After ep 18, I can see them breaking up. Setting an arbitrary deadline of 7 days to clear everything up when so much is going on is just asking for trouble. I completely understand Xiao Ran not wanting to be in Hu Pu any more when it's obvious that Fei'er will never take her claws out of Shang Qi willingly. I also understand Shang Qi feeling obligated to stay there and sort out the family business, especially after he's finally started mending his relationship with his father.
I don't think Shang Qi will be able to leave in 7 days or 7 weeks and I'm not certain Xiao Ran will talk to him or even listen to an explanation unless it is forced on her. I can see her trying to repeat the past and forget everything about him but I doubt that will work this time.
As for Fei'er, I really pity her. It's like she took every wrong turn available in her desperate need to escape her horrific family and now she's left with nothing but the memory of her past life with Shang Qi and she's trying to recreate that. I want to believe she could be a better person but she actually has to try first.
I feel really bad for all three of them because none of them asked for this. Fei'er did everything that disgusting man wanted just so she could escape her miserable past and he still threw her to the wolves just to win against Shang Qi and his family. Shang Qi is just trying to do his part to support his family business. And Xiao Ran just wants to be happy with the man of her dreams. The real demon here is Zhao. He's just an a-hole for no apparent reason.
I was prepared to be mad at Shang Qi when Fei'er showed up again but so far he's been good at drawing boundaries and keeping them, even between Fei'er and Xiao Ran. I think the real problem they will have is miscommunication but I'm hoping Xiao Ran takes her mother's wonderful advice to always talk things out before they escalate and become unmanageable.
It's obvious Fei'er will need to step up her game if she wants to break them up because Shang Qi won't let petty disagreements be the reason his relationship with Xiao Ran ends. I suspect she'll try to manipulate him into a compromising situation that he can't quickly explain because it will involve his family business as well.
Fei'er is such a miserable person but I find it hard to sympathise when she built this cage for herself and now she's upset that anyone else is happy. She made all the wrong choices in life for all the wrong reasons, and now she's suffocating but rather than find a way to break free, she's trying to pull other people into her misery. Even if Shang Qi was single, she knows he would not have any feelings for her since they both know that those feelings died a long time ago, but she's particularly angry that Xiao Ran is with him and they're actually happy. Just a bitter, miserable human being.
I am enjoying this show a lot, it has potential and I always look forward to seeing it every week. The only complaint…
I think it's been mentioned before that she was not meant to be queen because she was a commoner with no connections. I think that's one of the reasons the dowager hates her and her children. I don't really remember if they said how she became queen though.
I don't really like the king. Out of all of the characters, the king is the most confusing. He acts all righteous,…
It's possible that he has been oblivious to the schemes of his mother and her allies to some extent. He may think she lobbied to get him appointed but never imagined that she actually murdered the crown prince before him. He is a good king to the people but ultimately not very wily or smart about internal politics in the palace.
I knew from the start that the Crown Prince was only going to be here for a short time but my goodness, it was heartbreaking to watch him deteriorate while the Queen was locked away, helpless. I couldn't help crying at the end of the episode and I really need everyone responsible to be punished severely.
Okay, first of all.... the love for Kang Chae-Ri on this comment section is because she's an interesting character-…
I wouldn't be shocked if she does that at the wedding episode just to increase ratings! Cos if they start avoiding each other things will be boring and regular again so she'll need to pull something off to get renewed for another season.
If you say something in front of cameras, you know what is going to happen.CR is not creating plot lines, she…
I definitely agree that Chae Ri did not create the assualt plot line, but she's still an a-hole. Also filming the cast when they had an expectation of privacy is problematic any way you slice it. If she had to hide to get the footage then she knew it was wrong.
I also haven't seen Yeo Reum playing with people's emotions and acting innocent but maybe I missed something.
Okay, first of all.... the love for Kang Chae-Ri on this comment section is because she's an interesting character-…
Her first solution was to bargain with Chae Ri in the terms the latter would accept and if Jae Hoon had simply refused, then she would probably have done what her junior did and deleted the footage herself. My point is he could have said no at any point. The fact that he's in love with her doesn't mean he has no autonomy. He presented himself as an option for her but in this circumstance it was simply too far and that's what he should've said.
As for her being a wall, when given the option of having a victim of SA be publicly humiliated and maybe have her life ruined for ratings, and making an uncomfortable request of her best friend, she tried to choose the lesser of 2 evils. Maybe given more time she could've come up with another solution, but just like having Jae Hoon sub on the show, she was handed a live grenade with no time to process and Chae Ri breathing down her neck and threatening her with someone else's wellbeing, again.
I don't think anyone is arguing that the request wasn't uncomfortable or even a dick move, but the crucifixion of Yeo Reum is the thing I don't agree with.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Chae Ri is secretly filming Yeo Reum and Jae Hoon even now to be honest. This type of behaviour is why she had poop thrown in her face.
I think Kang Chae Ri re-edited that first episode on purpose to help FL get her shit together, not just raise…
I'm not convinced she did it to help anyone but herself tbh. I still don't think she's a terrible human being but there's definitely something broken in her and I'd like to know what it is.
