Title Yellow Boots
Is this one worth watching?
I'm still at ep 80s but it's addicting/worth watching for anyone into makjang dramas. Each episode ends in a cliffhanger to keep you watching the drama. The first 2 eps caught my attention with the jailbreak scene which takes place again later at ep 27. The FL is naive/trusting in the beginning but becomes stronger later while slowly gaining allies to help with her revenge.

I watched ep 4 to 7. Disapointing. There is not so much kdrama parody now. I hardly smiled.Something wrong in…
it is lacking some of the charm/humor it had in the 1st season but it was funny seeing the parody posters of YWCFTS, MOTA and Doctor John in the background. That magical ball resembles the one from Abyss.
The weretiger/vampire plot is weird and I wanted to see more Joon Park/Claire romance. Ha Ji Won looks pretty here though.
For some reason I find Seth and the "Second Leads Anonymous" group funny.
I laughed at ep 4 scene with Seth throwing a tantrum in front of the ahjumma ladies: "I don't care about the rules!"
and in the latest ep when he holds a meeting with the SLA and they're like "Enough! Enough!"
That one guy following Seth around reminds me a bit of Jang Ki Yong xD
another scene in ep 4 that was amusing - when Joon Park was taking a shower and that fat man randomly appeared out of nowhere lmao

The first 10 eps were the worst, it started off with a campy vibe but got more tolerable after the FL became Hwang…
even though I didn't read the novel I doubt this is an actual adaption but for whatever reason they decided to name it "Montecristo" because they couldn't think of a more original name for this drama - which lacks originality in the first place, it feels like they just wanted to hastily write another copy & paste revenge drama in this time slot.
If someone wanted to make an actual adaption of the novel I'd imagine the producers of Money Flower or SKY Castle would make a more serious version of it with better BGM, casts and script not limited to stereotypical characters and more complex plot.
I am curious now and will have to check out the J-drama of Montecristo, I've heard of it before but didn't watch it yet.

I am at episode 3 and I am very disappointed. Too many fillers with dumb comedy where every grown ups are yelling…
The first 10 eps were the worst, it started off with a campy vibe but got more tolerable after the FL became Hwang Ga Heun. The side characters/filler scenes also annoyed me. I've only seen the anime version "Gankutsuou: the Count of Montecristo" a long time ago but it was great. I bet they only used the Montecristo name to attract viewers and not really as an adaption since the plot is nothing new, it's just a common plot used for daily makjang dramas where the main lead gets revenge with a hidden identity. I've seen a few others where the 2nd FL steals the FL's fiance (Don't Hesitate, Yellow Boots, The Promise) but I was most impressed by the FL's character development in YB after she comes out of jail from being framed by the 2nd FL and works hard to gain trust/allies to help her with revenge, I find it a much better drama overall than MM where this one just feels like a generic daily drama without anything outstanding about it. It feels pretty easy for the FL here to take down her enemies with her chaebol status, it's like she's taking her time to toy around with them than an actual battle of wits and the 2nd ML feels more like a comic relief character.

It doesn't make sense that in ep 80 he wants to marry MR, like wtf!?! She's a liar, manipulative, obsessive person…
Usually daily dramas (makjang ones) are supposed to be more exciting in the second half but this one was opposite.. it felt like the writer ran out of ideas halfway and SEJ was a copy of MR’s character who also placed a surveillance camera in the house around ep 20s.
Honestly Seo Ha Joon was the best thing about this drama lol
I’m still waiting to see if they’ll release the BGM ost for this drama but it’s still not out, I liked some of the music in this drama :/
Meanwhile I’m addicted to Yellow Boots, I find it a lot better than Miss Montecristo even though they have similar plots/characters but it doesn’t have those annoying side characters/filler scenes and the FL character development is better

I wanted to like this drama because the acting is so impressive, the direction of each episode is fantastic, the…
hmm I think I might get what you mean.. I wanted to like this too since I don't see much makjang/melodramas nowadays compared to back then but even though they tried to make the cinematography/lighting look good the writing felt surface level compared to some of Lee Yoo Ri's older makjang dramas that I've watched like Yellow Boots, The Promise, Come! Jang Bo Ri even though they had basic cinematography/sets but they were addicting with good cliffhangers at the end of every episode and their acting/characters felt more genuine/memorable than here. I felt more emotional in YB when she also had a baby in jail there and had to send him away.
The villain's backstory/motives also felt weak and we never really get to see her becoming the stepmother which would've been the most interesting part of the drama.

my favourite dramas of her are Gu Family Book, Where Stars Land & King of Baking Kim Tak Goo.
I'm not really a fan of medical or slice of life dramas but I'll try watching Dr. Romantic & What Happens to My Family?

