Sometimes I wonder if maybe they have their eye on an IP already (even if nothing is settled yet) the way they talked about what they wanted out of a hypothetical suspense plot during TTEOTM press was really detailed. I know this is wishful thinking... but I do wonder. 🙏🙏🤣

Yeah, I saw that too. From what i've seen, it seems to be a very common mindset in China. Probably why there are so many sad, or ambiguous open endings out there.

Title Till the End of the Moon Spoiler
I respect your opinion. But I completely disagree with pretty much everything you wrote about Li Susu haha. I…
I don't think she found the whipping cathartic at all. She seemed horrified by it (and herself) more than anything else to be honest. But even if she did find some element of catharsis in it, I completely understand why. Same with the other instances you listed. I'm not saying it's something I would approve of in general, but this is fiction and therefor I appreciate these elements as part of the story, regardless of the morality of it. Honestly, I don't even know how i'd act if I was in her situation. If I went back in time and came across the man who murdered my Aunt for example, when he was still innocent and hadn't yet done anything - would I be conflicted? would I be hateful towards him? Probably. I guess that's not morally correct, but it is what it is.

As for the snow situation. I mean, SHE didn't push Bingchang into the lake or punish him for helping her. it was OG Ye Xiwu. I'm not sure you can place that blame on Li Susu.

She left him out on the ice for a myriad of reasons. Because she felt she had to maintain her cover as OG Ye Xiwu AND because she was still conflicted and vengeful about what happened in the future. I think you're right about that. But personally, I feel it would have been pretty unbelievable for her not to wrestle with that decision for a bit and have her immediately jump to save him and bring him inside, whether that was the right or moral decision or not. Had she done that I probably would have rolled my eyes and would have been incredibly put off by it as a viewer. It would not have made sense to me at all. I much prefer the route they went down instead.

And yeah, she does often jump to the conclusions in the story. I agree with that too. I also never said she didn't treat him poorly at times. I just didn't see it as "torture for 40 episodes" and I didn’t hate her as a character for these reasons. In fact, these elements make me enjoy the story, their characters and their romance even more. I LIKE that she had these flaws. She absolutely was conning him to complete her mission too. I’m not disagreeing with that. I just understand why and it didn’t bother me as a viewer. I liked that she didn’t throw away her mission. I liked the duplicity of “tricking him” while also falling for him despite herself. Hell, I am here for the schemes. *chefs kiss* I think the story would have been lesser without these elements.

This is coming from someone who considers Tantai Jin their all time favourite character. So, it’s not because I prefer the female lead over him or anything like that. I just didn’t find her “the most hateful character ever” like the OP did. I also didn't think she didn’t have any progression or growth or that she was undeserving of his love. I found her flawed but an interesting and ultimately good character that I understood.

and I still buy their love 100%. It wasn’t always nice, it wasn’t always healthy, but damn, did it appeal to me. And though it definitely didn't start of that way, by the end of the drama, I do believe they had reached a place of understanding and purity in their love. It wasn't conflicted anymore.

Would I feel the same way if the positions were reversed? Absolutely I would. Because I love these kinds of characters and stories regardless of their gender. And the truth is – male characters ARE often that way and are still just as beloved.

again, this is just my personal feelings of it - which is why I reiterated that it's completely okay that the OP (and you of course) didn't feel the same. I just didn't agree with it.

Somebody recommended me to watch this drama. Is it really that good and does it have a happy ending? I just finished…
As others have already said. The ending is complicated. If you're anything like us here, it will make you very emotional. It's sad, but hopeful too.

There is so much to love in it. Beautiful costumes, a very intense storyline. And frankly some unbelievably good acting from the leads. To the point that a lot of what I've watched since hasn't been hitting in quite the same way. If you like the darker elements of MJTY, this could up be your alley (albeit with a heavy dose of Xianxia/high fantasy goodness)

I would recommend giving it a go. You'll probably know within the first 5 or 6 episodes if it's something you'll be interested in.

Nobody does it like them. This is why I can't move on from this drama. Nothing is hitting me like this atm. This is also why we need them to do a third drama. Seriously, just imagine this level of acting in a suspense. They would absolutely kill it.

thank you for expressing your opinion. Even if I fundamentally disagree with it haha. I didn't really see it as torture personally. ( & what she did do - I understood her reasoning) Except the pain from the soul-destroying nails that is. But in that case, he also tortured her. By putting on an act, pretending to be taken over by the devil god, and throwing her into the lightening array in his place to get her to ascend. He, in essence, also tortured her in order to save the world.