Okay, first of all.... the love for Kang Chae-Ri on this comment section is because she's an interesting character-…
Yeo Reum was using what Chae Ri said to her to convince Jae Hoon which showed that she herself didn't believe in the argument but was desperate. I'm surprised this wasn't clear enough to more people. If Jae Hoon wasn't so upset because of his feelings for her, he would've realized that she would not ask him to do this if she had any other choice and he would've recognized that that's not something she would say since he knows her so well.
I'm also surprised more people aren't wondering why he's being so participative in the show since he was added at the last minute. He could've lost the wrestling thing and let someone else go on a date but he chose to go full steam ahead with a woman he knows has feelings for him. When she told him to use her, it echoed what he said to Yeo Reum and now both he and 2FL are going back on their words because they didn't really mean "use me", but rather "choose me".
I'm frankly pretty pissed by a lot of the recent comments on here. Everybody is pointing fingers at Yeo Reum calling…
Honestly, reading the comments before watching the episode, I thought Yeo Reum did something atrocious that could not be forgiven. She asked him to be on the show and he said yes with his own agenda too. He may have been compelled because it was Yeo Reum asking, but he also did it because he wanted to be close to her and confess his feelings (less than a week after her dream wedding and life fell apart, I might add). She asked him to kiss another woman and he could've said no, but instead kissed her at her workplace where cameras were rolling. It was a mess and it's both of their mess.
I also don't get the view that he's doing everything in their friendship when they clearly had a balanced friendship before this. They helped each other out and looked out for each other. Him being in love with her isn't her fault or business and if she finds herself falling for him now, then it has to be at her own pace. A lot of comments seem to be skipping over the part where she brought him back to life and they became somewhat fixed in each other's routines because of Yeo Reum. I really like Yeo Reum and I also want to see her stand up to Chae Ri more eventually.
Rather than a slow burn romance, this is turning out to be a slow character reveal. We're getting little bits about Shang Qi and his history every few episodes and it's surprisingly, not a bad thing. It makes me more curious about him and also glad that they're not just ignoring his character altogether.
From ep 10 it seems he may not actually have liked Fei'er but was entangled with her because she knew how to manipulate him into taking care of her. We don't know exactly what happened to her on the day of the big misunderstanding, but all the flashbacks seem to show that Shang Qi cared a lot about Xiao Ran but always took care of Fei'er because she needed it so maybe that's why everyone thought they were an item. Even in ep 10 it shows that he left Fei'er when he saw her using Xiao Ran's story as her own just to get with the rich guy. Of course everything's not clear yet but I am curious about it.
I knew when the leads got together so early that there would me a lot of angst in their future so I'm anticipating the pain.
If anything I am annoyed at the ML. He asked if she wanted a friend or romantic interest and she said friend.…
Agreed. He can be upset about the request without kissing Yeo Reum. I completely understood why she asked and I also understood why he was upset. None of that has anything to do with kissing Yeo Reum so he was wrong for that.
If anything I am annoyed at the ML. He asked if she wanted a friend or romantic interest and she said friend.…
I mean, she asked and he could always say no. He could say he's uncomfortable and cannot do it and she'll understand and get over it eventually because it's not his job to run interference and she knows that. She asked because she couldn't think of any other way to divert attention away from the SA victim but he doesn't have to do anything and he asked her to use him for whatever she needs.
I'm enjoying the reality show angle cos it shows how venomous they are behind the scenes and just how fake these so-called "reality" shows are. I'm at ep 7 and I still like Yeo Reum. She's trying to protect someone and her methods are not the best and will probably end up causing even more problems later, but hey, that's the beauty of these dramas.
Overall, I'm really enjoying the show and even the characters I can't stand are ultimately amusing. 2FL is kind of funny but also sad cos she keeps doing way too much. Chae Ri is giving the vibe of that mean editor from Today's Webtoon cos I don't believe she's a terrible human being, but clearly something must've happened to break something in her and make her like this now. We got a glimpse with her mother before but nothing more yet. I suspect more will be revealed eventually to try and explain her behaviour and lack of empathy. I look forward to that.
Jae Yoon really needs to re-evaluate all his friendships cos if it's not a thief it's a leech and they seem to…
I always love Ho Joon's interactions with his father but the scene where he was yelling at his father for not complimenting Jae Yoon was so funny and endearing.
Jae Yoon really needs to re-evaluate all his friendships cos if it's not a thief it's a leech and they seem to feel entitled to their awful behaviour. I'm really enjoying this show and the progression of Ho Joon and Jae Yoon's relationship. Sometimes I think they have skipped something because of the editing but they always make sure to address it in the next scenes.
I wasn't sure what to expect going in but I am so happy I'm watching this and I'm a little sad it will be over next week. I would totally watch 8 more episodes of this minus all the terrible friends.
I feel like apart from maybe 3 princes, the boys all kind of get along especially the younger ones. It was so heartwarming to see the queen and the grand princes dine together and you could tell that she tries hard not to play favorites with her kids and they all know she cares about them. I knew the happiness couldn't last long but it was still so devastating to see the Crown Prince in such a terrible state by the end. I think whoever did that to him also made sure that it was a public thing this time so the queen couldn't work her way around it.
when he said he wanted to live even more now that he recovered i just knew.... someone def poisoned him i don't…
I have the same suspicion. They keep saying his condition can be managed easily with the right treatment so it was already suspicious that he was getting worse despite being treated. Now that he'd gotten the proper medicine he should not have taken a turn like this. Definitely poison imo.
