Im up to episode 11-12 (where they are trapped in the dream), can someone tell me what episode this "dream arc"…
It finishes in the first half of episode 18. But it's a beautiful arc, and is important for character growth. For example, their development afterwards might seem somewhat abrupt without the context of what they experienced during this arc.
It also provides information about the ancient devil god, the past war with the gods, and things that come into play later on. I wouldn't skip it personally.
They could have make this a longer drama if they wanted to add so many events but they didn't. Otherwise, it s…
I don't feel like it needed 55-60 episodes though, that might end up being a lot of unnecessary filler. 45 episodes probably would have been sufficient. unfortunately, having a second season of 5 episodes probably wasn't going to work. haha. Oh well....
This is why I think the cap should be at least 45 episodes instead of 40.
Some people who are unhappy with the ending will downvote it. Even if they loved the rest of the drama. (which considering how high the rating was, many did) It's just how it is. In the past i've watched people go from saying they loved a drama to saying the entire thing is trash and starting hate campaigns against it, simply based on an ending. So this doesn't surprise me.
It's fair enough that not everyone is going to like or be satisfied with every facet of the last few episodes though. Different opinions and all that.
I feel for you. I have just come to MDL because I heard about the ending. I am pretty sure I won't be watching…
This drama was never going to be light entertainment. That was obvious from the trailers. It had the whiff of, at least a certain amount, of doom from the very beginning. Beautiful doom imo. lol. It was fun. It's worth it.
They could have make this a longer drama if they wanted to add so many events but they didn't. Otherwise, it s…
There's a 40 episode limit on dramas now. So if they wanted to make it longer they would have had to split it into two parts and air it separately. (like what Lost You Forever is doing) I think unless absolutely necessary, most creative teams and producers are going to be hesitant to do that from now on.
So they all died and went to the after life together :(. Who was the little boy in white at the end talking to…
Ning Shi San and his sister Ren Lu are implied to be Ruyi and Ning Yuan Zhou's children. So either they faked their deaths and went into seclusion and had two kids, or they are all dead (as I figured) and this is also a part of an illusion of Chu Yue's. But why she would be imagining a child of two people she wasn't actually close with instead of Yu Shi San, I don't know. That part doesn't really make sense to me tbh. If anyone was going to have such an illusion it would have been Yang Ying who was close to the leads and the entire delegation and knew of their plans to have babies.
The other interpretation people have is that she has died and is being lead to the afterlife to join everyone but again, not entirely sure why people assume she has died or why a child that never existed would be the one to lead her there instead of just Yu Shi San lol. But that also works well as an ending too, imo.
So pick whatever version of the ending you prefer, it will be correct. As was the intention I think.
It's a clear cut sad ending. Dont be delulu, it's not a HE. I am feeling sad all the main casts died painfully.…
Yeah, I agree. If anyone was going to have an illusion about the leads and their children it would have made more sense for it to be Yang Ying.... She was there from the beginning, she knew about their plans to have a baby, she has strong ties to them both and the rest of the delegation to a much higher degree than Chu Yue, who didn't really know them that well. So it was definitely a really odd choice, if that is what they were going for.
I think it is very clear that everyone died. None of them could have survived the fatal injuries they were dealt.…
Well I definitely don't think there's a "xianxia" realm in this drama. I literally went into this drama thinking all of these characters were going to die and I was right. So... not really that sad to be honest. I enjoyed it. For the most part it played out the way I thought it would. Except for the somewhat ambiguous final scene.
While not a "xianxia realm" Perhaps an afterlife of some kind , otherwise what exactly where they hinting at with Chu Yue? This may be historical but it's also a fantasy historical wuxia. This is obviously not the real world. As I said, they fly and basically have superhuman powers to some degree lol. So where was fake spirit boy leading her? I think that element is a bit hokey and is one of the reasons I get where people are coming from when they say they don't believe that part was an illusion.
Meh, as I said, however you see it. It works as an ending and was beautifully done imo. I'm not sad at this ending, but I am sad the drama is over.
It's a clear cut sad ending. Dont be delulu, it's not a HE. I am feeling sad all the main casts died painfully.…
I definitely didn't think it was a HE. even if you do interpret it as the leads faking their deaths - that is still not a HE as the rest of the delegation still died. However to me it was clear that it was an intentionally ambiguous ending in regards to what was real and what wasn't.
I like both interpretations and think they're both valid. I thought the idea that they're all dead but together was a beautiful one and literally what I predicted coming into this. That being said.... they would not have added the scene with the boy, Ning Shi San (and his sister Ren Lu), if they didn't want people to question whether the leads made it out alive or not. They just wouldn't have added that at all. Especially as those characters started the drama having faked their deaths. It circles back to where they started. They intentionally left it so people would question that and decide for themselves.
I still don't see why Chu Yue would be imagining a child of two people she wasn't all that close with instead of Yu Shi San. Where does the illusion start and end. It was very clear that she knew that delegation on horseback was her imagination - but does she know Ning Shi San is not real? Are the soldiers she was with also with not real? - it's just a very odd thing no matter how you look at that. So definitely not clear cut.
As I said, I really like both interpretations and think they're both kind of bittersweet rather than flat out tragic. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.
