A day late (from where I live), but Happy 1st Anniversary to The First Frostโ๏ธ๐!! Absolutely changed my life. I've been on this platform for quite a while now, yet I'd never interacted with comments and forums this much till this drama aired. Will forever cherish the beautiful ~3 weeks of airing. I miss my beautiful Sang Yifan so much. Wishing the best for Zhang Ruonan and Bai Jingting's future roles. They played WYF and SY so beautifully, I still haven't moved on till this day๐ญ (and probably never will!!!).
With that being said, hope everyone continues to love and support The First Frost, whether you be a supporter from the very beginning, or just beginning to watch. May we all get a Sang Yan in our lives ๐๐ซถ
Just wanted to come on here again to say: I MISS ZHAOZHAOMUMU๐ญ๐ญ!! Gosh, I've been rewatching over and over, and each time continues to give me the same butterflies ๐คง. Take me back to Dec 12 2025 when it dropped so randomly! Take me back to Dec 2025 when it was airing! Bring me back shuxin+heyu interactions!! I really hope we get another (maybe moreee!!) project of these two ๐
Gosh, we all deserve a full closure with the deleted scenes + wedding ๐ฉ๐ IQIYI!!!! GIVE ME THOSE SCENES!!! PLEASE GIVE IN!!!! I CAN'T LIVE A DAY WITHOUT THINKING HOW WE WERE ROBBED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT LIKE THAT!! Release it as a package, name a price, idc. I just need it๐ญ๐!!!
The poster is so ugly and really doesnโt do justice to how good the drama actually is. It doesn't capture the…
istg, MDL in general gives dramas the worst posters. It seems that they choose to display the Mainland China's poster version, but it completely ruins the vibe. Like the IQIYI international posters for this drama and Speed and Love are so so beautiful and really captures the atmosphere of each of the dramas, but MDL always chooses the most ugliest ones....yet when we ask the admins to switch them, they refuse unfortunately....
At this point, I need someone from inside to drop the bomb and release the whole uncut version of this series WITH the deleted scenes - or a director's cut - because I'm never gonna get over how they just cut SO MUCH off like that..... ๐ญ๐ญ
The series is planned to be released in Korea soon so I'm hoping (just REALLY HOPING) that they release even the smallest bit of extra content. If China doesn't want it, give it to the international fans ๐ญ๐
It deserve more recognition. I don't get it why 8.5.. 9.0 is most likely๐ญ..It's goated.. best one
MDL's rating system is really weird. Idk how they determine a drama's rating - all the episodes are at least 9+ stars each so idk why it's so downrated. It's such a good drama too๐ฉ. I seriously want to know what data they use to determine the ratings because it's really messy
The drama's filming process was really messy and we didn't get a proper booting ceremony (as far as I remember).…
I still don't know till this day. There was apparently a yin-and-yang situation between the old crew (yin-and-yang is related to a certain type of contract - Idk how to explain it but there may be others online who can explain it to you). Due to this, the filming had to be postponed for awhile and so they had to refilm a few scenes as well. As for the booting ceremony, I still don't know why they didn't do it. From what we saw yesterday for Yun Chu Ling's booting ceremony, if Speed and Love had one, it would have absolutely given it more recognition and praise before it was released. Some others have said that the director underestimated the extent of popularity of the drama itself and even the production team too, considering how poorly it's been edited and handled. We were promised 30+ episodes, but they cut it down by one episode just a few days before airing. Promotion wise: some fans have assumed that iqiyi may have just wanted to 'get it over and done with' by releasing the drama without prior notice and letting it 'go with the flow' - I've also seen some people say how the hate train against Esther last year may have contributed to their opinions, and we can see how many people have fallen victim to the nonsense with how the previous costume drama (Journey to glory was it??) dropped Esther. Overall, Speed and Love was just a pitiful drama that sadly fell victim to the mistreatment and neglection of iqiyi - like many other modern cdramas under that production because they apparently hate modern dramas๐. They truly suppressed it's heat and potential by not offering more promotional schedules and by squeezing it in like that. Esther, Heyu. and the whole team deserve better. This is one of the main reasons why I hope to see Esther and Heyu in another project together, preferably NOT under iqiyi. I find it sus as well considering how Esther is supposed to by iqiyi's GLOBAL AMBASSADOR but they treated one of her most popular cdramas like trash....
