yes they announced him
Yeah, I think that’s probably it. The men with him would be shouting and announcing his entry. At the end of the episode, only the pig squad was left, which was intentional. The director has a way of creating moments. There are pros and cons to his style for the actors.

ngl I kind of lol'd when she went on the battle field with a butcher knife
It’s not meant to be realistic or serious—it’s written like the stuff of legends.

How did the men know it was the Marquis arriving on horse when they didn’t even know what he looked like back at camp? Was it his horse, something he carried, his men, or did someone announce him?

Yeah this FL is believable because drama shows you rather than just tell you she’s strong.
She says she’s going to cut off a few ears on the battlefield to prove she actually fought. To her, it’s no different from chopping off pig ears—which, honestly, is a pretty common dish.
And in an earlier episode, she threatened to cut off the bad guy's penis!

The FL’s experience in butchering animals, her strength equal to four men, and her top‑tier sword skills make her a believable and well‑suited candidate for battle duty.

the ML didn't need to stay at the village. He is strong and capable and can even communicate with his people using his falcon. It's probably not the first time that he's been badly injured with all the battles he's been in. It's just that the fell in love at end of ep.1 and didn't want to leave yet. But then he also suspected there was something about her that is linked to the politics because assassins came for her and her sister at the village, not him.

China has two types of dramas. Idol and serious kind. Intl fans are more familiar with idol actors and dramas…
Evernight was Arthur Chen’s entry into Chinese television dramas. Although his father, renowned director Chen Kaige, one of China’s most influential film directors, was not officially credited as a director or producer on the project, it was widely understood that the project had his backing and support, often viewed as part of his guidance for his son's acting career.

I'm sure Arthur Chen, given his family background, will eventually move on to bigger and better things. He's still young though.

Amazing episode the fight scenes were really good and the lie will finally be gone tomorrow so we can move on…
If they haven't done it by now, I doubt they will. It's done intentionally

In my view, the only way this story can end happily is if the female lead also turns out to have high status or noble lineage. The plot has already hinted that her parents were living under false identities, so it wouldn’t be surprising if her background is revealed to be far more significant. In that case, the male lead never actually needed to hide his identity from her—she might even outrank him in the end.

The female lead is written as a legendary, larger‑than‑life force of nature—bold, fearless, and almost invincible, moving through the story with a mythic presence that makes an audience cheer for her.

eh I feel like it's more realistic on how long injuries take to heal especially when you're constantly moving…
Yes — it feels more realistic, but most dramas can’t afford to keep a lead character sidelined for long because the story has to keep moving. In this one, though, the male lead is conveniently injured for long stretches to create romance scenes, so it becomes pretty noticeable. It’s not necessarily a flaw, since viewers can recognize the pattern and still enjoy it, but the pattern is definitely there. Meanwhile, the female lead does get hurt too, yet her character recovers quickly and often come back even stronger than before. One can notice the obvious and still enjoy it, fully aware that it’s intentional, and not take the drama too seriously since it isn’t meant to be a serious one in the first place. It’s a drama built to pull viewers in, heightening emotions and pacing things in a way that keeps people coming back for more. It’s less about realism and more about creating a rhythm that feels addictive.

It’s the classic C‑drama thing where emotional shock disrupts qi flow and suddenly, they’re spitting blood. It’s basically the ancient Chinese version of “my heart can’t take this.

Her world unravels the moment she discovers who the ML truly is, because it means the man she believed was her dependent, live‑in husband no longer needs her support, care and protection at all. She doesn't have to slaughter pigs to provide for him. He's got everything he needs. Maybe that's why he never told her. He wanted her to keep thinking he needs her.

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
I rlly hope he tells her his identity I’m on ep 25 and it’s rlly bugging me cuz I’m unsure of her reaction…
I just saw a clip that seems to indicate she doesn't know his identity until he charges into the battlefield while people all around are yelling, 'The Marquis of Wu’an has arrived!'
She turns around stunned seeing him. I think it's ep. 26/27. Of course, she's mad as hell since she had drugged him and took his place on the battlefield, probably he's still injured and she try to protect him from going himself - she seems to have this impression of him being an ordinary, sickly, and weak man needing her care and protection. She can fight since she is stronger than any man. I think it is precisely that she is so strong that she thinks her husband is weak.

Just started this drama a few days ago and I'm VERY sorry I did because I am staying up too late watching it -…
It doesn't really feel like a historical, just because they are all wearing historical attire. It feels more like a fantasy drama and the romance has a modern feel to it.
