Haven't got around to watching One Piece yet.really hoping atleast one drama of his airs before the end of the…
I was really hoping for Love is Panacea before the end of the year but the more time that passes without it getting its distribution licence, the less likely it seems. π We don't even have a trailer yet . Youku are being stingy with this one haha.
Okay, I just finished episode 40. I really enjoyed the drama but I really wish the immortals would have discovered…
If it makes you feel better, in the original script there actually was a scene where Gongye Jiwu realised what TTJ's plan all along was etc. Unfortunately it was cut, with a lot of other scenes in that last episode, because of the new 40 episode regulations. But even though the scene was cut , I'm still taking that as canon! Besides, there is no way Susu didn't tell everyone. Would have been nice to see it...
and yeah, many of us like to believe he will return one day. They hinted at the novel's epilogue (a happy ending) so they certainly implied the possibility of it. He thought that by destroying the evil bone it was over for good (a true self-sacrifice) but he didn't know the heart-guarding scale saved the purified part of essence while only the part that was the devil god dissipated. π π
Not sure if you've seen these videos Youku released around, but they kind of validate that interpretation. it's not a definitive ending... but it's still nice to think about haha.
Iβm watching My Journey to you and v interested in the 2nd couple. Here acting fr both 2nd ML and 2ndFL completely…
I felt the same. I liked the 2nd couple. They were a lot more interesting. I was disappointed with the ML too...The character itself was not particularly engaging to begin with, but the performance itself was also a little weak.
Hugzzz, honestly if you watch on, the hurt doesnβt get better and we get invested deeper which hurts. But we…
Yep, the ending was a tough one for a lot of us to swallow. They do hint at the novel's epilogue where they are eventually reunited, but they didn't complete it. They felt the bittersweet open ending better fit the tone of the drama and promotes more discussion. I guess they're not entirely wrong as we're all still here talking about it. But I still would have liked to have seen it....π
here are a few things that may soothe your heart a little, if you're one who wants to lean towards the more optimistic side of the open ending.
Really? I thought they recently listed it as being part of their 2024 lineup? I'll be so happy if we do end up…
I mean it also says 2023-2024 line-up. So technically speaking, late this year is still possible. π I really really want it this year but I think they've got a few other drama's lined up for the latter part of the year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I just started it but i seriously can't get enough. I'm loving every minute of it. The story, the visuals, everything…
Glad you're enjoying it. I got invested pretty much straight away too - and still obsessed all these months later. It's the kind of drama that stays with you.
LYX and Bai Lu really do have amazing chemistry. If you're wanting more of them after finishing TTEOTM they have another drama together too "Love is Sweet". Which is just about as far away from TTEOTM as you can get, (it's a romantic comedy) but the chemistry between them is just as good.
No. I didn't think so. Which part did you find it was overacting?
Perhaps because Li Susu is pretending to be someone else? She is not acting like herself in the beginning. She is trying to maintain her cover and act how (or at least how she thinks) the original Ye Xiwu acted, especially towards the ML. So maybe you're picking up on an "over the top" feeling from that.
Does anyone felt 1st few eps like a cringe and little overacting from Mainleads π π
No, not at all. In fact, one thing I like about this drama is how nuanced the acting is. It feels a lot more natural to me than some others I've seen.(especially as high-fantasy) I will say that the first few episodes had quite a bit of exposition by way of narration which was a little much. But I didn't consider the acting of the leads overacting. It's got some of the best acting I've seen.
1.Original novel ending??2.How Mainleads had Son???3.When FL Started to like ML???
1. Novel had two endings. First ending at the tombs. The epilogue was set 1,000 years later. Li Susu never gives up hope that he will return one day and continues to search for him. She and their daughter Tantai Zimi eventually find him reincarnated in the mortal realm. Part of his soul was salvaged and this allowed him to be reborn. The family is reunited and they return home together. Drama just had the first part of this epilogue but hinted and left it open for the rest.
2. How did the main leads have a daughter? They had sex. Lol. The old fashioned way... with a slight twist. In episode 39 ML created a false world of ye mansion for them to step into. Where they proceeded to have one last night together. The world around them was constructed by TTJ but as far as their bodies go, it was real. (Or real enough to conceive a child)
3. Tough one to answer as it wasn't one specific moment where she started to like him. It happened gradually without her even realising it. There was a spark of something building from quite early on. (Episode 4-9 showcased this the most) But as far as really falling in love, it was probably after they came out of the dream arc (episode 18-28) and they spent time together in Jing Kingdom where he was emperor. The "act" became real. She loved and hated him at the same time.
It's an open ending. So its sad but also hopeful. Do you want more details?
Haha no problem. Sometimes its good to have an idea ahead of time. Basically one of them does die - it's a sacrifice to save the world kind of deal. It's obviuously very sad. The finale scene shows that part of this characters soul or essence has been saved by an object that has been prevalent throughout the whole drama. Leaving it up to the audience to decide what happens next. Some may see it as a full BE if they prefer But it also hints at the possibility of a rebirth and reunion one day. (Which actually does happen in the novel. So they hint at the novel's epilogue but dont complete it.)
Hopefully this wasnt too many spoilers for you. π
It's worth it though imo. The drama is too good. But i get that this kind of ending isn't going to be for everyone
In addition to Micha's comment, Jize said that he knew Ye Xiwu because he had seen through time and saw Li Susu's…
There is not one set moment that she fell in love with him. It happened gradually and it happened without her even realising it. I would say she started feeling something as far back as their time in ye mansion but according to the actress (Bai Lu) she fell in love during jing kingdom arc. Without a doubt she was in love with him by the time of the water festival The "act" became real. She often lied about her feelings. When she tells him she never loved him while using the soul slaying nails Etc.. well that was a blatant lie. (Again confirmed by Bai Lu)
she loved him and hated him ( just as he loved and hated her too.) But despite these feelings she was never going to be able to stop her mission in killing him. Not when the fate of the entire world rested on that decision. She could not take that risk. Which is why it is so tragic.
A very conflicted messy love between them. But one that, by the end of the final episode, had reached a place of understanding. It was no longer conflicted anymore.
And if you lean towards the more optimistic side of the open ending, a love that might have a chance to start over properly when he is eventually reborn now that they are free from the baggage of the devil god.
And he killed her *real* father. The one that raised her.

Bai Lu's Li Susu letter to Tantai Jin. Validates the interpretation that she's still searching for him and waiting for his return.

A sweet little audio snippet Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi did of Li Susu's and TTJ's eventual reunion
Then, if your interested, Micha has translated the Happy Ending chapters of the novel here, on the discussion boards.
Did you have a favourite moment in the drama? (ignoring the heart-wrenching finale of course haha)

Each to their own though!
