I've seen more plastic faces in Korean dramas than I've ever seen on British TV (excepting TOWIE etc.). And I've…
Same.....there's less diversity in looks too (hair, skin tone, facial features) especially in Korea where there's just one "right" way to look and anything else is considered as flawed. The over the top and gratuitous wealth-porn has also become really popular since the Boys Over Flowers era, since then Kdramas have definitely become more plastic than ever.

K-dramas have their own formulas and clichés that you'll see as you watch more of them...so while it's definitely different than Western tv, it's not necessarily better or worse. Sometimes the amount of censorship and conservative values in the stories are also problematic in their own way....

I just finished a drama with a crappy ending, I don't want 2 consecutive ones, if this drama have a satisfied…
It's only one episode per week, and it'll probably have more than 21 episodes (possibly up to 33). There's also a movie version in the works. So if you want an *ending* and don't care for the journey then I suggest you opt for another drama for now.....

The problem here is that lots of people who don't typically watch Jdramas voted on the poll :/ It's really sad to see some of those amazing dramas getting robbed just because most people who voted haven't watched them...

lol the MDL community's too kdrama biased, clearly
Because most kdramas are essentially cloyingly romantic soap operas, so Jdramas like Itazura and Last Cinderella are the most likely to appeal to an audience who likes that sort of entertainment.

I didn't think that Last cinderella, itazura na kiss and Yamada-kun to Nana-nin to Majo were that good.. They…
Most people in the MDL community are into the light rom-com genre, and those were pretty much the only popular rom-com Jdramas in 2013. That's what most people on here watched, so naturally that's what they would want to vote for.

I liked your review of Pasta, I also couldn't stand the amount of misogyny in that drama :/ What did you think of Secret (the Kdrama)?

I just went through some comments and I am SO GLAD to see that I am not the only one who thinks that this drama…
Ultimately, people are rating dramas based on the entertainment value and popularity. It's not a coincidence that most of the rec'd and highest rated dramas are usually the newly hyped ones. Also, there's a romcom/romance bias in the Kdrama community, so those dramas will always be the most watched, raved about, etc. Any site with user ratings is going to have people giving ratings that are personal and not necessarily a reflection of the drama's quality (whether it's a 1 or a 10)...at least it's a good indicator of how watchable the drama is for most people, right? Just take it with a grain of salt~ ^^

Is there romance in this?
I wouldn't recommend it to someone who wants to watch it primarily for the romance (but yes, there's hints of it). Just don't expect any emotional payoffs because it's only used as a very minor subplot. It follows the typical Jdrama formula of being repetitive and thematic, so there isn't a whole lot of plot/character development in that respect.

This drama may have some cliche scenes but I couldn't stop watching it! It was so good because you can see how…
ikr? They don't blatantly tell you how the character feels/why they do or say specific things in a spoon-fed way like most dramas do, it's nice
