I dropped this mid-way through ep 1 as the FL and her arrogant/ignorant attitude was really irritating me... but seeing all the comments praising this as a gem makes me want to pick this up again and give it it another go :)
Rare to see a FL character in a high teen Cdrama that is not : infatuated and running after a guy &/or has bad grades and is in love with the genius classmate &/or has zero or a super weak personality. More FL like this please! This was super cute. The characters all need a S2, would be great to see them in uni :)
For me the ultimate female Cdrama character has to be Wei Ying Luo from Story of Yanxi Palace. Sharp, clever, brave...she always has her wits about her! I've yet to find a FL that lives up to her in any drama (C/K/J-drama).
Just binge-watched this because of the hype but hmmmmm... I'm not going to nitpick on all the plotholes because whatever it's a drama not a documentary.
Some characters were really one-dimensional. Prime example is Soo Hyun, who tbh I'm surprised wasn't killed earlier, what with her penchant for making rash decisions, rushing into dangerous situations without backup and making decisions because of her love (obsession?) with Ga On. I may have been more sympathetic to Soo Hyun if they had cast another actress who had even a flicker of chemistry with Ga On. When she died I felt nothing, but I was kinda gutted when K was killed, and he had barely any screentime compared to her.
Top notch acting for the roles of KYH, Elijah & even Ga On was pretty good for an idol-turned-actor.
What's up with the fugly haircuts, it's so distracting I can't hear them talk. The whole time I'm thinking," if…
It's not a haircut, it's a really bad wig. Honestly, it's a testament to how pretty the FL is that she looks human despite the traumatising wig and the frumpy styling. Her younger self was so cute, don't know why hair & makeup made her older self look so outdated :(
The scene when Xu Yan's boyfriend was reminiscing their past moments together - when they first met, etc., and…
Completely agree. Considering her childish behaviour before I was pleasantly surprised that she was mature enough to see they needed to break up. Good for her.
Well worth watching even with the glitchy automated subs. What I loved the most was the realistic portrayal of the ups and downs of true friendship. I'm sure we've all seen dramas where the dialogue is only there to obviously move the plot forward in some way, whereas here you have those natural conversations between friends. Excellent acting across the board. Tugged at my heartstrings! 9/10
Thought-provoking and interesting but I had a major issue with Nana flippantly telling Miyasaka that OCD is not an illness just a habit and he doesn't need to go to therapy (sis, wtf???) 7/10
I'm disappointed at how the FL was portrayed. I can completely understand the wait to meet in IRL and her not wanting to give out her identity as she's a celeb but ...FFS she's at least 4 or 5 years older than him right, she's a grown adult who's had at least one boyfriend before. I was hoping for her to act maturely but even in this context she's suddenly acting like a shy innocent virgin who's all clumsy and can't think straight and it's pissing me off.
Why can't we get FL who are written better :((((
Also how hilariously idiotic was the scene where she mistook a hot clean-shaven 20 year old with that old creepy man with a beard and moustache, just because they wore the same mask at the masquerade bar??
Oh good point about the romance, I agree that's why the romance element was a few awkward hugs, it would have felt really off if they had done anything more!
I think the FL is a talented actress, and am sure she will improve in the future, but in my opinion she didn't shine as much as the other amazing actors in this drama. This is because I didn't feel too much for her character, whereas I was super invested in even her mother, Mr Gu and even Wang and Chen Fang Yang. The great plotline should have made me more invested in her, but somehow for me her acting fell flat.
For example, the whole situation about her father, I couldn't emotionally connect with FL, even though I should have. But I even felt pangs of empathy for her awful father when he broke down in the staircase!
Not sure if you have seen the Cdrama Centimeter of Love? The plotline is nowhere near as good as My Treasure but there is a father/daughter scene that legit made my cry ugly tears, I connected that much with that FL due to her acting.
It's rare for me to watch a drama now without fast-forwarding and skipping scenes but I watched this all the way through. Every plot-line kept me interested. Also Mr. Gu was just the absolute best. I want my own Mr. Gu!
I wish they had cast another FL. I didn't know anything about the main actors' age gap while watching and don't really care... I just felt her acting was not on par with the rest. Just my personal opinion, please don't come after me. Seems from the comments that others really liked her acting, but it's not for me
Episode 7 was finally Mi Joo's time to shine this season! Her horse acting made me cry with laughter like wtf. Jae Suk's radio interference in the car was hilarious too.
Congya was the star of this season, in my opinion. It's such a shame that they didn't have a 5th guy on the show, like wtf. She deserved better and handled everything with maturity and grace. Team Congya!
Take it from someone who's tried starting so many lakorns then ended up dropping 99.99% of them, this one is a winner. Trust me, just watch it. The plotline is legit gripping, I was genuinely intrigued to find out what happened next, no fastforwarding here!
If anyone can recommend lakorns with a similar vibe (strong plotline, great chemistry between the leads, minimal annoying fighting) I would highly appreciate it.

if you want your cheeks to hurt from smiling and going "Awww that's cute!"
if you want something feel-good and fluffy
Don't Watch This:
if you like your romance on the spicy side (no spice here!)
