With Speed and Love ending tonight for casual/standard VIP users tonight, I guess it will soon also mark the end of promotions 🤧. Esther, her team, and the cast in general, should all be paid an extra GENEROUS sum of shares for the amount of content THEY provided (IQIYI I'M LOOKING AT YOU 😡). From Esther's tiktoks, the cast's insta and weibo updates, to the Thai Sweet variety show (which looks as if the cast themselves took part in planning rather than the production team....), IQIYI wouldn't have done it without them 😒.
For a drama THIS big, I would've expected at least a Hi6 invitation or active offline promotional events, but all we got were 3 livestreams.... I saw someone say how for IQIYI, it seems as though they just wanted to get it over and done with by airing it at the most random time with no prior notice, airing the first 6 eps at the most random time slot (which isn't even an actual slot). God, I wish we at least saw something. They couldn't even allow the cast to adapt their own schedules to promote this drama too... I hope we see Esther and Heyu collaborate in many more projects together (and ofc, NEVER under IQIYI again....especially if it's a modern drama because they apparently hate them 😒), whether modern or costume. Out of all of Esther's pairings, I must say, Heyu has definitely been the one for me. These two just match one another's freak so much 😭!! I just hope they hold onto this friendship for a lifetime and continue to support and love one another 🫶
Straightforward and easy to follow the story. Appreciate that focus given on main characters love story of at…
It's mainly because they cut off the originally-planned episode 30...we lost around 40 mins of footage which would have easily helped tie some things together eg. the kiss scenes being shown without having any abrupt cuts between them, the wedding scenes, etc. You can really see them apply choppy editing towards the end which is such a pity. They should've kept it at around at least 30 eps, if not, then at LEAST 32-34. Their Nanjing arc was too short for my liking😔. We needed more😭😭😭😭😭
I'm not too sure, but there may have been a bit of internal conflict between the parties which caused them to change the whole thing (crew) completely or something.
My delusional ass is still here waiting for IQIYI to possibly release the full original uncut version of S&L (with the originally planned 30 episodes and uncut scenes) 😭. We lost so much!! If they can release an undubbed version of Exclusive Fairytale (with Jun's real voice), they can release S&L with the full uncut episodes 😭😭. Re-release the episodes, release an uncut blu-ray version, whatever it is, I'm willing to spend a bit more money if it means we can see everything!!
However, apparently it's because during the filming process, there was a script change when Esther and Heyu had already filmed the scenes so they made them do a reshoot - they changed to a whole new team (costume-wise I believe, otherwise they might've changed the whole crew), very last minute.
Anyways, hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas <3 Hope you all continue to love and support Esther and Heyu in their future projects, as well as keeping Speed and Love in your hearts 🫶
The yacht scene was a bit rushed to and I think many scenes were deleted. Yes, it's just an additional scenes…
It's very obvious that the original kiss scene (before they were caught by Jin Xin) was cut, when you look at their lips - they look somewhat swolen. Then of course, they cut that pink-car-boat ride too....😔
They already cut off a lot of scenes, but I’m really curious on that bath scene because I know for a fact that would’ve have left us all swooned like crazy 😭😭: http://xhslink.com/o/ntnHvM9387
Will these couple reunite in hello saturday any news guys?
I wish 😭. I really hope they do, but looking at their schedules, I don't think they'll have any more time for additional promotions because they are both set to film their next projects later this month😔
Just completed it after putting the last few episodes on hold for awhile and.....I'm rewatching it again already 😆. I will never shut up about them!! I will never shut up about IQIYI's ridiculous management and how awful they handled all the promotions. I will never shut up about the cut scenes we were unable to see. Please, cdrama produces, hear our prayers and have these two collaborate in many more projects together. THEIR CHEMISTRY IS INSANE AND THEY MATCH ONE ANOTHER'S FREAK SO MUCH😭!!
I just have to say: It's become my top cdrama. It's so well adapted. The best modern cdrama for me. How I really wish they showed more of the father-daughter dynamic. Jin Qiang was an awful dad but I wish we could've been able to see his redemption arc as per the novel. I'm weak to the father-daughter dynamics in dramas (taking When life gives you tangerines for example) and you will see me sobbing. Overall, I'm glad I was able to experience this journey from the very beginning. Thank you Heyu and Esther for beautifully delivering these roles. I respect Esther's fandom so much and have grown to be apart of it too. Thank you Speed and Love for all these wonderful memories. Damn, I already miss my zhaozhaomumu so much😭!!
