I love Wang An Yu and I want to watch this but I have some concerns. Not an avid watcher of noona romances but I see no problem with the casting and by the comments they work great together.
But like, she's gonna be his coach??? He's likeβ¦. fresh outta high school?? I just started episode 1 and the track scene of her watching him is giving me the icks knowing that they will be a couple. I can't wrap my head around the logistics of that. So I just want some answers:
1) Whats the age gap? 2) Is there a time gap/skip (of a year or so) between them just meeting and them getting together?

I'm sorry that you got the wrong impression from my comment. I wasn't trying to argue with or disregard your opinion on the drama. In fact, I was agreeing with you. It isn't necessarily a good drama 'cause it can be really silly and understandably just not to your or someone else's taste.
What I was saying is that if we look at it from a more logical and critical point of view, it should be rated below 8. But because persons probably find it easy to watch and enjoyable, and because the premise already prepares them for the ridiculous scenarios, they end up rating it purely based on that feeling of joy they get from watching it.
First it was kinda interesting to watch but .....Personally i do not think this deserve over 8.0 rating. I would…
I think it is at over 8 in rating not because it's a great story, but because people are enjoying it despite the dumb illogical bits. Every time they do a disguise or custom change, or follow elaborate plans, I do a mental facepalm and wonder how that would even begin to play out in real life. But it's still enjoyable because it is light and easy to watch.
Not to mention, the premise already tells you to suspend your disbelief. I mean, she has super vision? Ok lol
12-13: Love that Ning Meng isn't letting ML get away with anything. Now he's scrambling like a duck out of water to adjust to the new dynamic of their relationship.
Let's see what his next big gaffe will be, because you know he's going to put his foot in his mouth and ruin everything.
That is one way to look at it, and in the army I figure that method of training and disciplining subordinates…
Honestly I had began to wish for him continue to ignore the director she warned him about and that the director would cause some problems that would either cause controversy for the company or lose them alot of money just to see him come off his high horse.
That is one way to look at it, and in the army I figure that method of training and disciplining subordinates…
Thats so true, she already had the drive to become an investor before she met him, and despite his ridicule, she was still driven in the face of opposition from him and Division 2 and after all the rejections from the companies she interviewed for. She does not π§πππ him to guide her at all.
I know some viewers are hating the ML, but I sort of see where this is going. I have to tell a story...so bear…
That is one way to look at it, and in the army I figure that method of training and disciplining subordinates is necessary and nothing personal. I can see the tiniest bit where ML might eventually root for FL like that. But so far I think he genuinely believes that she is not capable and can not handle the investment world. He is being awful, not to teach her, but to have her give up. ML weaponized the job title secretary against the FL's self-confidence not to strengthen her but to tie her down to him. Just like Shi Ying told her, FL should stop referring to her past as a secretary and should look forward to her future.
Hoping his journey to becoming a generally nicer person will be fully fleshed out and not just a snap of the finger thing.
Epi 6-7: Xu Si Tian got a well deserved taste of her own medicine, and Shi Ying so far seems to be best boss and cooler older sister/aunt rolled into one. Love her. Look at Ning Meng thriving under a company and leaders actually walking her through the steps she needs to know as a beginner.
(Sidenote: I wish they showed us Director Qui's disgraceful exit.)
I hope that character development tag is exhausted on the ML because he is a piece of work.
What we have here is a truly hateful ML. He is rude, condescending, pompous, selfish, and more than a little sexist (when it comes to the FL at least). Rather than a secret crush, I'd say he developed an unhealthy attachment and probably a sense of ownership where FL is concerned, which is why he thinks he knows her best, and can say anything and decide everything regardless of what she wants or thinks. He is the dictionary definition of a realistic toxic boss; not physically abusive or needlessly irrational, but verbally and emotionally toxic.
I was waiting very impatiently for her cup to be full and for her to finally resign. I hope she gets to work as an investor somewhere that actually gives her wiggle space to carry out her job unlike Division 2 and Joint Capital that was actively crippling her for her to give up on her dream. (Sidenote: I'm almost certain that she will end up working with the lady investor she admires, Shi Ying)
This review is everything I simply could not articulate all those months ago when it was airing. I dropped it right after she said she liked them both, I couldn't even finish the episode.
