I agree, the dynamics between the Zhu family members are the highlight of the drama. I could literally watch them as an American sitcom depicting their daily life for over 100 eps. I'm still watching it, but not sure if I would still be willing to continue when male lead dies.

The family drama between the emperor and the three princes (crown prince, 2nd and 3rd princes) is interesting. Great acting mix with humor lol.

The first two episodes are good. Follows history well, at least with the events surrounding Yongle emperor. It broke almost 2.0 in TV ratings, which is a huge feat.

Just to let y'all know that Karen Tsai (president of Tangren, the production company that produced this and BBJX) addressed that this drama is different from BBJX because the female lead is in control of her own fate and doesn't need to follow history, as she was able to actively go back in time and repeat the time travel if something goes wrong.

The male lead's visuals and the fact that they're cute together are what keep me from dropping this drama

Love the production the most! Stunning shots, camera works and cinematography, which aren't very emphasized in cdramas generally.

Yes, I love the theme of grayed morality in MDZS, how nobody is in the right or wrong (even WWX at some point), and it's amazing how almost each character has their own story, you don't feel like they're just a minor background character.

To be fair, I think NHS lowkey resents LXC for caring about JGY and siding with him even after JGY confessed his crimes, which added more salt in the wound. Don't forget that NMJ and LXC had a good brotherly relationship, so I don't blame NHS for feeling this way, as that was unfair for his dead brother. He holds grudges for a long time.

The rating is not higher than NIF though...it's the number of people that rated it that is higher.

Nie Huaisang is truly the MVP of the series. He outsold, outdone, outacted, outsmarted, outlived and indirectly ENDED JGY in one of the most cruel ways possible, made WWX come back to life, got justice and revenge for his brother and gave WangXian another chance. He made everything good happen, without being exposed, most importantly without cultivation skills, relying only on his intelligence alone.