@sunset I hope all is well! This drama really turned into a hot mess but I stayed to see the ending. Do you think…
lol he does look more like a comic relief character than a 2nd leading man.. if she ends up with her first love again she would be a better mom for his son than Ha Ra anyways.
yes Seo Ha Joon was eye candy (tbh I only started noticing his hotness when he was Jung Min, his hairstyle and wardrobe made him look younger after the timeskip), am glad to have discovered him through this drama. I'd imagine him being a more popular actor if he wasn't limited to these obscure daily dramas.
Lee Jae Woo isn't too bad looking either, but his initial hairstyle made him look older than in the later episodes.
Same, I noticed Park Hyung Sik is casted in 2 new dramas, one of them is historical which I don't watch often but I'll give it a try for him, and the other one which is a "apocalyptic thriller" sounds interesting. I started watching his older drama What Happens to my Family since I liked a few of the screenwriter's previous works and I like the main ahjussi actor there from East of Eden.
Happy weekend ^^

A Good Supper looked like a slice of life daily which I don't usually watch other than Ugly Alert (which I didn't really get the hype about)
I prefer makjang/melodrama dailies 'cause they have those addicting cliffhangers to keep me watching such long dramas xD
I think MDL users and me have opposite tastes, I still enjoyed A Man in a Veil and Phoenix 2020 (at least the romance was decent) even though others were hate watching it and I also find some hyped dramas meh.
I notice in daily dramas with similar plots to Montecristo (like the 3 I mentioned) the FL always ends up with the 2nd guy who supports her than her first love so I'm pretty sure she will end up with him instead.
Vincenzo had a great opening scene I couldn't believe the setting was made with CGI, the filler/comedy scenes kinda bore me but I like the serious parts of the show more. I'm also excited for the last season of The Penthouse, I heard there's only 1 ep per week??
Thanks, hope you're doing well too!

I thought it was on Viki but it disappeared.. actually I'm noticing recently that some other older k-dramas aren't…
that sucks, they should put specific dates for how long the drama is available on their site, especially for longer dramas people need time to watch them.
Ublockorigin works well on KA for me, it can get past the message where it makes you turn off your adblocker.

Did Jung Yong Hwa do something to his face? He's looking a tiny bit different from the last time i saw him.
I thought both leads looked kinda skinnier (their face)? I thought Jang Na Ra had puffier cheeks when I saw her last in TLE...

Maybe that could be the reason why it didn't happen, or it was just an introduction scene but even before the ML disappeared I thought the writer was favoring JM more than SH..
I'm not watching A Good Supper but Miss Montecristo feels like a generic daily drama so far compared to a few others with similar plots/characters (Don't Hesitate, Yellow Boots, The Promise) which had a more original vibe about them (the BGM and actors were more memorable in those ones)
Montecristo started off campy but it got kinda better after the FL became Hwang Ga Heun and she seems to be overpowering her opponents which should be a good thing but at the same time it feels lame/too easy for her.. I guess it'd be an OK watch for those new to daily dramas which I noticed in their comment section some people came to MM as their first daily but the script/acting and music seems pretty basic imo.

wanted to create a topic here but it's not showing up in the front page/ Recent Discussions, I guess it's a bug with dramas that are remade into different versions but the topic showed up at the original Phoenix page instead.
My long rant/thoughts about ep 1 opening beach scene (feel free to join the discussion): https://kisskh.at/discussions/phoenix/61253-ep-1-beach-scene
I watched this at the same time with A Man in a Veil but I feel empty now that both of them are done airing/off my CW list (except AMIAV was more makjang/addicting and they also had good BGMs but I wasn't convinced by the main leads romance there) I was always looking forward to the next episodes daily even though most people were complaining about these 2 shows and I cared more about these ML characters/love triangle than some other popular mainstream dramas that aired at the same time like Start Up & True Beauty xD
am still listening to "Call Your Name" my favourite OST song since the beginning of the drama (love the rap part), the instrumental track of it sounds great on its own too.
it feels sad I keep commenting on low rated dramas that no one cares about...

All I'm waiting for is the BGMs to come out. That's all I liked from this drama.
Same, except I also liked JE/JM romance here more than the original, imo they were a more convincing love story than JE/SH's rushed love story in both versions where they fell in love at first sight and they barely knew each other that long enough to go through all that hardship just to be together, plus she had more screentime to develop chemistry with JM.
Anyways some of the BGMs were pretty nice to listen to. The whistling/humming ones gave the drama a more light/peaceful feeling than the original which felt more dark/gloomy, and that jazz-like music with the female voice adds a sexier mood to the romance. That one at ep 1 beach scene with the female voice is stuck in my mind, I keep going back to certain parts of the drama just to listen to it but I think it disappeared along with SH after ep 70, I don't remember hearing it anymore in the second half of the drama. The one at the very beginning of ep 10 sounds nice/cheerful. I'm gonna be upset again if they don't release the bgms like with Devilish Joy which also had some nice similar music with male/female vocals. I noticed they released one last OST song recently (part 17) on Apr 11 so I'm still eagerly hoping for the BGM OST. There'd be a higher chance of regular dramas releasing BGM OSTs but I worry about this one since it's an unpopular daily drama...
