have not read this one. I have read sooo many] Help a…
No. He’s always been in love with the grand princess—at least, in the novel that is. He’s got his own agenda, and for that particular scene, probably helping Chu Yu to gain future support. If u want Major Spoilers, read on below…
Hanmei is actually Zhao Yue, the former crown prince before Emperor Chunde (current emperor) took over the throne. Grand Princess has no idea he is Zhao Yue, because had she known, she wouldve killed him right away to protect her fam despite their childhood connections.
The Baidi Battle scene was so well done!!! Way better than in the novel. They also managed to make each brother relevant in their own lil ways. I’m suddenly really really sorry for Wei Rong…. (Novel spoiler below)
Second ML. In the novel, he’s the dirtbag ex-husband who rises to the top—but then dies and regains past life memory, so he does everything to get his wife back. Very obsessive but also righteous guy. In the drama, he’s probably an ex boyfriend with the same undertones, just without the whole past life memory thingy.
New trailer dropped, finally showing the main conflict which is the sister-in-law/bro-in-law taboo. This angst and moral dilemma was beautifully conveyed in the novel, so I’m really looking forward to how the drama does it. Though gotta admit, part of me hopes they won’t focus on this too much and instead goes deeper into the political conflict instead.
