Probably not as I totally forgot this scene until you mentioned it again and it lasted just like the comedy about finding a tutor for her, the joke was a bit long too. Must dramas have lighthearted or subtle humor or deadpan kind that is not so obvious and charmingly funny to lighten the mood but this drama, the comedy is outright the exaggerated kind that there’s no doubting it’s a comedy.

The best way to see what actors really look like away from screen is to watch their variety shows.

I’m unable to watch remaining episodes after 31 but you mean they have to bring that loser back. He’s such a boring character. Surely there was better use of screen time then to go back to him. I feel he has no meaning to the story. I could care less what happens to him

My least fav character was Mrs Zhou. I just didn’t t feel any emotions from her.

They do it to draw a bigger audience. It’s not so great for fan of ML who watch for them

He’s a promising actor. Only 19 when he filmed this yet his acting prowess matched more experienced actors.

Maybe the main leads are not comfortable doing it. Or the director felt it’s more interesting with second leads.

They purposely gave him softer look in appearance and tone including camera angles and editing. Later they removed softness as he’s no longer at village lived in husband and entered war and politics

I watch it like as if the character is marvel superhero type or those anime games not because she’s strong but because she’s stronger than the man who can fight 10,000 men. Both are comic characters. The character got her strength from slaughtering pigs and her father taught her martial skills and how to use her body to lift twice the weight of what other men can. Her fighting is strategy which explains why she can kill men that no other man could do what she can do. This is way beyond strong and is fantasy character not just her.

I just realized Pursuit of Jade is a dual‑platform drama airing on both Tencent and iQIYI and Dragon TV, as well as on Netflix. With both platforms, the drama would have had a huge budget. It made me wonder: when we compare market share, does being on two platforms automatically give a drama an advantage over another show that’s equally popular but only streams on a single platform? And if a drama also airs during Chinese prime‑time TV, wouldn’t that boost its market share even further?

Douban listed Pursuit of Jade as #6 most anticipated drama for 2026, so that means there was huge anticipation this drama before it aired. It lived up to it.
