I like it for being something to watch and not being totally unwatchable. Though, Jasper's smile is the only really enjoyable aspect of this drama.
If you just want to watch something its fine as long as you can overlook the jam-packing of clichés and no real chemistry between characters... and no real plot cohesion... or character motivation especially on the FL side.
One minute she just wants to make money (which is understandable and fine) and then the next she is motivated to be a better scientist, then she's lackadaisical and does not care about upholding the integrity of experiment processes. Her only constant character point is liking her online boyfriend. Overall, FL character is inconsistent, underdeveloped and frankly mostly unlikable.
ML character is a bit weird and makes some questionable decisions but is still likeable. The jury is still out though.
I can see why the reviews are bad, and I'll have to say that it really can be described a bit as a "Record of…
Something that threw me off though with the leads is that even though they played so nicely as a solid, sweet pair, there was almost no skinship after the first kiss. Every time they were alone i expected them to at the very least share a hug or even blow kisses at each other but nothing. That was weird for a couple who were so comfortable with each other.
I can see why the reviews are bad, and I'll have to say that it really can be described a bit as a "Record of a waste of time". There were some really nice elements that could have been played more into. But overall, i enjoyed it for what it was; particularly the acting.
I loved Chu Li from Moonlight. Cutesy female leads don't typically appeal to me but her character was the definition of "catching more flies with honey than with vinegar". Everything she did was with smile, she was serious about her work, owned up to her downfalls and faced all obstacles head on. Loved that about her.
I skipped the weird tweaker voice's scenes, once I realized they were serious about continuing. I forgot to mention…
Bless Bin Bin's lips but nothing worth remembering was uttered. As dreadful as all if it was, the character and story-line I hate most is the 'innocent' friend. Everything else had no logic but her decisions and the way she allowed others (her brother) to badmouth her friends defied logic.
1. "Who needs enemies if you have friends like these." - My thoughts exactly 2. "Who da'f decided that one of the guy's voice dubbing was good to go....Aww man I got it in my head again" - I just muted or skipped over him talking cause why
3. Bin Bin face is the only pleasing aspect of this drama
When I saw this drama before it aired I thought it would have been cringe but I was pleasantly surprised when I started it. Overall, this was a sweet and enjoyable watch. The chemistry between the leads and supporting actresses and actors was amazing. I loved K's character especially (he noticed everything and snickered to himself like a cutie). I'll agree that the FL actress had some stiff moments but I still appreciated her acting and I think and hope that she will do much better in future projects. I also really loved that none of the characters were without flaw or were self-righteous throughout the drama. There were some moments where what happening in game was hard to understand but I still quite enjoyed it. Very happy that they devoted the final episode to the final game and not just sappy-ly wrapping up the drama.
The only redeemable/worthwhile character of her friends is the dr. And even her scenes are quite boring/bordeline cringe. The "innocent "one gets on my nerves even more than the rich one. She knows the lead is done with her cheating ex and yet she was still helping him. He looked so unstable when he was drunk and she still let him in and left him in the house with the girl. What if he had hurt her???? And then allows her brother the talk crap about the lead without correcting him. She can sympathize for the cheating creep she has a crush on but can't defend her best friend's reputation. Sickening really.
Also disappointed that she didnt set the record straight with her ex from earlier. He keeps saying she threw him away for a richer guy but she told him from before that her boss was a creep and that she was going to quit. And then he saw her drunk outside his apartment door and allowed a man to take his drunk girlfriend away because he didnt want to he caught. If anything had happened with her and the boss, the ex would have been partly at fault.
Allll that aside, I'll probably still watch for a bit because I'm curious about the two leads.
-edit- upto episode 22
She's not innocent, she's dumb and impressionable. She's willing to believe someone she saw dating and living with the person he's being accused of cheating with right after his break up but not her bestfriend who she saw was hurt by the whole thing. I have to wonder if she became friends with the lead to stay close to him. Remaining friends with him is one thing, but entertaining conversations about her friends being horrible and that the breakup wasn't entirely his conniving ass's fault is another. Sick of her.
thoughts on episode 1I liked that we're thrown right away into the action but where was the urgency when they…
My thoughts exactly. No part of the rescue seemed urgent, even when they were deciding whether or not to take off the car door. I stopped when he walked by her at the mystery box/hoop throwing scene cause I was just knew I wouldn't be able to handle the amount of cringe that was coming. To each his own, but this comes off as a cheap version of this plotline/story that's been aired about 4 times this year.
Generally, like many, I don't go for body-swap but a reviewer recommended so I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. The whole production was nicely done and the actors and actresses played their roles superbly. As silly as body-swapping is as a troupe, this drama handled it really well. It could have done without the ending, or at least left the facts of what was real and what wasn't open-ended but it was still a great watch nonetheless.
I'm surprised at how easy it is to imagine Dilraba Dilmurat as Hermione Granger. I clicked on this article because i was skeptical but I'm 100% convinced.
I haven't gotten past episode 2 but i was already feeling uninterested because a lot of what was happening was too flashy, avoidable and quite dumb for characters who are supposed to be smart and cunning.
I remember my entire family watching Brilliant Legacy and enjoying it. My Lovely Sam Soon was the drama that really got me interested and then I sought out on watched Boys Over Flowers on my own.
I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode. Some webtoon adaptations dont work out that well because they dont translate well on screen. I wasn't sure how this webtoon would come across as a drama (i haven't read a lot of the webtoon yet though...) so I think this first episode was really well done.
