Title Empresses in the Palace Spoiler
A total bad end. But the the main character wins so a good end in that sense.
technically the romance was necessary because had it not happened Zhen Huan wouldn't have had motivation to return to the forbidden city or turn basically evil towards the end. Also I think acting ability is far more important than looks for this type of drama.

why is this rating higher than the first few seasons lmao
its better than keep running seasons 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, but not as good as seasons 1 and 2.

Honestly, aside from NiNi in Rise of Phoenixes, which chinese historical actually tries to choose a FL that can…
Chen Yuqi can most definitely do it too

When an absurd and ridiculous drama like Romance of Tiger and Rose gets an 8.7 and this gets 8.0 you know something…
I love this drama too, but the thing is people will hold this drama and ROTAR on different levels. No one expects the latter to be thoughtful because it's a cute love story. And yet it managed to include some very interesting social commentary on equality. Bloody Romance on the other hand is a much deeper show. It succeeds in showing the darker side of humanity and how bleak life can be, however, its pacing is a problem (sometimes arcs are either way too long or way too short) and the whole concept of an assassin city wasn't explained nearly as well as they should've. When compared to dramas like Rise of the Phoenixes or Joy of Life, it lacks the maturity in production and packaging and so it is less well received because viewers have higher standards. ROTAR managed to break the standard for a cute time-travel love story and while Bloody Romance may be higher in quality, it was not nearly as successful in showing audiences something new. (Also MDL ratings are usually inaccurate. Some not so great shows have really high ratings while a lot of hidden gems have 8s or lower.)

Modernized versions of Chang An and Gong Zi. Which one of the following two you would fall in love with in real…
except Gong Zi treats everyone like a pawn, including Wan Mei (or you in this situation?). You don't know if he's being genuine or just faking some kindness so he can use you for his own good in the future. He wants to keep Wan Mei at his side, not letting her achieve her own dreams. Gong Zi just wants Wan Mei to love him, he doesn't necessarily want her to be happy. Chang An, on the other hand, will do whatever it takes for Wan Mei to be happy. Maybe some people like the latter option, that's not for me to judge. But as Wan Mei is a moral character who wants life to be better for everyone in the city, she would never fall in love with someone who sees human lives as chess pieces that can be discarded once they've served their use. Chang An is the one person who treated her genuinely, who gave her kindness when all she had received previously was mistreatment.

Qu Chuxiao is 25, So not the same age for that matter but Ya, I too feel he would have suited the role more, But,…
I think the comment above wasn't necessarily trying to judge acting abilities based off of visuals, but I do think it is annoying that people prefer cute/handsome over actual acting. BUT, as this drama is based off of a manhua, and readers of that manhua have clear and concise images of what they think the leads should look like, it does make sense that people write off actors because they simply do not match in the visual department. For example, I recognize that Liu Haoran is one of the best actors of his generation, but I would be a little confused if he was cast as the ML in this drama because it was just feel odd to see him play a cruel person.

Person Chen Yu Qi
What kind of potion did Yukee Chen use she got to star opposite Li Yifeng, Qu Xiao, Luo Yunxi and Wang Yibo on…
I mean she filmed the drama with Wang Yibo before he got famous, and Li Yifeng isn't nearly as popular as he was two years ago. Qu Chuxiao and Luo Yunxi are still relatively smaller actors. Not that weird.

I feel that her acting is actually.....the best....for the people her age. She is among the best. Whoever did…
I know right!! Give my girl Yukee some good scripts! The only semi-non annoying storyline she's gotten is Zhao Min in HSDS. I hope Twin Mirror Cities can offer a good script because the books have really high ratings.

Title Best of Us
Another 最好的我们? There was literally a movie released just last year. Also, Arthur Chen already played Yu Huai in that one too so? Why?

Okay I'd totally watch this, but do we really need another HSDS adaptation right now? Also I like Song Yiren, but I can't imagine her as Zhao Min. But, I can totally see Wu Lei as Zhang Wuji.

I know the whole girls dressed as guys thing never looks good in Chinese dramas, but Ju Jingyi is so pretty that I don't think I can even imagine that anyone would think she's a guy.

Well... now it is Wu Jin Yan as co-lead and Xu Kai and her both starred in Yanxi Palace, and have the same following…
Oh, so Yu Zheng had said they were supposed to star together. I understand why fans are sad now. I was mostly upset because on the Court Lady douban page, there were comments that were like "I don't like Li Yitong, it should be Bai Lu", which were upsetting.

Why do they have to do a remake so quickly? Please think of more original stories...
Also, the previous one wasn't received all that well and given the other two shows in this trilogy had sky high ratings people want a better ending to the trilogy.

How much screentime does Oliver have in this show? (Just came here after watching him from Goodbye My Princess!)
he's the second male lead so not nearly as much as he had in GMP, but still a pretty good amount.

I like Xu Kai and Bai Lu too but can they at least have a few dramas with different actors? In the short term, giving them more dramas together might feel like a massive win, as fans of both actors and fans of their previous works will all watch it. However, in the long term, it's not necessarily a good thing for actors to continue working with the same leads all the time because then fans will be unable to see them with other actors. (Just like what's happening here).
