I've watched it without watching the movie - some comments say to watch the movie first.
This drama is a nerd's guide to first love relationships. However, the first most difficult part is already achieved - both leads are already dating at the start of the drama. Well⦠kind of, as they are just meeting 1 on 1.
I didn't like the premise - that the brother sells his own sister to his friend for homework π Other than that, it's a very pure and innocent (childish and naive?) view of the first love, so if you're looking for that, you may enjoy it.
I personally felt like watching something written by a child (but maybe that's actually a success?) and produced at the level of some amateur vertical dramas.
The second season feels more serious than the first one.
While the first season was more about exciting emotional romance, the second season was more about facing the expectations of others - parents and society. Confronting those expectations is not easy, and I guess it is much harder in a country like Japan.
From my (boring straight guy) perspective, the first episodes were quite interesting but dragged a bit. The love triangle was weak and unnecessary. I liked the last episodes where the main couple (well, mostly Itsuki) faced problems with other mothers in the kindergarten, although I think its resolution was very optimistic and (unfortunately) not very realistic.
It's not really about sports. It's about youth and romance. The comedy was well balanced and actually funny. It surpassed my expectations. I enjoyed it.
The thing I liked was the progression of romance - for both couples. There were some moments when I liked the second couple's romance more.
This drama dragged a lot for me. There were so many dialogues that were unnecessary or just too long (that's when you press skip in a game π), so I watched most of it on 2x speed.
The story itself was okay, but most of the events were predictable. Sometimes the twists were made obvious in advance, and I just had to wait for them to be revealed.
Acting was good, but a few moments where the FL was distraught with grief were not convincing for me.
The show was average. The romance was weird. Not a typical rom-com romance - at least not for this season alone. The ML had too many flaws, and honestly, I didn't want him to end with the FL. The whole romance between the ML and the FL seems to happen only because they are alone in a parallel world where other males behave like they are asexual.
I didn't find the ending weird or bad, as others suggest. I found it predictable and an okay opening for a next season.
um, if immortals can die, doesnβt that mean theyβre not really immortal? also, I think Iβm finished trying…
Yeah, it's a very common mistake/practice to call the non-aging creatures immortals.
Bai Lu is beautiful, and I think she's good at playing strong female characters. I've watched some of her previous dramas and had nothing to complain about her acting.
However, in this drama it was around episode 5 or 6 where I felt really disappointed with her performance. Those were the scenes where her character was supposed to be suffering and crying. Her acting was not convincing for me, and I think these scenes could've been played a lot better.
After that (at least until episode 20, which I've just watched) there were no scenes like that, and she's doing fine - she's a strong lady falling in love, and that's a role she's played many times before.
Good music and direction - makes the movie interesting and emotional.
I didn't like the story. Basically the boy has to get his ass kicked for a minute so he can listen to the girl he's attracted to. Really? Was that necessary? I expected the girl to tell a story about how she lost her [whatever] because they got their ass kicked for money.
It's interesting that so far no one mentioned the age gap between the leads. FL 47 and ML 22 - I guess if it was the other way around the comments section would be burning π
The secret behind this movie's success is that the real crisis between the ML and the FL lasts a very short time.
While it takes the FL over half of the movie time to grow and deal with her weakness, the ML changes instantly. Right after the FL confronts him, he changes the way she wants him to.
I think the worst thing about this drama is... it's title - as it scares people away π
I was hesitant myself to give it a go but decided to try it because of all the positive comments. The first 2 episodes didn't convince me, but after that the story got better and better.
It was okayish. The humour was okay. Story was predictable. Well, okay there were some unpredictable (mind blowing)…
I liked when the kidnapped princess, instead of running away, just went to sleep on the doorway of the kidnapper's hideout. She was just like "Hey, I'm supposed to be kidnapped here! Get back Mr kidnapper! Oh, okay, I'll just take a nap and wait for you then." π

The only thing that I found a bit weird was how the ML started directly flirting with the FL in their first texts (after he opened her apartment).

Okay... maybe the puke kiss was a bit too crazy ππ

The link has changed but it's still available on that site - and most of all it's in good quality.