The drama's filming process was really messy and we didn't get a proper booting ceremony (as far as I remember).…
Back then, the whole start up was kind of messy. These two were highly rumoured to be cast in S&L, but I still don't know why they didn't hold any booting ceremony for them. Esther I believe was still in promotions for LGIEF but it still doesn't justify why. It wasn't until they began filming, did fans finally find out who was who, and then iqiyi announced them as the leads. It seems that the drama itself has been pretty neglected throughout the whole process. From no booting ceremony and a sudden change of crew due to internal problems, to a sudden airing time (at a very strange time of the day that isn't usually an airing spot) with no active promotions. Not even a Hi6 invitation - all the promotional content was solely given by the cast themselves. I can't stress enough how much the cast saved the project - Esther, her team, and Heyu and his team provided almost all the pr footages. For a drama this highly anticipated from the very beginning, I would've expected much more, and even after it's huge success, I thought we'd get something out of it, but iqiyi really neglected it. We only got a single variety show that was filmed prier and 3 live streams.
The 3000 drone and fireworks show for Esther yesterday night was so beautiful. Oh my goodness. The amount of time and preparation it must have taken for all this to be organised โค๏ธโ๐ฉน. And according to C-nets, the drone show was able to be seen all across the city of Hengdian! Excited to see Shuxin's return to costume dramas after 2-3 years :))
Many of her former co-stars (Zhang Linghe, Heyu) and other actors are currently in Hengdian for filming so it has me wondering whether or not they were able to see it too ๐. Esther, you're so loved!!!!
I couldn't find any booting ceremony photos for this drama :( If anyone finds it can you kindly post it here
The drama's filming process was really messy and we didn't get a proper booting ceremony (as far as I remember). It all began on a very sudden day and they were announced as leads that day they began to film (in Nov 2024). Not only was it handled pretty badly at the beginning, there was some internal problems with the crew which led to the whole crew being replaced - hence why we see some reuters of Speed and Love where HY and YSX are dressed in different clothes which we never saw in the drama. This is because after the crew change, they had to refilm a lot of scenes.
Am I too selfish to wish and hope that they get casted to work together again at least 2 more times ๐. Like, hear me out: them in a historical drama (a dream!! even shuxin and heyu want that ๐ฉ๐!!!!) and then ANOTHER modern drama, because I need to see more of them in a modern drama with FULL CLOSURE and a FULL WEDDING that we all deserve to witness and see!!! Can't imagine how upsetting it must of been for them both and the cast to not have been able to see the whole wedding segment air, let alone us as fans crying everyday for iqiyi to release all the cut and deleted footage!!
I'm a bit lost with the timeline in the beginning of episode 21
The editing cuts of the episode were lowkey very confusing and mucked up with our brains, so I can understand where you're coming from๐ . From what I can remember from the top of my head from the novel, after Chris (JM's mum's partner) came to Thailand to inform her about her mum's condition, she returns with him to Canada to settle some procedures so that she can easily settle down - school related things, insurance, etc. During this time, she never stopped sending messages to JZ, about her mum's condition and how she had to move.
After being out of contact with him for a month, she then texted him before she left: โIโm leaving. If you can see this, please contact me as soon as possible. Missing you, Mu Mu", to which he then replied to her. Then goes the meeting, then the parting-ways, etc.
In her sixth month abroad, she then finds out (through Pan Kai) about how the case was solved. JZ then tells her that he would then leave Manshi to settle somewhere else and would re-contact her once he'd relocated - 6 months go buy and no contact made at all. The drama is slightly different than the novel in terms of communication and all, but using this info, I would assume that he was in the hospital for around a year or so but considering how he was able to walk in the garage before leaving Manshi, I would think that his recovery period was much longer - especially considering physiotherapy takes a lot of time. J
The timeline and cuts between the scenes in this episode were very very confusing so I just went with the flow, watched it, enjoyed every moment, and then just left it at that, because I'd already read the novel so I was able to slightly visualise what they were trying to convey. Don't worry, we're all lost as well๐ญ
If each episode has a rating above 9.0, how is the drama's overall rating still not increasing ๐ฉ!! You can't deny how much of an impact this drama has had on the whole community, not only pulling people (like me) out of their LOOONGGG cdrama/drama slump, but also introducing cdramas to new watchers too - all without ANY significant promotions aside from 3 livestreams, Esther + her studio + Heyu + the cast's social media posts, and fanpage's edits on tiktok.
