I can see where you are coming from though.I actually blame the execution of LSS's character majorly. However…
I like to think he knows and is aware of that love now. He never heard it in life, but I like to think the part of his spirit that resides in the heart-guarding scale has felt that love from Susu for 500 years. Felt it in the way she carries the scale with her, and in the stories she tells their daughter etc.
(and obviously, if we're looking at the hopeful end of things, would hear it in person upon reunion one day)

Exactly! I've seen so many people say 'Oh but he's not that man yet'. Yes, we can understand that logically, as an outsider but in reality, if was you in that position I doubt you'd be able to look past it. You just watched this man kill everyone and you know this is your one chance to save the world. Though you pity him deeply and form an attraction to him - any time you see him act in any way close to evil or morally questionable, it would serve as proof that you can't stop it from happening, that you can't save him. That's what happened with Susu. You can see it in her eyes any time she watches him hurt or kill anyone. (whether we think they deserved it or not) It triggers her.
I liked it - it's wonderfully angsty. To have a mission that you have to fulfil, to hate someone so deeply, and then to fall in love with this person at the same time. That's *chefs kiss*
It is an open ending . So it's sad and hopeful at the same time. Do you want more details? (Just trying to gauge…
Tantai Jin becomes the devil god, but is able to stop it from completely taking over. He understands that the only way to stop The Devil God for good and keep him from resurrecting again is to sacrifice himself. Which he does, believing there is no way back for him. He saves Li Susu, who plans to die with him, and the entire world - bringing peace to the three realms. 500 years pass, Li Susu has had their daughter and is travelling the mortal realm. We find out in the last shot that a part of his soul/essence was seemingly salvaged. As it is an open ending, what this means and what happens next is up for interpretation.
The novel's epilogue plays out in a similar way. He sacrifices himself, the three realms are at peace. Li Susu never gives up hope that he might return one day and continues to search the mortal realm for him. Part of his soul is salvaged (by different means than in the drama) allowing him to return one day. They are eventually reunited 1,000 years later when he is reincarnated. The original script ending also had them reunite too (Scene plays out exactly the same in the drama but for whatever reason, they chose the open ending instead) So while I do feel the implications are the same, we don't actually see it. There are a few videos that Youku released that would validate this interpretation.
But again, they left it up to the audience to decide.
FL is an absolute nightmare in this show. One sided actions, one sided decisions, no communication and idiotic…
I love Li Susu. She has the fate of three realms on her shoulders. She watched this man slaughter everyone she knew, watched him destroy the entire world. It is completely understandable that she has difficulty separating the man of the past with the version of him she encountered in the future. Psychologically speaking, it would be unrealistic to completely ignore this. Even though she feels pity for him in the beginning, even though she ends up falling in love with him (despite herself, because she was in denial for a long time) She still can't escape the fact that if she can't change his fate, or if she fails her mission, the entire world will be destroyed. She can't risk that just because she fell in love with him. That's such a heavy burden and it's heart-breaking. She's not perfect and I love that. She is flawed, just like TTJ is flawed.
I love both TTJ and Li Susu and I empathized with them both. They were both in a shit situation from the start and neither of them always handled things the way they should have. But that is where the humanity of the characters come in. I believed in their love story, even when it was obsessive and unhealthy.
Because writer gave all his pain and suffering to our xianglu and at the end she said he's my favourite character....…
It's not about how much he suffered or his ending. It's about his complexity and how much she enjoyed writing him along the way. Him being so selfless and tragic might actually be the reason he is her favourite. Especially if that was her plan from the beginning. Writers love a good complex and tragic character arc.
Don't get me wrong, Xiang Liu breaks my heart too - and I wish it was a different ending for him, but I kind of get it from a writers POV. I don't doubt that he is a favourite of hers. He stands out for a reason.
& I also tend to make my favourite characters suffer a lot in my writing. Don't know why...but it's a thing.
I heard, perhaps incorrectly, that they filmed a happy ending to drama but didn't air it. Has this happy ending…
In the novel's epilogue they are reunited 1,000 years years later when he is reincarnated in the mortal realm. The OG script for the drama was slightly different. It pretty much plays out the same as what we see in the drama, but there is an abrupt 5 second reunion where Li Susu and A'Mi are reunited with him at the banks of the river. However we do not know if they ever filmed this original ending. I'm going to assume not. Instead they opted for the open ending which only hints and implies it (or at least the possibility of it). As far as any of us know there is no secret HE that they filmed.
There are a few clips that Youku released that would validate the open ending and the idea that Susu hasn't given up and is searching for him. That she is waiting for his return as she did in the novel. As well as an audio snippet for their reunion. You may have already watched these or seen them about on other social media. But if you haven't here are the links to those:
wait why I can't see more ep upload on kisskh ? ain't we getting all ep today ? they haven't uploaded all yet…
Regular VIP's are only getting 2 episodes today. The rest of the episodes are only available to those who pay extra for the express package on WE.TV so whoever is doing the bootlegging on Kisskh probably doesn't have access to those episodes yet.
Yeah. The timing of that drop does seem very suspicious, with all the praise that's been coming out the last few days. And then to see this other drama just suddenly rise while this one drops. Especially when I've seen many comments on this particular page where they talk about how their rating is unfair and that it deserved to be rated higher than "some other dramas". I dunno.... I don't want to think people are petty, but we know they are sometimes. 😂
LOL interesting that just as the rating here drops down from 8.7 to 8.6 - a certain other drama goes up from 8.6 to 8.7. & just after TTEOTM was on the receiving end of a shit tonne of praise. Coincidence? I think not!
(for real though, it could just be a coincidence...)
I think those melons about an August drop date were BS. They don't even have their distribution licence yet apparently. September/October melons seem more likely.
is the other board you're talking about lost you forever? because i got absolutely abused by everyone when i commented…
Yes, that is definitely one of the ones I'm referring too. They really don't like to hear differences in opinion over there. Had someone send me an entire scathing essay about all the reasons I was wrong for thinking Xiang Liu was the most interesting out of the male leads. How I can be wrong about my own personal opinion, I don't really know lol. 🤣 I made sure to reiterate that it was just MY opinion and that I understand that other people didn't share it. But that wasn't enough for them. lol
Yeah and I am so thankful for this page. I've been watching one of the popular airing dramas and some people on…
Yes, I'm thinking of one in particular that's airing at the moment. it's just very.... agitated? I don't know. People can't express a difference of opinion without it getting very heated. 😂 lol
Sometimes I think I've spent so much time on this board that I've taken for granted how chill we all are here. Been on some other pages recently and it's just a nightmare. It's making me not want to engage at all.
It's made me love TTEOTM and this page even more. Thank you all for making this page actually fun and the fan experience enjoyable.
Devil god v4 with silver hair. Seriousyyyy, his damnnn voice I`m dead lol
Oh, I really liked the test look too! He looked great in that.
But I also appreciate the version we got in the drama, for different reasons I guess. It was a little different from what we usually see and I can tell they were trying to recreate his novel description. So I do like both haha. 😂 I do see where some people are coming from with it though, the application wasn't always great in some scenes.
But yeah, filters - I'd be here all day talking about that one. 😂
I think they must have forgot the scene where he kneels in front of Jiang Jun's mother asking for forgiveness…
😂 Yeah, and poor Tantai Jin only got the once with Susu. (that we know of haha. I sometimes like to ponder if something happened off screen while they were sharing that bed. 😂)
(and obviously, if we're looking at the hopeful end of things, would hear it in person upon reunion one day)

There is also some concept art in the official art book for TTEOTM that depicts the original script ending with them meeting him at the river too.
