I wouldn't say many people thought it was a "happy ending" but rather an open ending that was sad but hopeful.…
I think there are definitely some people who do find it happy or hopeful. Just not as a traditional happy ending. And those tend to be people who believe he will come back and they'll be reunited one day. I'm one of those people. He may have "died" , but he didn't die completely. My sadness mostly comes from the fact that we didn't get to see the full novel epilogue play out on screen and we had to settle for an ending that just implies it. But the seeds are all there and the final shot felt hopeful to me.
When it comes to Lost You Forever. I do recommend it. I think it's a very good drama with some great acting and some great production. It just didn't hit me on the same level as TTEOTM, personally. But it's still very good. I think my issue is that the plot itself didn't interest me as much as TTEOTM, the pacing was much slower. That being said, Lost you Forever is still unfinished. The last 21 episodes likely won't air until next year - so it's hard to say how I'll feel about it by the time it's complete. This is also just my personal feelings about it, not me saying one is better than the other. I just happened to enjoy one more than the other. Other people feel the complete opposite.
Can someone please explain me why do most people belive it was a happy ending?
I wouldn't say many people thought it was a "happy ending" but rather an open ending that was sad but hopeful. The final shot would imply that part of his soul was salvaged by the heart-guarding scale. in Xianxia this usually means that it is possible for him to return one day.
The novel it is based on has two endings - one that ends at the tomb scene, and the epilogue. The drama includes the first part of the epilogue but doesn't complete it. Tantai Jin saves the world, sacrificing himself believing that there is no way back. The three realms are now at peace and Li Susu gives birth to their daughter. In the novel, she never gives up hope that he will return one day and continues to search for him in the mortal realm. And in the drama we see that she is travelling the mortal realm with Tantai Zimi.
In the novel it is the tiger demon that salvages part of his soul, instead of the heart-guarding scale. It heals it for 1,000 years and eventually TTJ is reincarnated where he is reunited with Li Susu and their daughter. The drama ends with Li Susu and Tantai Zimi 500 years later, with part of TTJ's soul (assumedly) cultivating in the HGS. Many interpret this to mean that the HGS saved the purified part of his immortal essence while only the part of him that was The Devil God dissipated.
The OG script actually did have Susu and A'Mi meet a reborn TTJ at the banks of the Mohe River. But they decided to go for the more bittersweet open ending. They left it up to the audience to decide what happens next.
It's definitely not a traditional happy ending and it's still definitely sad and tragic imo.... but I see it as a win in some ways too because TTJ actually did defy his destiny. He never let the TDG take over completely. He managed to destroy him for good and save the world. & I choose to take the hopeful route with believing in a future HE one day. Susu might just have to wait a bit for it to happen.
I want to watch this, but I'm terrified of what I'm hearing about the ending. Someone enlighten me plz
Hopeful open ending. It has the first part of the novel epilogue (which is a happy ending) but doesnt complete it. So it's left up to the audience to decide. But the seeds are there.
It will still likely make you emotional. It's totally worth it in my opinion. It's got some amazing performances.
Dang! Do I spy some abs?! Daddy is HOT!! π€€π€€πππΆοΈπΆοΈ
You definitely did. lol He is very slender but he also has lot of core strength so it's not surprising he'd have some definition there. haha. I love when we get little peaks of him like that. So hot. π
okay, which one of y'all watched on viki and left confused comments π π tell me why they though dual-cultivation…
From what I understand, in Toaism, Dual Cultivation is where a man and woman cultivate together during sex. I'm guessing in terms of the drama you don't *have* to do it while having sex, but that's why Sang Jiu's brother and Ming Ye reacted the way they did when she brought it up. And Sang Jiu and Ming Ye's duel cultivation was certainly played as kind of sexy and intimate - sex without actual sex in their case. lol
In Yuan Shuai's defence, he has been bottling it up for so long and he just want to slowly let it out... and JJ…
