yeah, i’m in some sort of dilemma too. because if he suffered from the pain of losing his weibei army, she also suffered from the pain of losing 100000 souls of her villagers. and of course, he gave her the will to live, trained her so she could take revenge. but i still think that the training was too harsh, that she suffered and lost so much in the process.
but the writing kinda give the middle ground to them imo. they didnt make MJH as lunatic as we could hoped for, hence it seems like his character is redeemable. if he stick to lunatic, i think, there’s no way i can ship him with mei lin. plus, he became softened because of her, i still remember they used to have conflicting opinions on how to treat the innocent people in the name of revenge. but after he know mei lin, he slowly changed his attitude and the way he treated other people.

since murong jinghe is the master of the shadow, if you’re mei lin, will you forgive him for all the things he had done to you? what do you think about the pain he inflicted on her, just to train her to become asassin, so he can carry out the revenge mission? is his character redeemable?

haha no biggies. it’s fun you know. brilliant i could say. i always enjoyed reading explanations and details about characters. sometimes i think am too dumb to understand the complex and grey characters but people in the comments always helped me to get better understanding of it. different opinions offered us different perspectives towards things, that’s cool imo.
wow i spent so much of my time reading comments down here. it’s quite an interesting discussion. love that everyone come up with different explanations and povs about the characters. and trust me, after reading all of you guys comment, this drama suddenly become an interesting one for me. much better than the experience i got while watching the drama (perhaps because i only see what i wanted to see not understanding fully all the reasons of the actions). and trust me when i said, i ended up agreeing with all your comments. un-freakin-believable! but how awesome it is that after reading different opinions, my opinions about characters changed too? damn interesting. not sure why they name this show after dear hyeri, like hyeri isn’t even a big factor here. the title is a misleading, even more the script. they should change it to “wae namyeon” that’s the only line i remember almost everyone in this drama uttered.
losing a lot of my brain cells after watching eps 9-10. and we still have another two episodes? for what?! it seems like we got the ending already, a proper one even. not sure what else they gonna show.
anyway, i guess after all we keep coming back to the familiarity instead of trying to build something new. the way eun ho rather choose the 8 years relationship over “i’ll give up everything for you” because well, it felt the right way. though the relationship make you lonely in most days, bound towards the uncertainty of the future, countless of arguments, throwing hate towards each other, but still, that one also give you happiness and comfort you. hence, i try to understand eun ho choice.
still, if kang joo yeon is the deal.. i will not think twice. i rather give up everything for him too. but after all, she’s not hyeri. only hyeri loves kang joo yeon 🥺
i remember watching this at the beginning thinking “oh, i can guess instantly who’s the killer (after watching suho acting weirdly).” after that, looking na gyeom acting quite sus all this time, i thought she’s the killer. you see, all my prediction is wrong because they’re all in this together (just in different roles). because after watching so many crime drama, you ought to guess at the first who’s the potential killer.. and being the observer, your guess might be true. but here, all of them acting weirdly accept the cop and jeong woo. but that’s the uniqueness and i like it.
surely it took a whole village to raise a devil/devils. they all had their roles in it. and like one of the comments here; it’s true, this drama didn’t focus much on who’s done it, but more to the reasons why it’s done.
plot wise; i think it should be shorter than 14. the more the drama dragged it; the more frustrated i became. and many would say, the passive jeong woo is a bit insufferable. but i’ve come to accept it, that’s his true nature. he could never be a violent person, he values everything/everyone although all of them failed him. and this is what the show trying to show us.
my heart goes to geon ho and jeong woo’s father, they deserved nothing but love. they fight for their belief and try their best to prove that jeong woo is innocent.
this has an excellent start and worth watching, you just need to endure the extra few episodes and serve with the proper closure.
till what episode were released now? i’m quite nervous thinking i’ll be left behind too far. i’m still on ep7. the nerves to keep up with the drama and at the same time, trying to do so many other things in life 😩
this looks promising tbh. finished 4 episodes in one sitting, im hooked. the visuals are visualising! cant wait for the hou zhanbai to reunite with ziye. oh, cinematography is so pleasantly beautiful.
