As someone who has first hand experience in Thai beliefs and culture vs you, someone who doesn't even know Karma spans through past, present, and future, which one of us seems to know more about karma? 🤔 You're literally a joke. 1. I didn't make stuff up. Google search it or ask a Thai person yourself. I myself grew up in Thailand and experience these beliefs first hand so what I am saying is what I was taught growing up. Educate yourself on other's culture, especially about the one you're watching.
2. I didn't say she deserves the torture. I explain why she could have suffered via karma.
3. According to karma, everyone's current life (to some degree) is the result of karma, so whatever circumstances they go through, IS their karma playing out. Karma is not exact, Karma does not choose what kinds sufferings or fortunes you will get. Whether a women getting beat by her husband is right or wrong, whether she deserves it or not, is not up to Karma to decide. Karma is just the cause and effect. And in Thai belief, Karma CAN affect different life times, not just your current life. Your actions this life can affect your next life, and your circumstances this life was the result of your past life. The cycle of Karma is continuous with each reincarnation.

Perhaps you're unfamiliar with how Thai culture and belief works regarding Karma? I'm not justifying her suffering at all. I don't think anyone deserves to go through what she did. I'm simply explaining how Thai belief system about Karma would work to explain her suffering as well. Karma does not victim blame, karma is cause and effect. And you can either get good or bad effect, based on whether your cause was good or bad. Do good = good karma, do bad = bad karma.

Karma in Thai works exactly as I've explained it, I'm not "making up stuff" just because I want to, this is how it literally works. We may not know her exact actions since her past wasn't part of the plot, but we do know she did do something bad, just based off the rules of Karma. According to Karma, nobody suffers for no reason and nobody gets fortunes for no reason. Both good and bad are the result of karma you've built up. Even the baby that got thrown into the water has his own karma. The belief system would explain that he simply did not have enough good karma (merit) to be born into a good life. Nobody deserves any of the suffering but Karma explains why it could have happened.

Even the evil head wife has her own karma. She was born as a noble and lived a good rich life, she had good enough karma to get there. But she obviously has some bad karma too, which is why she constantly gives birth to stillborns. After enacting her evil deeds on Rampheung and her child, she probably stacked up a truckload of bad karma and got sent to hell to suffer for it. This is all karma.

I wish people would do more research into the cultures they're watching because you assuming I'm making up stuff shows me you know absolutely nothing about Karma and how it works in Thai culture 🤦‍♂️If what I'm saying is unbelievable to you, then a simple google search will surfice, you know. The culture is vast and complex but one thing for sure is, this is how karma works. And Ramphueng's multi-generational curse and her enacting karma itself by killing is 100% against the natural order of karma.

Of course, no offense taken, thank you for your input. I think your understanding of karma differs from mine, so that is probably why we interpret the apology differently. In Thai, there is punishment or reward. Good deeds = good karma, while bad deeds = bad karma. Essentially, if you do good, then good things will befall you, if you do bad, then you will suffer.

So in this instance, it leads to my assumption that Rampheung's own suffering by the hands of the husband, head wife, second wife, and little girl, could just be her own karma as well from a previous life. She did something bad in her previous life, which is why she is suffering for it. But Ramphueng was reborn and obviously does not remember what she could have done wrong in the previous life to cause her to suffer in her slave timeline, so after all her suffering, does she still owe someone out there an apology too? I don't think she does, because it is none of her business what her previous life did, which is why I think neither does Khem owe her an apology.

His remembering of the past is a special case, because she inserted herself as his karma, instead of letting the soul meet its natural karmic suffering, but it isn't a reason to apologize, because under normal circumstances, reincarnations don't have memories for a reason and they aren't expected to apologize for a reason. The past is the past. Karma takes care of what comes next. And Rampheung was the one who crossed that karma boundary.

Magic Lover, right? I agree. It's a romance comedy, so I don't think there's gonna be much of a serious tone like Khemjira. Which is fine on its own. Different genres for different folks, right? Personally for me though, it does seem a bit too cartoonish for my taste. The other issue I've seen people bring up is how there's gonna be 3 couples and people were concerned about screen time vs plot progression.

Yes, exactly. The people who are supposed to apologize to her are long dead. The people who can apologize cannot give it, because they no longer exist in the same sense Rampheung still exists. Khem is not the one who is responsible for apologizing.

In addition, she should have died and not have to "suffer for all generations" if she had not became a curse. She cursed herself into generaional suffering. The lesson here is to let Karma do its thing. Regardless of her reason, her suffering, she is still in the wrong. Curses never result in a positive outcome, no matter who uses it.

I think the reason Khem didn't apologize is because he didn't do anything wrong. We have to remember, Khem is the same soul, but he is not the little girl. He has nothing to apologize for.

Rampheung suffered a lot and we all understand her pain, but she is not justified to hunt down multiple generations of people and also involving randos as collateral damage. She took Karma into her own hands by becoming a curse and that is against Karma itself. Karma is supposed to be nature. She is the only one wrong in all of this, that is why she apologized. She also built up a good amount of negative karma while she did her multi-generational hunt, which she will have to pay for.

I'm a horror fan so idk if my opinion matters, but i thought the scare factor was only the strongest during the 1st episode. Everything after that didn't make an impression on me. I give it a 1/10 scary factor. I think if you just get through the 1st, you will enjoy the rest of the show without much scare.

I think that's just how it works in the entertainment industry. Visual appeal is everything. Just look at Kpop. Depending on which company you look at, music is secondary to idol's visual prowess.

As for people, psychology explains people associate good looks with positive traits.

So all in all, an industry that churns out good looks will match perfectly with an audience that prefers good looks.

And that is why BL and audience are obsessed with looks.

one of my first ever thai BL. I watched this when i was still in high school. obviously not quite my stanard anymore as i've expanded my tastes, but for its time, it was great and definitely my gateway to BL. a classic and nostalgic.

True. In most interviews I've seen them do, they mention that they are new actors and are thankful for being part of Khemjira and fans love for Khemjira. And they try their best. I think all actors (aside from the actual senior ones with more shows on their resume) are aware that they are rookies and there is room for improvement. No rookie has the balls to claim they're already good as is. Imo fans shouldn't have the balls to claim that either, it looks embarrassing to glaze a rookie actor when actual experienced actors out there are still constantly seeking to improve their acting. They did try their best, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement either.

I think this is pretty typical of BL fans behavior. Sad to say but it's not new that BL fans just hate women who come in between the gays. Like even in Khemjira, when Prim who hasn't even done a single thing wrong, just existing wanting to shoot her shot, she still got ridiculed and painted as some antagonist (while Phong who also shoot his shot at Khem was considered a funny guy who is Pharan's rival). Pin has much more flaws, (but definitely still valid) no wonder people are laying it on her. There are definitely biases when it comes to hating Pin, because it's beyond just pushback against her behavior, it's refusal to even consider her pov at all.

Abosutely! To each their own opinion, that is beauty of having preferences 😌 All shows make it on the list order dependent on different people's opinions. Twinkling watermelon is probably not for everyone, same as Khemjira may also not be for everyone. Or vise versa.
