I'm interested in seeing ZLH play a darker role and a character with questionable morals like possibly the ML here. In MJTY he plays a very upright, likeable and sympathetic character. I don't think people will confuse the two roles even if they see them back to back. It would be nice if this airs after My Journey to You.
I think I might have to stay away from Cheng Yi dramas for a while because of the endings. I'm still not over the ending of Stand by Me and this one has a distinctly similar feeling to it. He seems to be drawn to tragic characters who are down and out, weak and cynical towards life. Frankly I preferred his character as the emperor in Stand by Me because I felt he was more relatable and sympathetic. I might have to forego watching Hero Legends until I find some clarity on what type of character his going to play and the ending they are going to give that drama.
After the disaster that was Chong Zi I would have thought YCY would venture to other genres instead of doing another xianxia/cultivation drama. Maybe she might redeem herself in Love You Seven Times. It's a shame I did like her rookie performance in Dance of the Phoenix.

And you lack any pretence of objectivity. Surely you know that. I'm just acknowledging you for being honest for not having an ounce of uneasiness in casting away any trace of fairness in your opinions.
After the events of episode 18 any forced and contrived love line for CY would look well out of place. I don't want another rehash of the Blood of Youth where they had ML get together with a girl just for the sake of forcing a romantic ending.

It's good you know and acknowledge your obvious lack of objectivity based on irrelevant and lingering feelings of the actress in another work. Not many people are that shameless.
Anyone not liking Chen Du Ling's character because of her role in Till The End of the Moon get over yourself and keep that silly and stupid reason out of the discussion. She managed to pissed off a lot of people in that drama including me but to carry that feeling into this drama and her character is a disservice and an insult to her performance here.
I wouldn't recommend this show but it is one of the few shows that I watched to the end despite a badly written…
This is my exact feeling. I love this genre so I may be bias but this is not unwatchable and if you are a fan of cultivation dramas then this one is more than adequate. The productions value isn't great and the story could have been better but for me this is engaging and not boring at all.
I'd have given this a higher score if the FL didn't suddenly became a crazy, high strung and hateful character towards the end. I really did like her for the most part but her character transformation was not welcome in my view. These opera like mad scenes are not my liking or my taste. Since I did like this show for the most part I'd give this a solid 8.0 but it will never rise more than that after watching this arc.
I'm kinda shock at how campy and contrived this looks from what I imagined. The first episode alone was a hot mess with a ridiculous story about pirates and their leader who is the FL and her scheme to infiltrate the palace by forcibly marrying ML. The writers were too bright for their own good.
I always watch these kinds of cultivation dramas unless the rating and consensus is it's unwatchable like Chongzi. I'm actually enjoying this very much and I've catched up with the latest episodes except the ending. Hopefully that insolent and annoying tw*t Ji Rong gets a really nasty ending.
Wait, when did she claim poverty to the ml? Did I missed something? From what I understand, she is just a normal…
You obviously don't have much eye for expensive fashion. Actually those are real luxury branded items. Her entire ensemble is more than 3k USD. Are you suggesting this is normal for working class people? There's no need to try and hide the obvious. Intelligent and knowledgeable people could tell straight away.
Not that I'm complaining too much but it's funny seeing Cheon Sa Rang wearing some really expensive luxury outfits even though she self-deprecates and claims poverty all the time to the ML. The one she was wearing to meet the ginseng hunter is the most conspicuous and ridiculous.
