On Love between Fairy and Devil Aug 16, 2022
Wow what a way to get me to watch all 22 episodes.... in 1 day... 1 DAY people. I have to say I'm SUPER glad I pushed through and decided to watch this series even though I had my doubts about it. When I first watched the trailer I was like meh... "this is gonna be one of those cliche Xianxia dramas" but boy was I wrong. Although I hated the FL voice at first it kinda grew on me. She's oddly endearing and although she started as the annoying ditz she's growing and changing as we can see from episode 10 and on; especially in the last few episodes 20-22. I had never seen any of the actors in other dramas before since I don't watch that many Chinese dramas due to their tropes and how majority of the time Xianxia and historical dramas tend to be tragedies but man this is one hell of a drama. I love the OST from episode 8 (who knew it was a brother and sister singing that track? That makes it even more beautiful).

Although most of the characters fits the stereotypical build for Chinese dramas, the performance is wonderful. The one thing I REALLY find refreshing is Chang Heng (CH). He's not your typical strong War God that is all powerful and THANK GOD that's different Especially since his mortal life is a complete opposite to his rigid life in the fairy world. He's not the all good all powerful good guy and thankfully it's so refreshing to see. I just LOVE how more attention is given to DFQ and we get to see how the bad guy isn't your typical bad guy. It's so nice to see that there's a "grey" side rather than black and white that you mostly see in Xianxia dramas. It's a breath of fresh air and it's good to see how they don't focus so much on side characters and get down to business. There's not a lot of flip flopping between the moon world and fairy world or the cliche clingy SFML who's obsessed with one of the ML THANK GOD. I just overall love the production as well.

I don't know about other people who pick on Dylan Wang but I LOVE his acting and the acting overall is great to me! Even though he's still a bit new to acting I LOVED his acting in episode 13 with the kiss scene. He's wonderful to see how he portrays the "bad" aspect of DFQ. Overall a wonderful series so far and man the OST is hitting me so HARD TT^TT I can't wait for moreeee.

He looks like one of these guys who are like "if I can't have you then I will destroy your life." It's funny because…
totally agree, it backfired so badly and it's sad to see his character go in this direction. I was hoping he would go back to spy on his dad and older brother to get some dirty information to help not being a major jerk lol

omg congrats ;A; this is wonderful to hear! I love them both as actors and fell in love with them as a pair in both the Negotiation and Crash landing on you so to see them happily married and have a child on the way is adorable. TT^TT

I will be quick. He is cute. I am not convinced by romance plot but I think it's a problem with bad writing. Romance…
me too! Fingers crossed he does a more mature role. I'd love to see him as a more complex, multi-layered older ML with some action or romance thrown in. Would be an interesting combo!

I totally agree. Although the romance is fast paced, it feels a bit off so hopefully the script will get better! I love him as an actor so I just hope he doesn't get too discouraged

After reading people's comments about how netizens are bashing on HIY and his acting I think that's absolutely ridiculous. His acting has been proven in the past, for example with True beauty, that he can play complicated characters and even in 18 again, his was a bully but he was suffering from abuse and neglect from his father. He clearly can act and just because he's now the main lead people feel the need to bash him? Saying he's not handsome enough or that he's had plastic surgery is also completely stupid. Yes K-pop artists, actors and tv show hosts ALL GET SOME KIND of plastic surgery but saying he's not handsome or that he's all plastic is just downright horrible, rude and frankly disgusting. As an actor he's under so much pressure from his company and agencies to look and be a certain way; he has to conform to what "society" deems as beautiful so even if he did or didn't get surgery what's the complaint? Practically everyone in Korea, actor or not, has gotten some form of plastic surgery since they shove it in their society and their faces.

It's completely stupid of them to say something like "Oh he's gotten so much surgery or he's not handsome enough" and yet like some of his other dramas just because he was the side second ML instead of now that he's the main lead. Not to mention it's going to ruin his confidence to be acting or choosing future ML roles instead of side characters and affect his chances of even getting ML roles.

To me he is a cute, wonderful actor and although I'm not a die hard fan and don't much about him, from what I've seen in interviews and shooting behind the scenes his co-stars say he's considerate and kind. Honestly I NEVER had a problem with this drama so far. Sure his character is the cookie-cutter good guy but he HAS shown some intensity and flare when it comes to him snapping at other lawyer. It's only 4 episodes in and we haven't seen what else he can offer to the role. Not to mention the script wrote his character that way so why be angry at the actor? It honestly baffles me when K-netizens act so pretentious and full of themselves. Honestly the pressure for Korean actors and K-pop artists is already enough, they don't need more pressure from ignorant common viewers who say anything they want over the internet because they feel like they have sway over everything. From a Western perspective, mine and international fans, he's doing a fantastic job and I agree. I've always loved his acting and him trying a new role and character type is wonderful. He's always the bad boy type so seeing him try new things should be encouraged instead. If they were true fans they would support his choice at trying new things.

