One of those dramas where I can confidently say it's pretty solid. Yes I do think there are minor flaws but overall, everything comes together. Definitely recommend this to watch for BL watchers. It's one of the better ones out of the bunch imo.
Pretty good. Since we only got 6 episodes, I can see why they needed to speed up the development of the relationship, so I won't harp on the pacing. A simple comment is Shu Yi fell very quickly. Overall, nice watch. Onto the sequel/S2.
No wonder his Japanese was so spot on lol I was like huh the guy they casted must've learned Japanese or smth. Turns out he's half. A pleasant surprise.
Overall random thoughts I collected after watching.
Skipped all the Xingsi and Yongji storyline after rape scene - Xingsi is a likable character but the person he’s paired with, the little brother psycho, is just very unlikable as a romance partner. His character when not viewed as a love interest is kind of funny though, I’ll give them that. During the parts when Licheng was asking for advice to pursue Teng, this guy gave ridiculously misleading advice with this monotone and serious face and Licheng just ate it all up like the fool that he is, and that was funny. - When after the drunk rape (or no rape? Idk I kept seeing people say he staged it and they never did it (Let me know if it was really rape). REGARDLESS didn’t care enough to find out and he still made Xingsi think they did something and Xingsi cried about it so let’s count it has rape) Xingsi decided to ignore him, this mf spams his phone and sends a picture insinuating he’s going to jump off a building to get Xingsi to come to him. Just. Every red flag in a toxic relationship this dude has ticked. I hate him as a romantic partner and I do not feel sorry saying that. This HIStory installment could have done WITHOUT this second couple. - I have no deep comments on the father reconciliation/confession/coming out the closet parts because as I said, I skipped this storyline. But on the parts I did happen to pass as I was skipping through, I saw that stalker boy psycho actually showed a video of Xingsi to the father which made him collapse. Have no clue but looks to me he outed Xingsi. (Feel free to correct me on this). Later on Xingsi says he “confessed” about his sexuality, nah boo, you were forced to come out by your crazy little brother. Xingsi getting paired with this insufferable guy is just sad.
Licheng and Teng. - I think like many others I didn’t like that Licheng was using Teng to get to the girl. It’s just stupid. The whole idea of pretending to be gay so the girl who assumes you’re gay will like you doesn’t even make sense to begin with so when you drag a third person and make them uncomfortable in the process, that’s just a no from me. - Aside from that, their relationship was actually pretty cute and relatively healthy (when compared to Xingsi and crazy mf). I think they try to communicate well despite a lot of arguments in between. Licheng can be insensitive and unaware of his big mouth but he’s really trying to get Teng. Teng is someone who’d rather be unbothered and be left alone but he’s caring too. I think their relationship worked for the most part and was tolerable to sit through.
General comments - “I don’t like men, I just like him.” Yeah we’ve heard this too many times. You’re not gay, you just like this guy. Not that this can’t be true, but just that this is such a trope to tell a clearly gay story without it actually being gay. Tired of it. Thought we were over this. At the beginning I actually had hopes that Licheng would be bisexual representation but that quickly went out the window. - Was it Gil or something? the girl that Licheng introduced to Teng. I really like her. She was used and rejected but the girl took it like a pro. You can tell she really liked him and was hurt but she didn’t turn evil and plot some revenge on him. Great character. Just a plot device for Licheng and Teng’s story but she was a likable one. - Meifang’s character for the most part I’m okay with. But I just don’t like how she’s projecting her fantasy. She’s the typical fujoshi that will ship any two moving male bodies. She saw a little closeness and took off with it. I can see that she only has good intentions for Licheng’s fake pursuit on Teng, but I wonder how different things would have been if she’d just been a regular person and minded her business. - The parents and their “love” for the psycho mf. Sorry but if I heard my son was attacking people, I’d be furious. But these parents just gave him a pat on the back and be like, don’t do it again uwu. The dude assaulted someone sir and ma’am, you got a criminal on your hands. Send this dude to therapy or smth. Idk they just seemed very far removed from reality the things that their son was doing. I mean the mom was saying how she’s afraid he’ll turn out bad or smth but that’s the extent of it, I think. Again, I skipped so Idk. Could be wrong. - Xingsi and his “love” for the psycho mf. No. That’s it. Not even the hot kisses can lure me to watch these two. On that note, I think the actor who plays Yongji did a great job. Really made me dislike him. - Tell me why the bath dream scene at the beginning was WAY more sensual than the actual sex scene LOLOLOL. Idk, something about that bath scene. I felt like I was intruding on something and had to look away a couple times. - Given the past HIStory installments, this one feels like we really went back in time and reversed quality. Did they change screen writers or smth?
