As Joas already said it's an open ending. So it was left up to the audience decide what it means and what happens next. In part very sad, in part hopeful. Given what I know of the novel, and other videos Youku have released, I kind of see it in more of a hopeful way. Other people see it differently. It's not a traditional happy ending though.

If you want specifics. The ML sacrifices himself to save the world, thinking there is no way back for him. 500 years pass, FL is still grieving and reminiscing about him and arguably searching/waiting. We see in the final shot that a part of him (his soul or essence) has seemingly been saved by a specific object that has been prevalent throughout the whole drama. This would indicate that there may be a possibility of his return one day (as it usually does in Xianxia. And as it does in the novel. In the novel his soul is salvaged in a similar way and this is what allows him to be reincarnated and for them to be reunited after 1,000 years.)

However, it could also be interpreted in another way for those who prefer the full sad ending too.

No matter how you look at it, it will likely be emotional for you, as it was for all of us here.
I recommend giving the drama a go. It's worth it in my opinion. The acting, the chemistry and the story is too good to miss out on. So watch a few episodes and see if it grabs you.

Oh I know. But there is no possible way for it to air this year. It'll take months for post-production, and months for it to go through censorship. There's only 3 months left of the year.

So either someone made a mistake in adding it to 2023, or they purposely did it for the LOL's to troll people. 😅

I would love them to have a happy ending too. But Huntington's Disease is incurable and fatal, so I don't know if that's going to be possible. Not in a traditional "Happy ending" way anyway. 😭

They might end it in a bittersweet way, where they decide to continue living and fighting with the knowledge that she will succumb to it one day. But maybe they don't actually show it. But again...that's still quite sad because we know it will kill her eventually. I don't know...

Perhaps it's best to prepare yourself now. haha. I'm really looking forward to this one. I have a feeling it's going to be beautiful and LYX and Zhang Ruonan are going to do a great job.

The FL has Huntington's Disease. Unlikely that it's a happy ending. 😭 At most we're looking at bittersweet. I'm preparing now - going into it knowing it's probably going to be sad helps a little.

You're not alone! It really is so beautiful, but it makes me really emotional now too. It's my favourite of the OST's (though Black Moonlight and World that I Love are also at the top of the list)

I remember Bai Lu saying there was lots of discussion about a few different endings. They obviously moved away from the happy but abrupt reunion of the original script. I wonder at what point in the process that decision was actually made, and how much the OG scriptwriter had a say in it, if at all?

It depends on how you feel about open endings. This one has an open ending that is both sad and hopeful. I personally felt it was worth it. The drama and performances of the actors was too good.

It didn't bother me. It's not the first time I've seen uber pale makeup in a drama. In this particular drama, it actually made some sense to me as it very much fit with how Tantai Jin was described in the novel it's based on.

The makeup could be, admittedly, a little inconsistent at times, and there were a few instances where I definitely raised an eyebrow at the execution of it. But for the most part, I didn't mind. Luo Yunxi is ridiculously hot to me and pulls it off. I had more of a problem with some of the filters used.

The performances of the actors are amazing, the chemistry is out of this world, the story will stick with you. So I do recommend watching it, even if the makeup isn't for you,

Honestly, I found everyone exceedingly pretty in this, but LYX and Bai Lu especially are beyond stunning.

I mean, this was after they came out of Bo're Life with Mingye and Sang Jiu's memories. So he had vivid memories of having sex with her. So...*ahem* quite a few parts of her, I imagine. hehe

He knew her "taste" quite well at that point. 😜

I will never get over Youku's highly suggestive translation in that scene 😂

I suspect they likely knew some people weren't going to like it. I guess it's to be expected when it comes to any ending - but especially BE and maybe even more so for OE's.

I like the letters because they all really match up with what was going on in that particular arc - they do give insight to what their intentions for that arc might have been. Bai Lu's are especially good imo. LYX's are little more succinct, but I happily take them lol.

TTJ says something along the lines of :

What do you mean they don't speak when they are filming? As in they don't say the lines out loud? They absolutely do speak when they are filming - behind the scenes footage proves that.

Or are you asking why they dub in the first place? Mainly because there are so many different accents and dialects. And because the sound quality on set isn't always 100% perfect so they go in and dub afterwards.

As I said, in general, voice actors were the norm, but more and more actors are starting to do it themselves unless there is a specific reason they can't.

Yeah they did it for all of them, released after each arc. I love them so much.

I'm so annoyed with Youku. There were quite a lot of things that they never released on the international app, or subbed in English. *sigh*

I know very little Mandarin and usually get by with google translate for these kinds of things. It's not always accurate but it gives you a rough idea most of the time. I do have a friend who speaks it though, so in this case I'd have her transcribe it properly and then I'd add the subs myself.

There are also Tantai Jin and Ye Xiwu letters too. But for some reason Youku haven't translated these ones in English either. I plan on subbing them myself at some point. I think someone in the comments has also done a rough translation of Ye Xiwu's.

Let's just say, it's an open ending. So it's sad, but also hopeful at the same time. Though, as an open ending, interpretations of it will vary.

Not a problem! Even if I don't necessarily see it the same way as you do, it's still good to hear other's POV's.

I quite liked Arsenal Military Academy too. It had some great moments and characters in it. A good one for Lulu. And a good one for Xu Kai too.

I didn't have too much of an issue with it. I guess it might be hard to really depict what enlightenment actually entails.

She was in the array screaming in pain and then when she see's him setting the crossbow on people, she has flashbacks to when the Devil God destroyed the sects. She's distraught. and then she just stops, becomes very calm, and there is acceptance there and she says "we do need to finish this" Then she closes her eyes and seems to be in a meditative state. I guess I saw this as the moment she let go and found that balance.

I do think they could have taken a little more time with it though. I think many things were intentionally vague. (for better or worse)

Although, maybe there is another version out there that is a little bit longer? (Without cuts and all that. haha) 😅

There were definitely other sequences in that finale that I did have a problem with and felt it was definitely disjointed, because of obvious cuts. *sigh* What we all wouldn't give to see the unedited version. ahh well.