This breaks my heart. I follow him on instagram so I hope he's doing well and I honestly love his acting and hope he continues his career without horrible interruptions like this.

My thoughts exactly! Because she hasn't ever been treated that way she's falling for someone who genuinely cares…
I'm really interested to see how things progress between them and how the romance will pan out throughout the political crime conspiracy plot.

I'm loving the dynamic between the ML and FL lead. In terms of romance I do agree with some that it came out of nowhere and that it was sudden, but I really liked the sudden shift between them and I can understand why some people might be confused or conflicted about it. However, I love the pairing. I think the reason that makes their soon to be romance interesting is that I think she kissed Gong Chan because she was starved for love.

As he said, and as t he knows it's one sided at the moment and as the viewers, we know that she doesn't really "LOVE" him yet. She is interested in him but I think it's because of his purity and how genuinely kind and innocent he really is. She's always surrounded by people who want to use her; her mom and brothers, her company and even her boss; she always surrounded by negativity, doubt and lies, but with Gong she even at times seems happy and innocent herself due to how "pure" minded he is. He's completely and whole heartedly kind with her and everything he says and does around her is genuine. I think the reason she kissed him despite not having very strong emotions about him yet is that he's so genuine with her. I love the complete contrast and although the political stuff does get a bit annoying, I love the story so far~

this looks so intriguing! I've only watched 2 dramas with Gao Wei Guang in them and he kills the cold, level headed ML so I can't wait to see this, not to mention supernatural romance historical period drama? Hell yes. This is like a nice cocktail mix of perfect genres. I just hope that it's good. I put this on my watch list half a year ago and I have no regrets but the wait will hopefully be worth it~! I'm just dying for a trailer at this point.

I don't know if they are meant to e the same characters because they have different names than in Be Loved in…
I for sure hope so too! It would be a darn shame considering how hard it was for them to get together in the first place. Still though it was so sad TT^TT

Title Plus & Minus Spoiler
Anyone else a bit upset that the main couple for Be loved in house I do is planning on getting a divorce? I loved that show and the build up for that couple was intense so I feel like them just getting a divorce seems like a light slap to the face? Idk it just feels kinda sad and upsetting somehow. They made a huge build up only for them to get divorced? I know it's for cameo purposes but it could have been done is so many other ways. Like them visiting Zheng Ze's dad's restaurant together as they're eating or at the bar and bump into them? I just hope they don't got through with it.

Also TOO MUCH TIME is wasted on the side couple. Both in this series and Be loved in house I do I just felt like with the either some extra budget and screen time to make the episodes longer we could have had more develop between the main couples. Don't get me wrong I like how cute and soft this series is like Be loved in house I do, but something's missing? Either way I'm loving this series but we need some more tension between the main couple since we're already on ep 6 with hardly any tension!

This started off so promising but it kinda fell off by ep 4. They’re giving too much time to the second couple…
I hate to admit it but I totally agree with you. I felt like they did that a bit too in Be loved in House I do. I just feel like they should either make the episodes a bit longer or cut back on side couples for these types of series.

Can I just say that this is one of the VERY FEW Chinese historical and Wuxia dramas that I can actually stand to watch? I've seen my fair share of historical C-dramas and this one takes the cake for me so far. I'm only on episode 12, but I'm loving this. Besides the somewhat annoying political stuff, this drama is so much better the usual historical Wuxia C-dramas I'm used to. I'm loving how fast pace the action and plot is for the first half of the show and I love how witty and smart majority of the characters are. It's a nice change of pace to have the ML and FL on equal footing in terms of power and psychological/emotional maturity. Most of the time I don't mind the typical overly kind cute, and gentle FL that's soft and somewhat dumb but I have to admit a powerhouse FL is much better. The writing is smooth and character dialogue and bantering between ML and FL lead is awesome.

THE FLIRTING between CP Feng Lan Xi and Feng Xi Yun is spot on! Right from the get go around episode 4 we start to see how flustered she makes him and Jesus I love Yang Yang's acting! I love how subtle he is when he gets flustered but he does a bang up job with expressing his emotions of jealousy, flirtations and overall prowess as the protentional Crown prince. I can't wait to continue this.
