Wait, The Hope with Zhang Ruo Yan? Everywhere I've looked says it was filmed from July to November 2022.. Or is this a different one? 10 years is an awfully long time...

The main leads both die, as do most of the other main characters. They are all together in death. (the final scene is a little ambiguous though and some people take it to mean the leads may have survived somehow, which is fine too. but the general consensus was this part was a "dream")

Personally I think the main leads both dying is a better ending than one of them living without the other - and considering how close the secondary characters are the same goes for them. But it's obviously not going to be for everyone. I thought it was worth it.

There are a few big ones. But most of it is actively lying to each other, which is a little different than misunderstandings in my opinion.

Unlikely, unfortunately. Season 2 has already been filmed. All 60 episodes were filmed together. So the ending is in the can. There's already been bts footage of it and the actors have already openly talked about it. Tan Jian Ci even talked about how emotional it was doing the dubbing for his final scenes. It's obviously not the ending I'd prefer, even when I read the novel. But I can't see them changing it. The title references more than just one character.

Both. It really happened 10,000 years ago AND its a dream lol.

Basically the dragon is the god of war, Ming Ye. He is experiencing his own past on a loop within the dream. (Reliving the memories over and over again) Tantai Jin, Ye Xiwu/Susu (and Xiao Lin and Bingchang) all fall into this dream where they take on the roles of those characters inside it and experience the past as if it actually were them.

If it makes you feel better, I don't think it was 16 episodes of lost content.
The leaked script had 40 episodes. But they were super long and dense scripts which is why it ballooned up to 50 in total. The airing licences Otters obtained in early 2023 was for 34 episodes for part 1 and 16 episodes for part 2. Due to the rule about the two parts having to air separately they repackaged the episodes and made them all 10-15 minutes longer ( 50-60 minute long episodes instead of 40-45) Someone on reddit did the math and it's something along the lines of 4-7 episodes of content cut. Which is still way too much for my taste but at least it's not 16-18 episodes (Small blessings I guess? 🤣)

I still hope we might get a directors cut one day like Goodbye My Princess got. Where they can edit it back in. Wishful thinking. lol 😅 but it'd be nice!

It's an open ending. So it is very sad and emotional, but there is hope at the end. Basically, the ML dies, sacrifices himself thinking there is no way back. It is a true selfless act. However, the final scene shows that part of his essence was saved by an item that's been prevalent throughout the drama and we see him cultivating inside. Implying that he may be able to return one day and the FL is waiting for him. Only, as it's an open ending, it's left up to the audience to decide.

His soul was saved in a similar way in the novel this is based on and he eventually returned after 1,000 years and the FL never stops looking for him, so many feel the implications are the same, even if they didn't show it.

But because we don't see it, it's still sad and bittersweet.

Yes this drama has a lot of angst. A LOT. Chemistry is incredible.

I dont think there is a female lead in the traditional sense. Perhaps Jelly lin's character might be one of the more prominant female character's but it's very much a male centric drama. And while the ml does have a bit of a thing for her (from what I have read) its not romance focused.

I know. It was so hard to believe. He's so beautiful and her character was supposed to love him and yet every time it looked like it was the last thing she wanted to be doing. I knew what her kiss scenes were like in other dramas so I wasn't expecting much, but they were worse than I was expecting. I'm not sure i'd call it kissing because she did not respond in anyway whatsoever. 😂

But I also like her .... so I hope it's something she grows a little more comfortable with. We shall see!

Zhang Ruonan is really adorable, but her kiss scenes are often really awkward from what I've seen of her. A date with the future was pretty awkward, but the worst i've seen of her was in Love is Panacea. She did not seem like she wanted to be kissing LYX at all, which did take you out of the romance a little bit at times.....

Maybe it will be better in this one haha.

I wasn't a huge fan either. But I thought she was good in Lost You Forever. Tan Jian Ci as Xiang Liu is also a revelation. Made me a big fan of him.

It was intentionally written that way (and was much worse in the novel. the drama is downright sappy in comparison) Given the circumstances it makes sense. It starts with him slaughtering everyone and her trying to kill him. 😂

That being said, I would argue that it was less misunderstandings (except for that one big one) and more outright intentionally lying to each other with these two leads haha.

I love that it was so turbulent and messy in that way, but understandably, it's not going to be to everyone's taste. So that's fair enough.

I absolutely love this drama but I would still agree that what they did with Du Lei in the last few episodes was weird. He was an "antagonist" kind of character throughout the whole drama but they turned him full blown insane villain. he seemed to come back to sanity somewhat right at the end but .... still. I really don't think it was necessary that they did that to his character. It was definitely a bit shocking.
