Finally completed. It was a good watch; rated it with 7. The main villain, Yeon Ji, outplayed the whole crew - she is a terrific actress. Overall it was better than the 1st part, the pacing much better and not so many fillers. The best thing: finally a kdrama without stupid beauty filters so you could finally see the pores and the skin of the actors. All of them looked suddenly so much more human. Unfortunately because of the time gap it was kinda unsatisfying to watch the 2nd part after a long time. There weren't many surprises so you could anticipate what was coming. The last one episode was boring and not much felt chemistry between the leads. Also some conclusions were a bit messy. And once again unnecessary ecchi stuff as fan service to get more attention...
At first I didn't know how to rate it. After all it is based on true events. I ended up with 9.0.
The acting is topnotch; especially from the childactors. Some scenes were really hard to watch; things like the bathrooms scene with the two brothers were to explicit and unnecessary... it is kinda unbelievable as non Korean that things like this happened in a developed country like SK in the 21st century. But after googling I have found out that there is still corporal punishment in some korean cities. Combined with the strict hierarchy, discipline and obedience the probability for abuse is high. I only recommend it if you can watch violence against children and if you want to see another (dark) side of korea which is hardly shown in many todays feels good dramas which only show the glamorous and dazzling life style in SK.
Usually I don't like watching romcoms. But this one is so refreshing and unique; can't wait till the 5th epsiode is released in my country. It is just off putting that the coaching industry and toxic moms have so much Influence... is it really that bad in Sk?
Btw, I don't get the hate against the FL. I love that there is finally a cool and mature middleaged FL in a Kdrama who isn't dolled up like many korean actresses. And she doesn't look that much older than the ML. Though his face is smooth you can clearly see the wrinkles around his thin lips and that he is in his 40th. I think they are quite good match.
Currently watching the 6th episode and here my honest opinion:
I like this FL more than the one from the 1st season, I thinks she suits more as a partner for the ML (and the age gap is not so big). Her acting is solid and her looks are fresh and natural. Apart from that this season is worse than the one before. So far it is a borefest, fillers over fillers, painfully slow pace, villains almost nonexistent and too much unsuitable humour. I will finish it but hard to believe this drama could get such a high rating.
The FL is Im Yoona, and like Junho, she's also an idol-actress who's the center, visual, and lead dancer of Girls…
Your are so right: I also usually try to stay away from comment sections because of negativity or fights between fans... but so far here are many positive vibes. thank you also for your kind replies; as a non Kpop fan I was glad for all those interesting facts🙂
There's almost no Knetz on this site so I don't think you'd get much hate. It left a bad taste in my mouth too
Thanks for your reply. I thought I am the only one who noticed this. People on this site sometimes gets really angry when there is criticism towards korean shows/dramas and especially if the criticism is towards korean culture and social problems...
The good thing: interesting introduction and nice to see so many korean women who don't look like the typical slim korean actress.
The bad: why did not the only black guy Miracle get a proper introduction in the first ep while the both white guys Florian and Dustin got much more screen time? I am sorry but this just leaves a bad taste in the mouth and fits to the narrative how korean people treat black immigrants. Will continue but the disappointment is there... I will receive much hate for this comment but I don't care.
how can such trash get 1# in movies? netflix userbase must have shit taste, or the rankings are fake
Some people will hype anything as long as it is from SK. Just look at mdl: bad korean movies/dramas always have higher rating than bad productions from other countries...
I watched this movie without having any expectations. It was a okayish watch; the main characters did their respective roles very well and plot itself wasn't that unrealistic with AIs. The mother-child-bond was also well fitting. It was just a little bit short and sometimes confusing, the beginning too slow and I missed a nice twist at the end. So rated it with 5.5.

Oh thanks a lot once again for the detailed clarification ❤I didn't know that Yoona is that popular in China!
Seeing the first official foto of both I am so pumped up for the drama, I just hope they'll release it sooner and not in June. Here is the instagram fan account of the drama, there are some interesting shots from the set: https://www.instagram.com/kingtheland_drama/