I don't know how anyone can watch the extended bed kiss from Love is Sweet's BTS and not go crazy over it! They're just so good at it. It's still one of my favourite on screen kisses for C-Drama, even if we didn't actually get it in the drama itself haha. Proper open mouthed passionate kissing. it's so refreshing because we know that's not always a given in c-drama haha.
honestly Bai Lu and LYX and their willingness to go all out for their kissing scenes has really done something to my expectations. I'm always so disappointed when it's not like that in a drama now. *sigh*
This show has almost been more torture than it`s worth. So much endless draaaging melodrama!I am at 28 and thinking…
Whether it's satisfying or not will depend on how you feel about open endings. Some people were satisfied, some people weren't. I was satisfied with most of it, certain other things not. But the stuff I wasn't satisfied with definitely didn't outweigh everything I loved.
Personally I enjoyed the arc during the episodes you're watching at the moment. (episodes 18-29 ) I enjoyed the angst and I thought this period of the story had some of the most iconic moments and was some of my favourite episodes of the entire drama. But you don't seem to be enjoying it at all. So it's hard to say if you'll find the next arc any more enjoyable. haha. If you're at episode 28 and not particularly into it, I don't know if that will change.
There is some lighter moments again, briefly, some sweetness there. Some beautiful growth for certain characters.
Even taking out the entire background of enmity, the main couple's relationship is so dysfunctional. ...I was…
Can't take the enmity out of the relationship when that is the whole basis of the story. Personally I don't think it would hit me as hard as it did if that element wasn't there. Moving towards a place of love and understanding despite the (understandable) hostility and hate is what makes it fascinating to watch. (for me anyway. Obviously everyone is going to have different preferences for this,) No, it's not always healthy, but it doesn't need to be. The conflict is *chefs kiss*
I watched/listened to snippets of the epilogue that I found subbed in english but not the whole thing. It was…
aw, that's a shame. Hopefully someone ends up subbing it at some point in the future. Though it might take a bit to get used to new voices, I'm curious to have a version that's a little closer to the novel too. The parts I've heard from the epilogue were pretty good.
I would like to know if anyone here watched the radio format after the drama ended.
I watched/listened to snippets of the epilogue that I found subbed in english but not the whole thing. It was a bit weird hearing other voices as TTJ and Susu. Haha
If anyone has the link for the full radio drama with english subs let me know
It's so low. Absolutely ridiculous..... They deserved to be mocked thoroughly for it.There seems to be a lot of…
I'm honestly not sure. The people on twitter are not being entirely clear about it all. There is some fighting between ZLH fans and BL fans going on now especially as some ZLH fans are saying BL is profiting and leeching off ZLH and the rumours. (when we all know she really doesn't need or want those kinds of rumours to drum up interest for her dramas)
But yeah, the bracelet thing was immediately refuted the next day.

Yeah it's weird. I'm kind of confused and can't seem to get a straight answer from people on who was actually responsible. His team? Certain subsects of fans? His fans on behalf of his team? I don't know. Either way it was dodgy.
What a bunch of sore losers for mocking him over a 3 years old incident.I hope you all get psoriasis.

There seems to be a lot of weird HS going on at the moment actually. Apparently Zhang Linghe's people were caught buying HS in relation to the relationship rumours with Bai Lu. (capitalising on it, Something to do with matching bracelets or something along those lines) Then he clarified the next day that they definitely were not. But that also feels dodgy as hell.... All very weird and confusing lol.
In case anyone wonders (because I posted a comment about it yesterday), yes I ended up starting the drama and…
I'm glad you're enjoying it! Good Luck! It's okay if you can't binge it all in one go, it just means it'll last longer. I wish I could go back and watch it all again for the first time. π

There were a few videos that Youku released that would kind of validate this interpretation.

Very sweet.
I'm guessing this must have been when they were filming at the aquarium, before Yuan Shuai and Jiang Jun got together right?