I wish we could complain and make a campaign in order to urge IQIYI to re-release the whole drama WITH the full original 30 eps uncut, but i don't think they'll ever listen to us at all, only the c-netizens (maybe). If they want a last shot at earning some more profit, they should do so. If China doesn't want it, give it to the international fans. We will cherish it to bits😭!! Release it on blu-ray or whatever. I just want a proper closure WITH the full wedding ceremony because that was such a waste...😔
You know what I'll deeply miss. This community. The active and nonstop discussions before and after each episode airs. The urgent waiting for the next episodes. I find it really sad when a drama ends because you can gradually see the comments begin to slow down 🤧. Bring me back to square one😭😭!!! I miss this already!! Someone give these two more collaborations because I'm not planning to ever move on!!
There are a few BTS playlists on tiktok that people have posted from reuters earlier this year:https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSPWRXH7g/https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSHKyYeDV8XeH-LPEcZ/https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSHKyYFsSHpcT-tOtyP/But…
That's exactly how I feel. Sure, I'm sad that it's ended its run, but the fact that we didn't get the full closure that we were expecting leaves an open wound in my heart which will have me camping for a lifetime for the scenes to be released :((
Yeah I saw it too. But like the editing and cutting was a bit abrupt, going from the wall, to the bed, to a black screen. I guess this leaked uncut version is slightly smoother with the editing, idk 🤷🏻♀️
I do think that IQIYI still has the whole uncut original version of S&L, they just chose to not air it because of censorship....GIVE US THE WHOLE LOT😭. Is it too much to ask for? The wedding scene should've at least made it...why'd they have to cut the episodes short 😔. Release it on blu-ray, release it on IQIYI international. Whatever it is, just give it to us!!!
Why do I have a feeling they cut a lot of the making out to doing the deed in 26 just because of the way it’s…
I honestly find it annoying. There are a heavy amount of dramas out there who have much more 'scenes' that somehow passed censorship, but suddenly because it's Speed and Love, they just had to censor EVERYTHING?? I would understand if it's a costume drama, but for a modern drama which is based on romance, this is strange....😔 and annoying
May I ask, why did they deleted the wedding scene?
I honestly don't know why they did considering how important it was. But it was definitely something to do with the deletion of episode 30 - 40 mins of footage was cut which meant they had to squish everything in very tight. We could've gotten so much more if they had just kept the original 30😔. If you look at the original BTS videos from reuters, you can see how genuine the wedding scene was. Everyone was having the time of their lives and enjoying the moment. If we're this pissed, imagine how pissed and sad Heyu and Esther must be feeling...
This is probably one of the only novel-adapted dramas where I've seen little to no hate comments from novel readers, because don't even get me started on other dramas - novel readers would rip the drama to shreds and down-rate it so much just cause of some tweaks. I truly believe it's because we are able to sympathise with each of the characters without blaming them for their actions. I have to say, Speed and Love is definitely one of the best novel-adapted dramas I've seen so far.
First off of what I liked/have no complaints about: • They changed the original locations - instead of Thailand it was Suzhou, and instead of Australia it was Canada. • Lin Sui/Lin Luo wasn't an original character however I liked how they added him. He added an additional charm to it all and his loyalty towards JZ was something so sweet. He was willing to help with everything and I really liked how they wrote his character. • Zhao and their Mum's relationship. It was very cold in the novel and the hatred she had towards him was much more severe in the novel than here, so I'm glad they lightened it up and gave some development to their relationship. It was wholesome in the way that she accepted everything. • I'm glad they adapted Little Xin (Jin Xin) to be less of a 'little monster' than the novel. She was quite an annoying/naughty one in the novel. I really loved her character here, I just wish we got to see more of the sister relationship because it was so limited.
What I wish was adapted/WASN'T CUT 🙄: • The father-daughter dynamic between Jin Qiang and JiangMu. I wish they showed his redemption arc and how he quit being an alcoholic solely for JiangMu. The little moment in an earlier episode where she asked him to make her food at night had me in tears. After all, that was her hero and is her dad. • I wish they never deleted any of the IMPORTANT scenes....what a pity. They were some of the most awaited scenes. The wedding, the yacht kiss. The other little moments which we witnessed being filmed (from reuters) but were never released. • I wish they never deleted an episode - moreover, I wish they at least made it 32 episodes so that more things could've been covered. A single episode being deleted has become very noticeable in the editing and cutting of the later episodes. I just hate how they deleted the wedding. Imagine how XinXin and Heyu feel about it...😔
Also, frick China's censorship. I've seen much more explicit things in other dramas but cause it's Speed and Love, they just had to delete things....If China doesn't want the uncut scenes and the full uncut episodes, just give it to IQIYI international. We will happily embrace everything 😭🙏
Is it true that it's originally 30 eps and they cut it down to 29?
yeah...unfortunately. Idk why they did it. They cut out 40 mins of footage which definitely screwed up the final edits of the later episodes. They cut out quite a few important scenes as well as what was supposed to be their 'wedding night + ceremony' which is very sad

Also, there are several outfits of Esther's which we never saw in the drama:
