Soo Ae and Tae Il getting married felt forced and unnecessary.. they were cute to watch together but they felt more like good friends or brother/sister relationship, and her mental state is still childlike so it just feels weird to me. The real wedding should've been Yeon Hwa & Kang Wook but I hated that he got killed off near the end of the drama, he did so much for her I was pretty sure he was going to end up with her.. Julia felt kinda useless, not as great as they hyped her up to be, especially when she started derailing into her own revenge plan and hating Kang Wook, he & Tae Il were more useful with helping Yeon Hwa's revenge than Julia. Kang Wook's death was the biggest revenge/karma for Jang Min Ja, but I hate it when the son has to die to make the drama more meaningful even though he's a good person like with another daily drama I watched, I wish the drama could've found another way to do that. He deserved a happy ending and Jang Min Ja didn't get any real punishment besides KW's death. Yoo Ra dug her own grave, it would've actually been less troublesome for In Suk to just give her a shorter sentence in the first place, now she's in an even worse state than her initial punishment that she was supposed to get instead of Yeon Hwa. Instrumental BGM was great, too bad they didn't release an OST for it. It's odd that they didn't, since the drama had high ratings in Korea and the music composer composed for many other kdramas before which got OSTs. The opening theme music played beautifully at the end of the episode. Overall it was an addicting daily drama that I got hooked to since the first few episodes.
That tutor women looks like a devil sent directly from hell!! she put me off.... still deciding whether I want…
she's the reason why I'm motivated to watch this lol I want to know what happens with her character xD back when SKY Castle came out I was motivated to watch it mostly for Kim Seo Hyun's character who was also a tutor..
Sky castle >>> penthouse for sure i hope People doesn’t fall in recommendations lol
SC is a more serious emotional drama while TP feels more like a soap opera with OTT acting/stereotypical characters. I still rated SC higher than TP even though I wasn't that hooked to the beginning eps.
I was excited about this since it's from the same writer of Woman of Dignity, which came out before SKY Castle, TWOTM, The Penthouse etc. I was addicted to these types of dramas so maybe I might like this one.. there was also Graceful Friends but I found that boring, My Dangerous Wife was decent. Anyways the first 2 eps were alright but I am not really seeing this as a makjang drama yet like the comments are saying here, I guess I'm just more used to those ones with more cliche plots/characters like with daily/family dramas. I just want to know what happens with the tutor and murder scene
it feels similar to a lot of 15-20 eps makjangs released in past 5 years :/
I like Makjang so maybe I'll enjoy this one.. haven't seen that many these past few years except for daily dramas, I want them to make more Makjang dramas again xD
Typical overated and hyped nonsens. In two words : BORING CIRCUS.
LOL you are here xD I agree even though I'm a fan of SJK but something feels off about this one, half the time I'm like meh.. then I feel more excited about the serious parts of the drama (especially near the end of the episode).. then it is boring again, repeat. I would've liked it a lot better if it focused mainly on the serious action/mafia plot without the filler scenes which made it a drag to watch.
absolutely. And I'm saying it even though I don't like Song Joong Ki
well I like SJK but this drama was just so-so, he was the main reason why I am motivated to finish it.. maybe you might become a fan of him here since most people liked this?
yeah that was the first lakorn I tried watching when it was airing and loved it - the hidden identity/revenge plot reminds me of makjang dramas which I get addicted to xD are there any newer lakorns nowadays that are as good as HJS? I've already tried Kleun Cheewit but I was more addicted to HJS plot/characters.
The ratings are RIDICULOUS. Are we just rating based on the pretty faces? Because this is tge only explanation…
I feel the same for some other popular highly rated dramas.. Vincenzo has some decent parts so I can see why people will like it, but it is funny seeing so many reviews of 9-10s (which I think is too high for this drama), some people acting like this is a masterpiece lmao I was honestly hyped about Vincenzo in the beginning scene of ep 1 but I felt bored half the time watching this until something exciting actually happens..
watched all except for Beyond Evil, the 1st ep bored me until the last 10 minutes when it goes back to the beginning scene with that creepy smile at the end, idk if I should try to watch it again.. I was also bored of Save Me 2 until the last few eps, it was quite slow paced and not as dark/engaging plot compared to the first Save Me. Makjang dramas are my type of shows, I was addicted to TWOTM and SKY Castle (except SC had a slower start but I got hooked to it by the end of ep 8) I only started liking The Penthouse when Gu Ho Dong/Logan Lee showed up but that S2 ending... -_-
was surprised to see that you wrote this article! Well done. I also miss the emotion of old dramas, this is why it feels harder for me to get into newer k-dramas nowadays..
the instrumental background music is the best thing about this drama tbh it made the drama more engaging/emotional at times, I'm not a fan of medical dramas but I felt more motivated to watch this one because of the music!
finally ep 17-18 brought back my initial excitement over this drama.. Sometimes I felt bored watching it until something exciting actually happens (especially near the end of the episode). This would've been better as a full blown action/serious drama from start to end without the forced comedy/tenants scenes.
Another good script that is suffering from the painful draggy screen durations of unnecessary clichés and useless…
yes I agree, the filler scenes are boring me and the exciting stuff always happens halfway or near the end of the episode.. when the drama does get serious it is actually a decent show.
I enjoyed watching her villain roles there
