Nan Chu's boss is oftenly on the phone with a Mrs Nan, or Mr Nan, I don't know. But I would bet that it's Nan Chu's mother. Meaning she is going to appear at some point in the drama.
Sigh, well, it's to be expected, right? I mean, there are 40 episodes and the main couple got together rather quickly so angst is bound to happen at some point, meaning a break up.
Which is so funny she keeps talking about killing her and I’m like bitch I’m like don’t you know she’s…
From what I watched, it's her attempt, two years ago, to open the pass that triggered the sandstorm. After that, there was the plan from the elites to get rid of her.
That's what I got from the last episode. But it's a bit confusing. After that sandstorm, the Long girl was put in place as a spy, using that magic to switch her face with the FL's face. Then the FL was accused of betraying the Scorpion Eye and ended up hang but she can't die inside this dimension so they took her outside the pass. Maybe they hoped that she would never come back and would end up dying at some point in the normal world? That was plan A.
Plan B was put into action, though. If she came back, to use the ML who had been saved by the Long girl, to kill the FL. That's one chess game, here.
I hope we'll see her perspective when she regains her memories and to see that she wasn't the one to open the pass, 2 years ago. Because if she was, then she is still responsible for the sandstorm which followed.
I wonder why she can die in the normal world and not inside the other dimension. Immortality is not fun when everybody else dies, especially the ones you love.
Which is so funny she keeps talking about killing her and I’m like bitch I’m like don’t you know she’s…
Yeah, and that's the thing. We are watching... nice FL. The one who has amnesia. Maybe pre-amnesia, she wasn't that nice. Maybe she had good intentions but didn't care who would pay the price.
And what if she remembers and reverts back to the not so nice FL pre-amnesia?
So many ifs. I haven't read the book and I suspect that since it's also a romantic drama, it will end well and the FL won't turn into a villain.
Which is so funny she keeps talking about killing her and I’m like bitch I’m like don’t you know she’s…
She wants to do what the other guy 1000 years ago tried to do. But... but isn't the remedy worse than the disease?
She wants to free the demons to attack the city and the power hungry. But will it make things better or worse? How can she know that she would control the demons once they are free? If she can't, the city will be destroyed and there won't be any place left for humans to escape the demons.
It's a big risk. The plan to get rid of her was to prevent her from freeing the demons.
The black city's elite is the plague, the FL's plan (and the scorpion eye cult) to free the demons is the cholera.
Is there a peaceful solution to make things right? I don't know. Sometimes, just cutting the head could be enough. The Longs seem to be the worse in the City, why not getting rid of them and start negociations with the rest, like the Li (the old sorcerer who has been helping them since the beginning?)
I still feel that the FL's plan to free the demons, is an abomination.
Which is so funny she keeps talking about killing her and I’m like bitch I’m like don’t you know she’s…
CD is a better person than I am, that's for sure. Because if the FL is the one responsible for the sandstorm which killed everybody from Cammelia, I wouldn't stay with that person, I would prefer to let my feelings die by going away and let them fade away with time.
A much worse person would probably kill the FL for killing his fiancee and 14 and his friends.
I know this is a drama so happy ending probably coming and the fact that there are at least 100 people in agony over what happened to their beloved ones 2 years ago will be swept under the rug to please the shippers but damn, I hate that the FL was the one causing this misery to so many innocent people outside the pass.
I don't understand the hype!!...Chemistry was good but the rest I don't get.Uncle's revenge, FL trying to seduce…
I think it's because it's not an ordinary rom-com, compared to others which are either work related rom-coms, or youth rom-coms, or paranormal rom-com/love stories, or slice of life dramas or classical rom-coms.
Here, the ML isn't a monk, he just has a huge personal loss and decides to honor his mother's last wish. He also wants to reflect on himself, therefore living a monk like life but he is not a monk. The guy was a CEO who used to be a play-boy and who had spent years studying abroad.
That's why he falls for the FL. She is like fresh air in an arid life. And sad life, too.
There's also the village people, who are a huge part of the drama and who gave it a more authentic vibe.
Add to that the beautiful scenery, luxuriant landscape, main characters who talk about their problems and many people fell for that.
Episode 15: Is Nan Chu's mother or father behind her getting that contract? After the crazy actor announced taking a break from showbusiness, the boss of the company she signed that contract with (I forgot his name) called someone whose last name was "Nan", and said that Nan Chu would get another contract or another job.
Her father wasn't mentioned in the show, yet, right? But her mother was. She didn't want her daughter to become a dancer.
I think its not doing that well even in China mainly bc of the airing schedule. There is a fair amount of world…
True but I find it easy to get back into it. Last week, I didn't have the time to watch the 6 episodes so I saved them for sunday aka 8 days after I watched the last episode.
I know, right? There's been three dramas these past months that I watched (one casually, one I loved and this…
Thank you. Ouch the preview for episode 29. I kind of suspected it, though. I'm starting to wonder if there will be a happy ending or a bittersweet one.
8.1? seriously?? I normally don't care about the rating but this deserve so much more. Great acting, story and…
I know, right? There's been three dramas these past months that I watched (one casually, one I loved and this one, which I like very much) and the ratings those dramas got baffled me.