Anyways, someone get these two in another (you can go ahead and give me a thousand) project together because I fear, I jus won't be able to move on ๐ช. Nothing seems to hit the same after this completed airing. I've gotten too attached + Heyu and Esther's chemistry is so โค๏ธโ๐ฅ!!
but I really love the scene between JZ and JM mom that scene was so good and they acted so well, he also finally…
yeah that's true. I'm glad they made the mother a bit more likeable in the drama than in the novel, though I do think her actions towards a young child were not great. He finally felt truly accepted but the amount of pressure that she put on him throughout his life ๐๐
I'm full on camping here forever ๐!! I'm on my first round of rewatching (I've been savouring the episodes on my rewatching as well ๐ฉ) and I will forever love this drama!!! However, the only thing it lacks is....the wedding scene, the uncut scenes (kiss scenes, etc.), and the offline promotions (aside from just the 3 livestreams we had to savour๐ญ). Just knowing that someone out there holds these pieces of footage leaves me unfulfilled and unable to fully sum up the drama๐ญ
Like, I love how they added more depth to the relationship between JZ and their mother (especially considering how she literally HATED him so much in the novel), but was it really worth sacrificing the whole wedding scenes for....๐
Do you want to go out on a date when you want to get back together? - WJ ๐ (favourite scene right here, and the way WK looks up as well ๐คญ)
I've already been hurt. I've been hurt too. How did I hurt you? - MK
If you let go of my hand, it really is over. I want you to be sorry for the rest of your life. Let's end it. - MK
I swear, I'm loving how the boys (WJ, WK, and JH) have MK behind them so they protect her from whatever shit talk is going on inside YS's mind. Idc about what you all say about MK, I will never defend a man who dated a girl for 9 years, was the reason for the break up, then proceeded to invite her to an ex-dating show 5 months after the break up to "reconcile" and try to get back together with her because he can't survive without her tampering him, then proceed to treat her like absolute trash on the show, and not be clear with his actions which messes up with her head. Not to mention, 9 years of not wearing any couple things, and then proceeding to wear a couple ring with a girl that he's only known for 2-ish weeks.... God. MK truly deserves so much better and I'm loving how the whole house is like backing her up. People saying she needs to move on and get over it since they're no longer together - this isn't our relationship to interfere with and we will never be them, so just let them be. A 9 year relationship that was held together till the very last moment by MK - just let her be. She's suffered so much already. Idk how it is right now in real life. If they got back together, then they got back together. Watch these two get back together and literally leave all these aside. It isn't our relationship to interfere with, but it's real messy and requires A LOT of adjusting (on his side especially) to make things work again
damn....I miss my SAL community so much ๐ญ!!! I will never move on!!! After the finale last week, I seriously just lost all motivation and hope to carry on.....god, I miss them๐ญ!!! I keep refreshing this page every day to see the number of watchers growing and now the rating has also risen up to 8.6!!! YESSS!!! KEEP IT GOING!!!
However, we were robbed...of all those scenes๐. Why can't iqiyi just listen and release all the cut materials for us!! Just by knowing how the wedding scenes were cut has me feeling incomplete - I just can't seem to fully conclude the drama because of this. We were able to witness such amazing behind the scenes of this moment, just for them to cut it all out!! And then the kiss scenes that were cut as well, the bath scene (which is such a pity considering how it was when JZ fully confessed to her), the abrupt cuts to the most IMPORTANT scenes ๐, and the unprofessional handling of this drama as a whole. They didn't even have a booting ceremony last year as well๐. Then there was some sort of yinyang crew issue (someone please enlighten me because I'm still trying to figure out what really happened cause all I know is that the switch in crews led to them re-filming some scenes). Esther and Heyu, as well as the whole cast, really put their whole hearts and souls to deliver everything and promote the drama (side eye to iqiyi ๐). I wish we'd gotten a better closure.
However, enough said, I really hope we see Esther and Heyu collaborate more in the future, especially now after witnessing their beautiful and steaming chemistry when they're with one another. May their friendship last long, and no unnecessary issues (fan wars or hate) interrupt them๐. Cdrama directors, you can see the vision!! All it takes is for you to cast them again in more projects and we'll be ready to support it all๐ญ๐!!!
With that being said, hope everyone continues to love and support The First Frost, whether you be a supporter from the very beginning, or just beginning to watch. May we all get a Sang Yan in our lives ๐๐ซถ
