Yique Yin Yang is not Tang Lici, they are different. You can think of them as Ancient Devil God and Tantai Jin in TTEOTM.

I would anyday prefer Gui Mudan over him.

His hair colour transformation is telling his journey. The closer he gets to the end of his journey, the whiter his hair gets, means the purer state of mind he will have.

In Ep8, we see a cosplay of this battle, Liu Yan is cosplaying Fang Zhou and the man in black roles with a mask is Gui Mudan cosplaying the Yique Yin Yang.