Like... why??? How??? Two of them had mature leads (Parallel World and The legend of Zhuohua), another was a rom-com with more, let's say normal main leads characters, shot in a beautiful place, quite a lovely and warm drama and this one got a 7.6. "The legend of Zhuohua" got a 8.3 and "Parallel world" a 8.1.
I'm no longer trusting the ratings on MDL. I prefer to read reviews. It's like dramas with famous idols will get good ratings no matter what and others are just trashed for no good reason.
Question: does anybody know where I can watch previews for "Parallel worlds"? The last episod ended up on a cliffhanger and I would love to be spoiled about the next episodes.
Okay, I'm late but since I love being spoiled, here’s how I see things:
- the sandstorm which killed the ML's friends and fiancee took place two years ago and was caused by the scorpion cult attacking the museum to free the demons, which triggered this huge sandstorm inside and outside the pass and shifting the city’s spirit (whatever that means, maybe it means shifting the entry of the pass, therefore the scorpion members cult were able to get the bodies of the ML’s friends to feed them to the golden ants and steal their cars ?)
- the FL is in fact the leader, with Jiang Zhan (or at least she was working with him or was involved romantically with him) of the scorpion cult. In one of the flashback, the FL remembers the attack which killed her parents and she had a scorpion on her shoulder, saving her life. On top of that, she is probably the reincarnation of the character who, 1000 years ago, had also tried to free the demons from the pass so she did the same again in this time period,
- After the attack, Zao Guan Shu, leader of the black city, created this plan to get rid of the scorpion cult and the FL, by sending a spy, Long Zhi, who brainwashed Jiang Zhan into thinking that she was Ye Liu Xi and our FL was the spy. She was (I believe) brainwashed into forgetting her indentity and then « killed » but since she is the chosen one, she can’t die so she was sent outside the pass to be rid of her,
- If what I wrote above is right, does that mean that YLX is the one responsible for the deaths of all of the ML’s friends and of his fiancee ? Damn, talk about some roadblock on their happiness. No wonder they got together in the middle of the drama since there’s going to be violence and angst later on.
- Is it based on a novel ? If so, how does it end ?
- Aaaaannnn the old man is back, the one telling the story. Funny how he is always back in an episode where old sorcerer Long is in, even for a short time. I wonder why.
I really enjoyed the gentle quietness of this drama and think it deserves a much higher score, but I genuinely…
Parallel world is great! A bit confusing but in a good way. World building is fantastic, the characters are unique, it's definitely a drama to watch, IMO, especially if you love paranormal, fantaisy, mixed with a more normal world and mystery, too. Plus romance. Plus adventures.
So far for me, PW is a 9. But it's only 8.3 right now. Very weird.
Thanks for the tip, I edited my review to correct my mistakes.
I really enjoyed the gentle quietness of this drama and think it deserves a much higher score, but I genuinely…
At least, with this drama, plus two other ones I'm watching which got ratings they didn't deserve, IMO, I'm going to start reading the critics instead of just seeing on a drama page: "Oh, 7.5? 7.6? 7.7? not worth wasting my time".
I think I must have missed great dramas because of those ratings which are the first thing we see when we land on a drama page.
"Parallel world" got a 8.3 rating so far. It's mind boggling. I just don't get it. I know the actors are more on the mature side with a complicated plot but damn, it deserves much higher ratings, too!
And if I have to watch a 20 something FL with a job with a childish voice, childish clothes, and childish behavior, I'll break something! That's why "Dear Mr Hermitage" was such a welcoming change, for me.
PS: do you know how to edit a critic posted? I noticed that I made two mistakes that I would like to correct but I don't know how.
still can't get over how funny this was 🤣🤣🤣 actors are so professional if it was me i would never be…
I think it works because the actors, as you said, are professional and knew that they weren't shooting a serious time travel drama but a comedy with romance and fantasy elements. But a comedy first, IMO.
On top of that, it looks like they had fun shooting the drama.
how's the romance?the reviews are purely nonsense. Seems like robots are attacking this drama
I loved the romance but I'm aware that it's subjective. What I like, someone else can dislike.
I think the romance is more on the normal/sometimes romantic/sometimes a bit down to earth side.
ML and FL make love before the end of the drama and live together for 3 years before getting married.
On top of that, beautiful scenery. Someone in this thread told me that the drama was shot in a chinese province close to the Laos and Thailand border, and the people living there are from the Dai ethnic group. So the landscape, houses and the village are beautiful and not what I associate with China but more with Thailand.

Not what she wanted (at least I hope, but as I said, we don't know what kind of person she was pre-amnesia) but nonetheless what ended up happening.

Yeah, I think I have finally opened my eyes to the ratings on this site and I should trust my instinct more and the critics, which are more valuable, IMO, than the ratings. Because when I see a drama like : "You from the future" getting a higher rating than "Dear Mr Hermitage", I feel like I'm an alien on MDL. I loved the first drama with the actors from "You from the future" (I think this drama is the 3rd collaboaration with the actors) but damn, was this drama a chore to finish, cliché from beginning to end with mediocre acting and predictible plot.
And if I have to watch a 20 something FL with a job with a childish voice, childish clothes, and childish behavior, I'll break something! That's why "Dear Mr Hermitage" was such a welcoming change, for me.