Overall - ONLY watch Licheng and Teng’s story. I say this with confidence. But if you’re into crazy people and toxic relationships, go for it. - All the actors did good. As good as it could get. Personally I thought the acting could have used some work but maybe that’s on the directing.
Yeah I'll just pretend that the stalker boy and Xingsi story line doesn't exist. Not because they're step siblings or whatever, but because I just don't like the stalker boy in general and how he works. Especially not after the drunk scene. Nope. I just couldn't get into it.
Hmmm on ep 3. Not really liking this stalker thing.....please don't be toxic. Edit: Okay he just assaulted Teng. Yep, I already don't like this guy. Not sure how they're gonna weave him into the story as the other main character but good luck, I'm not into it. Edit again: And he's the step bro too....ugh. We couldn't just have this story without them as the second couple? lol. Edit again: Comment on the girl. Not really liking how she's projecting her own BL fantasy on this guy. Yes, he's also stupid for relying on this BL thing to get close to her, but she was already thinking things before he even proposed he's into BL or whatever. I know, it's all fun and games blah blah blah but it's really unnecessary imo. I wish they had approached this differently. She can be into BL but not this thirsty for it, ya know.
Wow didn't realize Prem was the same age as me, just a couple months older. I thought he was older because he seems so mature and well put together. Childlike at times yes but he has the air around him.
Okay so something I learned about Boun is he's cautious about his age and how that affects his role as an actor. In multiple interviews he's mentioned probably going into working behind the scenes (producer, director etc) because he's "keeping his options open and you never know what the future holds". (In one interview he mentions Director New actually had a project for Boun to work on as director but Boun turned him down because he didn't think he was ready to direct other actors yet since he was a pretty new actor with little experience himself). Basically, he's wary that once he gets older, people won't hire him as an actor anymore and he's already preparing to work behind the scenes. It's kind of sad that he (Prem partially too) thinks that way. I mean sure, if he truly wants to work behind the scenes because he likes it, then I wouldn't worry, but to me it sounds like he's only going there because he assumes that is the safer option once he ages. Which I can't deny because it's a competition out there but there are roles for adults too. Definitely no longer fit the "high school/university" roles but there will be roles out there. Whatever he chooses in the future I will support but I hope he doesn't feel too bad about aging because
Boun still needs to play a Vampire role first!!!! He's so passionate about vampires, someone please write a vampire series for Boun!!!!!
I saw in an interview Boun and Prem were talking about the novel and I don't know how true their talk was because it looked like they were joking but also hinting, but anyway, Prem said that their song "Or have we met" sung by Boun might have meaning toward their (Team and Win) relationship, as in Team and Win may have already met before and met up again in University. Anyone who has read the novel, can you confirm or unconfirm this? Lol Prem was saying it sounding like a joke so I literally can't tell if he was serious or not.
Haven't you watched the movie Romeo and Juliet (1996) with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes? It's scene from…
All good here too because after reading everyone else's replies, including yours, I realized you're not getting any of it anyway, like since the very beginning with Jon Collins. Oh well, this as good as it gets lol. Good days!

This conversation is only being prolongued because you're beginning to shift the conversation. You can have your opinion, my point is your opinion is faulted. A misconception. Recall back to your reason why the scene bothers you. That is what sparked this discussion.

You can, but your reason for why you think that way is still not a legit reason. I hope you understand at least that much. In your original comment you say LW is referencing UWMA and all I can say in response is they never referenced UWMA, regardless of your opinion. That's your misconception. You're overlapping Kao's characters quite a bit and it's causing an issue with how you interpret the scenes. Being reminded of UWMA is very different from saying LW is referencing UWMA. I've been reminded of UWMA too and even made a joke about it but I don't see it as a reference, not just because it's my opinion but because it's a blatant fact. Idk about @pearlescent but for me, I'm just trying to correct that misconception since I'm focusing on your original comment and saw that you really think LW is referencing UWMA. The only reason you're upset about the scene is your misconception.
