What are the other adaptions of Monte Cristo? I would like to watch them. I have already seen the Japanese one.
there is another k-drama "Goodbye Mr. Black" based off of Montecristo, although I haven't watched it yet.

There was an even worse ratio effect in Graceful Friends where the screen was squished together and everyone looked…
I tried 8 eps because that was supposed to be the turning point where I also liked SKY Castle and Healer at that magic number 8 xD
well even if some comments get annoying people don't have to read them. I see it is the SOL which bores me because with other medical dramas with supernatural vibes made the operation scenes more intense (Priest or Blood) even Doctor John was more interesting for me since the music also helped (I liked that song Pain or Death - Samuel Seo)

so far it is just a generic daily drama which feels hastily written with shallow plot/characters to fill up this timeslot (I've seen 3 others where the 2nd FL steals the FL's fiance but I still liked those dramas more than this one), the title of "Montecristo" is misleading and was just used to attract viewers even though I didn't read the novel but the original premise where I watched in an anime version is that the main character is supposed to be wrongfully imprisoned but they didn't even do that part here, she was more like a victim who got her life stolen by falling off a bridge because of 2 supposedly "best friends"
Another thing is that you can't be really comparing this with other dramas of completely different genres or mainstream ones, of course the "regular" airing k-dramas will have better production and more variety of plots/characters meanwhile the ones in this time slot is made specifically for "revenge" plots so it is meant to be dramatic with the same cliche plots/characters and basic cinematography/sets. It's not surprising if daily dramas gets draggy at some point because of the episode length yet the cliffhangers at the end of every episode will still keep you hooked to watching more of it.
Oddly I find myself liking some stuff the more people complain about it and vice versa..
usually in makjang dailies I find the 2nd half more exciting than the first.

Title Hospital Playlist Spoiler
I can't believe it : they use the same technique than Signal for scenes of the past.Compressing the picture, so…
There was an even worse ratio effect in Graceful Friends where the screen was squished together and everyone looked like stick thin! (see near the end of ep 1 1:06:25)
I found one of the scenes cringy around 46 mins in 1st ep, the woman says she's the luckiest woman ever, no other woman is as lucky as her (lol wtf?) but she is not the only one in the world who is suffering and it is a doctor's job to save lives anyway...
I dropped this at 8 eps last year while FFing through it, I guess we are in the minority 'cause I didn't see anything special about this drama.. every ep felt repetitive with the same band playing at the end of every episode so I didn't feel like missing out on much if I skipped one.
Too bad, I would've liked to see more of your analysis then maybe the drama would be more fun to watch xD

I read all your comments lmao I agree the 1st episode was the most boring one, it felt like a slow paced slice…
agreed, I probably have liked some SOL dramas without knowing it, I enjoyed Where Stars Land even though it had a fantasy element (bionic arm) but the daily cases/situations at the airport were interesting in every episode. However true SOL dramas like Hospital Playlist puts me to sleep, which is unpopular opinion coming from a female viewer when most females usually like these types of dramas.. I see some people saying SOL anime is boring but I don't really see anyone saying this for dramas.
I liked some slapstick humor (Eulachacha Waikiki) but I don't like the script in Vincenzo, the serious parts of the drama is decent but the comedy/fillers is meh. It all depends on the screenwriter/script for me.
will see you again in The Penthouse season 3 comment section :D

Could someone explain the appeal of this show to me? I think I've watched the first 3 episodes of season one and…
the writer also wrote other makjang dramas like Temptation of Wife, Come! Jang Bo Ri, The Last Empress which also had high ratings in Korea, I was a big fan of the latter 2 so I was looking forward to this one. Although I didn't really start liking it until around ep 9 when Gu Ho Dong/Logan Lee showed up and most of the characters are unlikeable but somehow it is entertaining to hate on the villains. At first some people compared this to SKY Castle (similar themes) but this is more makjang/over the top.

