I'm done with the drama... what a good ride this has been!! the ending was unsatisfying but i did enjoy watching anyway :) fellow xz fans see you in sunshine by my side π
zhu yan has literally known zhi yuan since she was young and we can see they have a really close bond. on the…
it wasn't that SY think zhi yuan is bad, he just distrusts him because after all, he thinks zhi yuan is the sea emperor - the revered leader of the merfolk clan who has been planning an uprising for years. he would naturally be skeptical of him. and that piled up with the misunderstandings that occurred in the later eps and the imperial edict given by the emperor for shi ying to kill zhi yuan, he really had no other choice.
i also think zhu yan being so protective of zhi yuan was too much though, but i guess she loved him a lot as a friend and she didn't want to lose him, even to the extent of willing to be labeled as traitor of Kongsang. for the record, zhu yan ACTUALLY did try to explain to shi ying that zhi yuan has no intentions to continue the war but he never gave her the time and was just hellbent on killing him
im also watching this without knowing anything about the novel so i could only offer what the drama has shown me and my views may be different to those who have read it. but i hope this alleviates some of your confusion
cried so badly over da siming's death. shi ying's sole parent figure has already left him. but i'm assured at the fact that at least, DSM got to clear SY and his mother's names, put SY back on the throne as crown prince, and watched him pass the tribulations of hell. his death wasn't in vain. he got to do what he's always wanted and waited for 10+ years. i'm gonna miss this character a lot
I think this drama can be described with these words:Zhu Yan to Shi Ying: Get the information from others, without…
zhu yan has literally known zhi yuan since she was young and we can see they have a really close bond. on the other hand, she only got to know shi ying when she was 15 (meeting him as the crown prince doesn't count bc she didnt know until later). also, shi ying has repeatedly and purposely been sowing discord between them, wanting to cut contact with her so what was zhu yan supposed to do? blindly trust him still? she isn't that stupid.
i do also get frustrated with her sometimes but if you see it from her perspective, you would understand
i suggest you try The Untamed, it was xz's breakout role :)
the untamed is also xianxia like the longest promise, but the world building is more complex. where dreams begin was good too, xz's best drama after TU in my opinion. you should still try :)
also take your time catching a break, this drama will really drain you π₯²
have yet to finish it later at lunch, just had to do express... but tbh i am quite disappointed after shifu resurrected.…
i noticed the awful transitions too π maybe it has something to do with having to make lots of cuts as this was filmed before the 40 ep limitation on cdramas was imposed
ep 36 was too much for my feeble heart... getting to watch shi ying being back to his child-like innocence was pretty heartwrenching π he gets amazed so easily, is a chatterbox, a little clumsy, and yawns like a child... so opposite to the shi ying we've watched for 35 eps. the could have beens had nothing tragic happened to him π
