judging from the distribution, I think the score won't change too much. Early on, there were as much as 60% 1 stars which is ridiculous. it's not good for Overdo because I saw someone posted Douban scores of recently aired dramas and many were in the high 6.

looks like Douban believes the 1's more than the 5's. They just scored it 5.1 15% 5 stars is not bad to me. I think the overall low score just means it's polarizing.

this happens to some dramas but I'm noticing they're flooding the Douban with perfect 5's to drown out the 1's. I can't blame them. It'll be interesting how Douban figures out what is real and what is fake. Every rating has issues.
I am very concerned about Xu Kai taking on this brand. I hope nothing bad happens to him because his black marketers…
You seem to repeatedly have low confidence in Xu Kai. Your concerns are valid but overstated, I think. I don't think this is a problem given the precedent that was already set by these two past ALBION brand spokesperson and ambassador. Xu Kai does not have to travel to Japan. They do the photo shoots in China. Zhang Ruoyun (2020) as Brand Spokesperson (to boost brand visibility in China during/after the early pandemic period when people were focusing more on self-care and skincare.) Zheng Yunlong (2022) as Brand Ambassador (released an upgraded version of their famous "Health Water" — their iconic lotion/toner — in 2022 with improved formulas and other new/upgraded products)
Chinese actors and celebrities frequently partner with Japanese brands (cosmetics, fashion, etc.) without career-ending issues, especially for products positioned as premium/luxury in the Chinese market.
ALBION, a high end Japanese high‑end skincare brand with a long, respected heritage, is signing Xu Kai as part of their 70th‑anniversary year celebration. It has a presence in China via ALBION Cosmetics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. I think it's mid-tier but premium or high-end product. ALBION has a good reputation for quality. They use high-quality Japanese ingredients and are manufactured in Japan.
The contract for the past two were 12 months only so I think probably the same for Xu Kai. I think Xu Kai is both Brand Spokesperson and Brand Ambassador. I doubt his agency got it for him. Likely, ALBION probably approached Huanyu and signed the contract for him. His agency gets a cut of course.
Xu Kai will be only the third Chinese celebrity ALBION has signed, and they don't do multi-year contracts. Each time, there is a major business reason. For Xu Kai, they want him for their 70th anniversary campaign. Xu Kai fits their image, maturity and elegance, good reputation, strong traffic.
It's interesting it's telling the brands that select Xu Kai. A while back there was that Paris brand too, and Xu Kai was their first.
Congrats! But this begs the question: What happens to these agreements if Xu Kai doesn't sign?
likely the ALBION contract is for a year and if Xu Kai leaves in August, his team contact ALBION to pay him directly instead of his agency, and he pockets 100% instead of agency taking their cut first.