If anything, I feel like she saved him. And he saved her too.

Feel free to stick around and talk with the rest of us moonies about anything if you want to. We're all quite friendly here with a wide range of opinions.

I respect your opinion. But I completely disagree with pretty much everything you wrote about Li Susu haha. I…
Again I completely disagree with everything you just wrote. But that's okay. haha

I did not see her torture him through all 40 episodes. Did she always treat him well, absolutely not. But he didn't always treat her well either.

She did have an ulterior motive. that is true. But that doesn't mean she didn't fall in love with him for real as well. My own mother is in her 60s, never watched C-Drama let alone a Xianxia, and she was watching those episodes with me during the Jing arc. She turned to me and said "She has fallen in love for real - it's not an act anymore." (also confirmed by Bai Lu)

At the water festival we hear her say she wanted to tell him the truth so that she could "stay with him forever and protect him" - that's not an act anymore. That's not hate. She did want to destroy him at one point - But only because she felt that was the only way to save the entire world. In her mind, she couldn't risk the entire world just because she fell in love with him.
And then you factor in the fact that she planned on dying with him at the end and would have had he not sent back with the heart-guarding scale. I 100% bought into her love for him.

I think it was an almost unbearably beautiful, love story - it just wasn't a NICE one. It was conflicted, obsessive, unhealthy and painful at times. (before reaching a place of pure love and understanding between them at the end) I prefer this kind of romance for my media. It borders on the gothic and I find it far more entertaining and emotional than the more sappy 'love conquers all' stories in other dramas. In some ways I found it far more realistic, despite the over the top aspects of it.

But again, each to their own. We're never all going to perceive things the exact same way. (this is probably a good thing, Discussion would be boring if we all agreed on every single little thing)

What is it about the FL that triggered you? What does she need to redeem?
Just need to mention. "Starting from when she turned demon and decided not revive her clan" - That wasn't Li Susu/Ye Xiwu. That was Sang Jiu. A completely different person unrelated to Li Susu's character. We only saw her as Ye Xiwu because she took on that role when she went into Bo're Life, but they were not in any way the same person. (The original Sang Jiu wouldn't have looked the same in the actual timeline either)

Ok, it was great work, ML and Luo Yun Xi, the character` development and portrayal are just so awesome you cannot…
I respect your opinion. But I completely disagree with pretty much everything you wrote about Li Susu haha.

I think she was an amazing character. I completely understood where she was coming from 95% of the time. When the fate of three realms is literally resting on your shoulders - I totally understand the choices she felt she had to make, regardless of her love for him. I felt she had a lot of character growth. I am so glad we have a female character that was given this much depth and was allowed to not be "perfect". Because as much as I love Tantai Jin, he was far from perfect too. It's why I love them both so much.

I empathized with both her and Tantai Jin, they were both put in an unfair and shitty situation from the beginning and I felt for both of them. I love them both as individual characters, and I love their love story even more. With all it's angst, all of it's toxicity, and ultimately it's purity - I loved every facet of it.

But each to their own, of course!

Moonies, this day just got even better! Someone made the HE edit, using the voice from the audio drama with scenes…
Aww, I love this!! Thank you for sharing it!

This is the (eventual) ending as far as I'm concerned. Even if we didn't get to see it.

Those lines from the epilogue always get to me. You just know Bai Lu would have done justice to them if they had chosen to show it.

I can't believe I was SOBBING over this drama just months ago. At the time I was waiting for the pain and grief…
I definitely haven't "moved on" from the drama in general because i'm still here obviously haha.😅 but I came to terms with the open ending by looking at the more hopeful interpretation. Like Bai Lu's Li Susu letter says; she's waiting for his return and searching for him. They'll be reunited one day, even if it takes a 1,000 years.

So Li Susu hasn't given up on him and neither have I. (even though we'll never get to see it.) 🤣 💜

I can't even come to this comment section to see new watchers response nd thoughts cuz it's full of crap unrelated…
Most of the people have been here for months now. We have had endless discussions about the drama. Literally about every single aspect of it at this point. So if some people seem to go off topic and talk about other things as well sometimes, that is why.

However, we still talk about the drama too, and anytime someone new comes here and starts a conversation about the drama, we are always more than happy to engage. Some of the new or late watchers have stuck around and are now regulars here too.

You could also start a topic on the discussion boards too if you would like.

Did you have a favourite moment or scene in the drama?
