By episode 8 or 9, I noticed a shift in my concentration on the show. I think the first half was good. I spent all night watching and thoroughly enjoying. But once they got together, it’s just like every other kdrama couple. I thought the “conflict” with the evil spirit would actually be a major plot but that was just a small inconvenience to Wooyeo. The second half was alright but I found myself skipping long pointless scenes. What really helped me through this wasn’t really the story by the end of it, it’s more about the character dynamic.
I genuinely love every character, except Sunwoo, and their personalities. I like how communication and honesty is a go-to response during misunderstandings. Not a lot of beating around the bush and straight to the point. This was more prevalent in the first half, which is why I enjoyed it more. I understand they needed to reduce the communication and honesty in the second half for the sake of moving the story forward, but I thought it really dulled the story down. The foundation that initially caught my attention was suddenly torn apart so it definitely ruined my concentration on the story. But they were all still likable characters so I managed to finish this.
Overall, it was decent. The plot wasn’t all that interesting but the characters definitely were.
You obviously didn't get the characters and the scene. And nobody is fetishizing abusive behaviour. You can appreciate…
Ya I didn't think the scene was supposed to be "hot" either, cuz clearly the characters were displaying that they were both hurt during all of it. I actually felt the same discomfort the characters felt while watching it. Sam even commented on the scene as well and said it wasn't supposed to be romantic. But a lot of fans took that scene and rolled with it, happy that they got some action.
I still can't understand why this mess is higher rated than No1 For You.
Maybe cuz they're proper adults now, rather than college students. And also people like that it expanded on the other couple as well. Personally I didn't really care for the side couples, but I do find the adult work setting more compelling than the college setting. Regardless I rated both the same but those might be some reason others rated this one higher, based on what I've seen discussed.
Im so dissapointed thez just had to add some drama so they had a second season. And the reason is so stupid 'ooh…
or the fact that shide could've just texted something like "hey man, my mom was pregnant and had complications so yeah imma be busy for a bit. luv ya ^3^" ??? (before the emails got intercepted and before Shiyu got his phone confiscated. we know it was quite a while before Shiyu visited and had his meltdown. You telling me during the entire time that baby had time to grow, Shide didn't reply or attempted to contact Shuyi once???) lol and i know life can be VERY busy but it will only take 1 minute out of your routine to text something like that to your lover. to go MIA and expect things to be normal is baffling.
Soooooo is it me or did they mark Zhou Shu Yi as the top and Gao Shi De as bottom? I’m referring to the morning…
Imo it doesn't really matter who's what. It didn't even play any significance to the plot anyway. But if you really care, based on their interaction as their characters during interviews etc, ShiDe is always the "husband" so that's your answer.
"I already said people can post their opinions." Yes, you did. But you know what else you also did? Make these long posts to address those opinions and tell them "judge without morality". You can't really have it both ways you know. Tell someone they can have an opinion then completely try to overwrite those opinions. You expect people to react a certain way then when unsatisfied with the results, you make these long posts. Is it not basically you trying to get people to think the way you do? You don't have to answer, it's a rhetorical questions. I don't expect an answer anyway because I respect your opinions on the series (I actually think they're good analysis, so there's that), I just don't respect your activities against people viewing the series through their own perspectives.
"He also thinks a rape happened during this series. Essentially he is impossible to talk to, lol." See how you're already being dismissive of me just because I think of the situation differently? All of your posts is basically this.
But I'll stop here too. I commented what I thought and that's all that matters to me. I'm sure I'll be seeing y'all again in another drama/series comment section. Until then. Ciao~
The recent posts weren't being rude to people who like the character though, were they? Yet we see soli posting again and again addressing those said people. The recent age gap, step-bro, and rape comments have been on the story, not on y'all who defend it. Whatever y'all experienced prior to this I do not know so I won't speak for, but I don't think people should have judged y'all for liking the character.
The reason why I said you mocked people is in one of your earlier comments, you essentially dismiss people who have said they were uncomfortable, stating they shouldn't judge this series with morals. Going back to what I said, you chose to view this without, why can't people view this with? By dismissing people's genuine reaction because that is not the same reaction you had, are you not basically mocking them?
As for your point about international films, I watch western movies too and I have seen many commentary about the morality of the shows. Just recently with Wonder Women 1984 there were multiple debates on whether Wonder Women raped the unknown man being used as a vessel. The morality lenses is and will always be applicable in all films. If you choose not to use it, then you do you. But others do not have to.
And finally, I described your activities as such by the posts you made and it is purely my assumption, therefore you can say I am wrong if that is not what you are doing.
Overall, post whatever you want about this series, how much you love it, how compelling, whatever, it is your entitlement. But other people's perspective are also just as entitled as yours. Sure, if you say you are not crossing any lines. But telling people to stop putting morality first, that is essentially your first step into crossing that line. The line I am talking about is in between opinionating about the series and opinionating about other people's opinion. Once you go from talking about the series to talking about how people (especially people who already watched the series, not new watchers) should view the series, you've crossed the line. That's it.
Hope you have a nice day too. In terms of you being civil, you are more better than the other guy in this thread. But you dress your words well so insults are rather indirect.
The only thing I have to say to your art analogies is art is subjective. You can see art however you want and that is the beauty of it. You've chosen to let go of morality to view this series, what you don't seem to understand is others choose to view it through morality. Like yourself, they made a choice.
The rape aside, even the age-gap and the step-brother factor. Those things are inherently based on the persons opinions, you coming out to mock people for being uncomfortable is literally so low.
You've dressed it well by saying you don't want people ruining the experience for others, but in actuality, you just don't like that others simply did not see "art" the way you did. I've seen your other comments, both these long ones and the short ones replying to others. You react the same way, unable to accept that people just don't like the series as much as you do. Seeing how much you put this series on a pedestal, that assumption has merit. It seems less about explaining, more about telling people to stop thinking the way they do, and think the way you do. That crosses a line, different from simply "explaining" certain aspects of the story.
I'm not saying Licheng and Teng's parts was bad, they were suuuuper cute and the acting is good, but sometimes the execution and situation can be a little awkward and give second hand embarrassment. Imo Yongjie and Xingsi's parts were definitely more complex but.....I don't like their story so. Sigh. Anyone have recommendations for BLs? Any country is fine.
Exactly why I say you can't explain things how you see it then expect people to see it the way you do. If she doesn't see it that way, go for it, explain why it's not rape. But don't come for people who saw it differently and try to tell people to think otherwise. Her posts have always been in response to more people commenting about disliking the bro story. You and Rehab as well. I can respect y'all explaining why y'all like the show and how y'all see it, but I can't respect how everyone is expected to see it the way y'all do.
For example "If you can deprogram yourself you can have a good time. Just open your mind and just realize, hey, I have these weird ideas that I actually don't even believe in when I look at them up close. Just have a good time without worrying about all these moral dilemmas that don't really exist."
My question is, why should people "deprogram" themselves if what they're thinking is their genuine reaction and opinion? So the people who disliked aspects of the show are "programmed" to think a certain way and people who liked the show have been "deprogrammed". That's exactly what I call expecting other's to see the show the same way as you do. No one is "programmed" to think anything. They just think that way. Just like how y'all have your own thoughts about the show.