I think it is very clear that everyone died. None of them could have survived the fatal injuries they were dealt.…
If it was clear nobody would be questioning what was real and what wasn't. lol If they wanted it to be 100% clear that Ruyi and NYZ didn't fake their deaths, they wouldn't have had Chu Yue hallucinate an imagined child of people she wasn't that close to, and imply to her and the audience that he is the child of RR and NYZ. Especially as the child was talking specific details about living close to the academy and things about their parents. So while the images of the delegation on horseback are definitely illusion, Ning Shi San is up for debate. They left the question mark there.
If she were dying It would have made more sense for her to imagine Yu Shi San taking her, not a child that never existed in reality. So It seems this was an intentionally ambiguous ending. With two different interpretations aimed at attempting to satisfy everyone lol.
I predicted they would all die and still think this is not a bad ending at all - as they would all be together. I think that's quite beautiful really. However, the other interpretation is also there. They started the drama having both faked their deaths so it would actually be fitting that they ended the drama faking their deaths in the same way. (especially as we never actually see them "die" on screen. Which was again probably intentional) It's not out of the realm of possibility in a drama where people have the ability to transform through the use of skin masks, magically heal each other and have magical "life saving pills".
I figure there is actually no right or wrong answer and this ending was made so audiences could decide what ending they would prefer. Whatever ending you want, is the correct one. I actually don't mine either. Both are very fitting.
They're not dead he's their son. They also have a daughter.
We never see him actually die for starters, or his body. We have seen characters survive a lot of things they shouldn't have in this drama. A drama where they fly, magically heal each other and use human face masks to transform into other people. You don't need to put real world limitations on what people can and can't survive haha. He was also given a life saving pill in an earlier episode.
It's possible they did all die (which is a beautiful ending too, because that way they are all together) but they definitely also imply that Ruyi and NYZ may have faked their deaths. Again. (Something they both have a history of doing) It's an ambiguous ending for a reason. So that audiences can decide for themselves.
I really don't mind either interpretations but I maintain that Chu Yue hallucinating an imaginary child of two people she wasn't that close with doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Especially the unnecessary details about where his home is, (near the academy, a certain distance away etc etc) about his sister, his mother and father etc.
The delegation on horseback once again - definitely illusion. Ning Shi San? hmm. not necessarily. ambiguous.
1)is there love triangle? if there how much deep it is ?2)when do leads will be together3)is there any breakup?…
1. Not really. Not with any of the main leads. There is one sided obsession directed at the FL but it is never reciprocated. So not a love triangle 2. Leads get together around episode 13 3. There is a brief breakup around episode 17or 18 but it doesn't last long. It's not a real breakup so much as them taking some time to think about what they really want for their future. It only lasts a handful of episodes. 4. ....not a happy ending in a traditional sense. It's hard to explain without spoiling. Bittersweet at best because of what happens to many of the characters.. The final scene is a little ambiguous about what it means for the leads. Many people here have different interpretations. I think both of the main interpretations are valid and beautiful for different reasons. But again, I can't really explain without spoiling. So it's up to you how much you want spoiled.
Some thoughts about the different interpretations of the final scene.
I don’t see why so many people are completely refusing to accept other people's interpretations of that ending. Speaking their own interpretation as though it is a fact rather than their own perception. If it was all 100% clear, people wouldn't be having discussions about what was real and what wasn't. The only thing that is pretty clear to me is that this was an intentionally ambiguous ending, haha. Probably to promote discussion.
Prefacing this by saying. The interpretation that they are all dead is not a bad ending to me. It was actually the ending I predicted going into it. In a way, I find this interpretation quite beautiful despite being sad. Because they are actually all together. Wherever you believe we go afterwards they are all together forever - or at least until their next life. They don’t have to miss or mourn each other. That’s a lovely thought.
However, this is definitely not the only valid interpretation. The writers and director definitely wanted to leave audiences with the idea that Ruyi and NYZ may have faked their deaths and escaped. Otherwise they would not have presented that scene in the way they did. There are so many other ways they could have Chu Yue mourn and think of the delegation, and have us see that they're all together in death without having an imaginary child come up to her, tell her unnecessary details about his home, where it is, his sister and his parents etc etc. Implying to her that they're still alive. This was added in because they wanted people to question it. Because they wanted people to think “Oh, wait, ARE they still alive?” As I've said in other comments. These are two characters who both started off the drama faking their death. Narratively speaking, it would make complete sense for the drama to end with them doing the same thing once more. They faked their deaths to escape - but this time they are not alone. They are together and at peace. When it comes to their wounds. We never saw them “die” we never saw their bodies. This is a fantasy historical where people heal each other and use human face masks to change into other people. It’s not the real world.
Personally, I don’t really understand why Chu Yue of all people would be imagining a fake child of people she wasn’t that close with. I feel if she was going to imagine anyone it would be Yu Shi San himself. And this is one of the reasons I somewhat question the idea that it was all illusion. If Yang Ying was the one in that scene. I’d definitely be leaning towards it being her imagination.
However, I really do believe both of these interpretations are correct. And I've seen so many people who seem very black and white about the fact that they’re definitely dead. It is far more likely that they left it so there is no right or wrong answer. That whatever ending the individual wants, is the correct one.
Personally, I’m satisfied with both interpretations.
It also provides information about the ancient devil god, the past war with the gods, and things that come into play later on. I wouldn't skip it personally.
He's also very handsome. 😊
