TY for your response 🫶 I can see what you're saying about Ji Bozai developing feelings for "Ming Yi" despite not truly knowing her due to the belief she wasn't after the Golden Millet Dream like everyone else was. I guess my frustration is that the show wants the audience to fill in most of the blanks when it comes to their initial feelings because I just never felt like their romance was earned.
And yeah, obviously by the end Ming Xian/Situ Ling wouldn't work 😂 But while the initial set up of his character obviously had hints of what was coming, it didn't *have* to be read that way and I am just very weak for the "I will do anything to prevent harm coming to you" flavor of devotion that he was exhibiting. 100% was not healthy, 100% he was obsessed with this pedestalized version of Ming Xian so that he couldn't see the real her. But before we peel back enough layers to know that, I do think the Ming Xian/Situ Ling dynamic worked better as a romance than Ming Xian/Ji Bozai did.

I mean xiyang is canonically 19. also her storyline reads as a critique of dark romance imo bc she behaves exactly like female protagonists do in that genre but bc this show is interrogating the genre, xia jingshi does not care about how loyal she is, he doesn't care about the sacrifices she will make for him. the whole entire point is that she sacrifices over and over and over bc of misogynistic conditioning from her father and stepmother and the power of love will not make someone change.
as for why fu yixiao trusts feng suige, she literally nearly killed him at pingling and then like literally only a month later he gets her to safety before risking his life to save a-fang. and between that moment in ep5 and ep17 he's protected her multiple times. it's very clear why she starts to trust feng suige imo.

FYX's hand was injured at the start of the show and as her weapon of choice is a bow and arrow, she wasn't doing a ton of fighting in the first half but she's saved FSG probably a dozen times since it's healed. 2. FYX slowly regains pieces of her memory as the story progresses, iirc she's fully regained her memory by ep 16 or 17. 3. first kiss is ep17 4. FSG is definitely exhibiting jealousy when Xia Jingshi is in the Susha kingdom. only lasts for like 3 or 4 episodes. 5. FYX and FSG are literally trying to kill each other in the first two episodes. the show literally opens with FYX shooting FSG with an arrow in a battle and it was almost a fatal shot.

he seemed pretty distressed, I think murong yao really thought feng suige was dead. I think feng suige might have pretended to pass out to avoid more stabbing before he fully slipped into unconsciousness. I honestly think murong yao's main emotion when feng suige returns tho is going to be relief and I'm curious to see what feng suige's reaction is. he definitely noticed murong yao's inability to deal a killing blow and the tears when he stabbed him so I don't think feng suige will have it in him to kill murong yao, but I don't see how their relationship can recover from this.
