I'm increasingly wondering if some people even watched the drama properly up to this episode. ML is literally a complete mental wreck—he's on antidepressants and in therapy. On top of that, his best and only friend was murdered, his ex-girlfriend is toxic, his mother is abusive, his manager sees him only as a cash cow, his former fans are out for revenge, and to top it all off, he's suspected of murder and practically treated like a national criminal. The only thing keeping him from a complete breakdown is his lawyer, who was the first person to fully trust him. He always thought she'd approach him without ulterior motives, unlike everyone else in his life, but it turns out she might just be a sassaeng too, willing to do anything to cross his boundaries. I think the creators portrayed his inner turmoil more than convincingly, episode 6 was really well done imo. As a viewer, you need to be able to see these details and connections, have empathy, and some understanding of how mental illnesses work.
Your review is on point with the comparison with Hidden Love, I fully agree with you. It is really creepy and weird to fall in love with someone who was a sibling for your whole life, scientifically it is also hardly possible.
And I can't stand it that grown up female actresses in Chinese dramas (worse than in kdramas) often act like little children... these overly cute voices and faces make them look like cartoons. I was shocked to find out that Esther Yu is already 30s old. With this lip lift, too extreme aegyo eyes and weird voice I couldn't take her serious...But I guess this is a beauty standard in China.
Thanks again for your review, really refreshing and relieving to know other viewers had the same thoughts.
"The FL is your typical grown ass woman acting like a child 24/7 and the ML who's as same age as the actress plays a older brother role who miraculously look same aged to me but the screenwriters refused to think otherwise."
Your review made me laugh, you are so on point. xD It is really well written and I love your sarcastic tone.
I'm not a fan of either Moon Sang Min (after "Wedding Impossible," which was awful) or Nam Ji Hyun (after "100 Days My Prince," which was boring). However, I acknowledge that both deliver good performances here, especially Moon Sang Min's acting, which has improved. Sometimes all it takes is a different co-star.
That said, it bothers me a bit that some people claim Nam Ji Hyun looks too old because of the poor makeup. Of course, NJH doesn't look like she did years ago—she's gotten a bit slimmer and isn't 25 anymore. So it's understandable that makeup might settle into the creases. I'm incredibly glad that these "flaws" weren't erased with ridiculous filters, as is so often the case in K-dramas. I always find it incredibly jarring when you only see baby skin—the characters always seem cartoonish and less alive—in that respect, Western series are ahead of Korean ones. It's a really nice change to finally see some real human skin. Furthermore, it suits her character as the daughter of a slave, who has a very difficult life compared to the prince. Physical labor, poverty, sorrow, and worry shape a person's appearance, character and face.
I know!!! Why do they force this hair on everyone?? It does NOT fit everyone at all... TTvTT Check out If You…
Yup thanks for agreeing! This hairstyle looks awful on almost all male korean actors who are grown ups in their 30s. It is always looks like a desperate way to look younger... why not a nice sleek haircut which shows the forehead?
And yes I also thought that Ji Chang Wook looks nice in If you wish upon me- it was such a good variety (at least on the posters)
Do La Ik is talking more and more since his mental state is getting better throughout the eps... and I must say that I love it. Just realised that Kim Jae Yeoung has such a nice deep smooth voice. Can't wait till he is talking in a more teasing and especially loving and sensual way with Se Na.
I really liked it. I actually watched it every week but without MDL. I think this helped, no whining or bad mouthing or hating from other users. It really helps to watch a drama without negative feelings or any prejudices.
It was not the best drama but I was definitely entertained
I don't understand the wining in this kdrama thread, I enjoyed the drama very much, was the best not....but maybe…

This is a very well written comment which is on point.I would also like to add that there is a term called "limerence"…
Yes finger crossed, I also hope that the development of their relationship will be genuine and convincing, we need to have trust in the production team 🙏
Although I am not a big fan I liked him in Reborn Rich. Was kinda shocking to find out that he has already two kids. Sometimes I wonder if the reason for divorce from SHK were having kids... we will never know the truth
Some people in this comment section are honestly being silly. I saw someone say the FL is no different from obsessive…

I would also like to add that there is a term called "limerence" which might explain the behaviour of the FL better. From Wikipedia: "Limerence is the mental state of being madly in love or intensely infatuated when reciprocation of the feeling is uncertain. This state is characterized by intrusive thoughts and idealization of the loved one (also called "crystallization"), typically with a desire for reciprocation to form a relationship. This is accompanied by feelings of ecstasy or despair, depending on whether one's feelings seem to be reciprocated or not."
The ML met her at her lowest point in her life and literally saved her life from suicide after experiencing so much torture and pain. Being so madly in love with him although she doesn't know him that well is much explained due to these circumstances.
I am pretty sure her infatuation with him will change throughout the drama into a more real and healthy love when she will know him and his real personality- not the one from media or the one she learned and idealised when he was still a high school boy many many years ago.
This is the first drama I've seen with Ji Chang Wook, and I have to say, he looks absolutely dashing in a suit with his hair slicked back. Really handsome.
So I'm all the more disappointed that from episode 5 onwards, he's sporting this terribly unkempt little boy hairstyle that practically every Korean man seems to have these days. This bowl cut that covers his forehead just looks awful... I'm about drop this drama because of it.
I am not a big fan of her but after watching WIWWSK and Her Privae Life I can understand why she is called as Romcom-Queen. Her acting in these kind of dramas is always so on point and charming without being cringey or forced. And she never disappoints when she kisses her co-stars.
Also...
I honestly don't know any other actress who can walk that femininely and confidentiality on stilettos. Wish I had at least an ounce of her elegance.
I actually loved this drama, it's very well-written and thought provoking. A lot of people seem to have an issue…
Very well said. It is not your typical fluffy korean romcom where is everything is black and white. Thats why I loved it so much, this drama has so much depths like a well written poem.
Normally I would agree with you but in that case his behaviour
is easily explained.