Title Dramaworld Season 2 Spoiler
U guys think Claire and Joon have any hope from now on? I'm afraid they won't end up together again...
maybe they might end up together again in the last episode after they beat Seth and Evan sees she's still in love with Joon he lets her go..
Honestly I'd be upset if they don't end up together, 'cause it makes me wonder why did they bother making this and I'd regret watching the 2nd one (like with another k-drama that also broke my fave pairing in S2 and that season itself wasn't even good anyways) that "true love's kiss" was my favourite scene in the 1st season so maybe they'll reenact this scene again ;)

Gosh, this first episode was soooooo long and boring.I think we got not only the idea but also the feeling quite…
I read all your comments lmao I agree the 1st episode was the most boring one, it felt like a slow paced slice of life which usually bores me but Longing Heart was also a time travel/school romance drama but I don't remember being bored of that one.
I put this on hold months ago but am trying to watch it again since I heard there's going to be a k-drama version of this and I'm still curious about the hype. But then again there are so many times where I couldn't get into popular highly rated dramas nowadays (off topic - glad to see you also disliked Vincenzo on your dropped list even though I wanted to like it because of SJK)
the FL here reminds me of Kim Ji Won (similar facial features) it'd be funny if they cast her in the Korean version.

it was meh.. the trailer made the movie look more exciting than it actually was. I thought it would've been better than Gonjiam even though the first part of Gonjiam was boring but that one still felt creepier than this.. 0.0MHz just felt like one of those cheap indie movies, the last 20 mins was the most interesting part I guess.

Title Phoenix 2020
@sunset I hope all is well! This drama really turned into a hot mess but I stayed to see the ending. Do you think…
I am Asian too, but have single eye lids. One of my sisters has bigger eyes since she looks more like my dad's side of the family with tan skin/not so typical Chinese features so they sometimes get mistaken for being Filipino lol. The FL from Yellow Boots was also evil and even took away the FL's son/sent him away later.
I've heard of the J-drama before but haven't watched it yet, I will have to check it out - and also since I enjoyed the anime version (Gankutsuou) a long time ago too. Even though they named the drama "Miss Montecristo" but it still feels more like a generic daily drama than an actual adaption. There is another "Montecristo" k-drama which is called Goodbye Mr. Black but I haven't seen it yet.

I also saw the comments section there about others not liking MM's recent eps. But then I see 2 people comparing it to other dramas of different genres or mainstream ones which doesn't seem fair since makjang dramas are supposed to be unrealistic/dramatic and "regular" dramas will obviously have better production/more variety of plots than dailies.
I'm at ep 80s of Yellow Boots (similar plot to MM with the evil 2nd FL stealing FL fiance and copying her ideas) I find it a way better daily drama than MM, with more solid acting/engaging plot and original background music (which other people might not pay attention to but I like it when there is good BGM in a drama, it makes it more memorable for me). I've been waiting for Phoenix 2020 BGMs to come out but they didn't release them :(
I'm also eager to know what happened to Logan after S2's ending!
almost done with Let's Fight Ghost (Thai version of k-drama Bring it On Ghost) main leads romance is cuter but the supporting cast is still better in the original, loved Kang Ki Young & Lee David's bromance there.
I haven't watched Vincenzo this week yet, but the final episodes do look more exciting now.
Hope you're doing well!

I just stumbled on this article now. The FL also reminds me of Kim Ji Won! Oddly I actually thought of Wi Ha Joon for the ML (Greg Hsu's character) although he might look a bit old for a high school character.. Jung Hae In would be a good cast for Mo Jun Jie, he still looks baby faced.

Does the story start to pick up after the first few eps? I’m on ep 2 and honestly find it incredibly boring.…
I felt the same... I put it on hold months ago because the 1st ep was boring, but at ep 2-3 I was more interested in watching the high school characters instead of the present timeline. I guess I'll keep watching it too then

funny thing is I actually enjoyed 3 of those dramas in the Recommendations page more than this one... imo this isn't as exciting/addicting compared to Hua Jai Sila

I already watched Korean version recently .. is if same as orginal or something different in Thai?
some of the ghost stories are different and the romance looks more obvious than the original. The female student actually slept with Dr. Jade which I don't remember seeing that in the k-drama. The supporting characters bromance is still better in the k-drama.

some of the ghost stories are different and the romance looks more obvious than the original. The female student actually slept with Dr. Jade which I don't remember seeing that in the k-drama. IIRC ep 3 and 7 were more emotional here.
It's a decent watch but the supporting cast wasn't as good as Kang Ki Young and Lee David's bromance since that was my favourite part of the drama.
