They really should build on their relationship from the past because atp it seems like Prim is just going out…
I mean bambi is a manipulative stalker who knows exactly what buttons to push bc their history. I don't fault prim for getting tangled back up in her abusive ex's bullshit but it is exhausting to see that she knew bambi was just trying to get her attention and she still did what bambi wanted bc she let her anxiety win instead of putting her foot down. but next week we're getting prim snapping π
prim is so much nicer than she should be lol. I am also quite the worrier but there's no way in hell I would go make sure bambi is okay if I'd just spent days dealing w her nonstop harassment like prim has
prim get behind me!!!!!!!!!!! I am getting so fed up w complaints about prim "having no backbone" when it comes to bambi as if bambi isn't a manipulative stalker who knows exactly what buttons to push to make prim do what she wants due to their history. just say you hate abuse survivors ffs
You expressed exactly how I felt about this series in pure details, I really hate how a lot of CBL's get overly…
yeah agreed that characterization felt inconsistent, I feel like Yi Wei and Pei Jia both had 180 character turns out of nowhere and we're just supposed to accept it bc we're supposed to be on board w these romances lol.
thank you for the kind words / your comment in general π
I mainly got more information from series recaps, non-biased reviews, and two friends who watched the series as…
yeah it was a very excrutiating watch and it boggles my mind that this was released only a decade ago when the predatory romance feels like something that belongs in an '80s film. and I'm nearly finished with the script! (it's looking like it's going to be about an hour long π΅βπ«π΅βπ«π΅βπ« me vs making short videos lmaooooo.) thank you for your interest and I will def share the link once it's up! hopefully sometime next week π€
I'm literally scripting a video essay atm about how fucking wack it is that this show is so popular when the age gap romance is so central to the story. as someone who sat through the whole thing (curiosity almost always gets the better of me π₯²) I could not agree more about your thought of Goblin being found family for Eun-tak, esp given her losing her mom so young. and also hard agree about your comment down here that he treated her like trash. I'm not sure what details you gathered from elsewhere since you only watched the first episode, but there's a plot thread where Eun-tak starts crushing on a boy she knew from her childhood that she reconnects with and Goblin like... basically throws a tantrum about this and, as Eun-tak has moved in with him bc she's genuinely unsafe living w her aunt, he forces her to do a bunch of chores around the house that are very labor intensive under the threat of her being homeless if she doesn't comply. like.... wow. the writers understood her aunt was abusive but now her love interest is treating her the same way and it's treated as humorous bc he's jealous. it's just so π€’π€’π€’π€’π€’
wish the summary had included that she transmigrates into the foster sister of the lead character....... really tired of this "they're not blood siblings so it isn't incest" mentality
Honestly, I'm looking for negative reviews because I feel like I can't be the only one who thinks this drama is…
Yeah, I feel like the politest I can be is still "wow this is dreadfully boring" lmao. 100% agree that the romance feels fake, I could not understand why they were falling for each other β I'm just told that they have and I'm supposed to go along with it. And if there's one thing I can't stand it's forced unearned relationship development lol so... just a very painful watching experience.
Not gonna lie,I actually agree with many parts of your review. I was also having a hard time for lazy story writing,so…
TY for your response π«Ά I can see what you're saying about Ji Bozai developing feelings for "Ming Yi" despite not truly knowing her due to the belief she wasn't after the Golden Millet Dream like everyone else was. I guess my frustration is that the show wants the audience to fill in most of the blanks when it comes to their initial feelings because I just never felt like their romance was earned.
And yeah, obviously by the end Ming Xian/Situ Ling wouldn't work π But while the initial set up of his character obviously had hints of what was coming, it didn't *have* to be read that way and I am just very weak for the "I will do anything to prevent harm coming to you" flavor of devotion that he was exhibiting. 100% was not healthy, 100% he was obsessed with this pedestalized version of Ming Xian so that he couldn't see the real her. But before we peel back enough layers to know that, I do think the Ming Xian/Situ Ling dynamic worked better as a romance than Ming Xian/Ji Bozai did.
since the past few episodes had been making me nervous, I've been slowly making my way through a rewatch lol and in ep 11 bai hehuai says, βthis place is no dream. itβs your journeyβs end.β and if I say the ending will be bai hehuai, su muyu, and su changhe living a peaceful life in nan'an!!!!!
The Princess is just ππππ· her character feels like a reckless teen. I'm on episode 17, and I feel…
I mean xiyang is canonically 19. also her storyline reads as a critique of dark romance imo bc she behaves exactly like female protagonists do in that genre but bc this show is interrogating the genre, xia jingshi does not care about how loyal she is, he doesn't care about the sacrifices she will make for him. the whole entire point is that she sacrifices over and over and over bc of misogynistic conditioning from her father and stepmother and the power of love will not make someone change.
as for why fu yixiao trusts feng suige, she literally nearly killed him at pingling and then like literally only a month later he gets her to safety before risking his life to save a-fang. and between that moment in ep5 and ep17 he's protected her multiple times. it's very clear why she starts to trust feng suige imo.
that's my girl <3
