Story now dominated by mother's mental illness

Okay. I get it. This series has become - intended or not - all about how a family deals with a mother who is mentally ill. And as long as I keep my perspective oriented on that, I have to say it is pretty brilliantly executed. The acting performances are just so good. And the cinematography is beautiful. But ... this is painful and exasperating to watch. It's simply not pleasant to watch someone spiral the way Liu Wanyu has spiraled and the impact that has on her family. Yes, that's a selfish viewer perspective. I can only take so much of watching this sort of stress before it's just, well, too stressful.

HILARIOUS BUT SCARY TOO!

omg bongsoon’s now min hyeok’s bodyguard AND BRO IDC IF SHE HAS SUPERSTRENGTH HE WAS MAKING HER CARRY SO MANY BAGS WHILST HE WAS SHOPPING. Now guess what? After the last murder attack on the woman from bongsoon’s neighbourhood, another attempted kidnapping occurred on a high school teacher but she was saved and sent to the hospital ONLY TO BE KIDNAPPED AGAIN UNDER THE POLICE’S NOSE, WHILST BONGSOON WAS COVERING FOR GUKDU WHO WENT TOILET . NOW BONGSOON HAS PROTECTION FROM POLICE, BUT THE MURDERER KNEW ABOUT IT SO HE STABBED THE POLICE OFFICER OFFERING WITNESS PROTECTION TO BONGSOON AND NOW BONGSOON WAS GETTING PROTECTION FROM GUKDU. AND YOU KNOW AFTER THE MURDERER KIDNAPPED THE HIGHSCHOOL TEACHER (VICTIM #2), HE HAD THIS CREEPY FACE MASK ON, AND WAS CALLING HER HIS “FIRST BRIDE” AND MADE HER WEAR A WEDDING DRESS LIKE WTF THAT SL CREEPY. And during work, bongsoon took min hyeok to her family’s bakery, since he wanted pastries, but HE DIDNT KNOW THAT IT WAS BONGSOON’S FAMILY BAKERY ONLY UNTIL LATER ON WHEN HE TAKES HER TO HIS HOUSE SUNCE HW AS WORRIED FOR HER SAFETY. HE EVEN SUGGESTED. THAT “he protects her, whilst she protects him”. AND YK DURING ALL THIS TIME, BONGSOON THINKS HE’S GAY AND SHE EVEN TOLD HER MUM THAT WHEN SHE ASKED MIN HYEOK SINCE BONGSOON’S MUM SAW MIN HYEOK WHEN HE VISITED THE BAKERY. Now gukdu came to min hyeok’s house to collect bongsoon to protect her, but then they started arguing no whether she should stay at min hyeok’s house or go with gukdu, AND THEY WERE PRACTICALLY DOING TUG OF WAR WITH BONGSOON AS THE ROPE. and gukdu even experiencing problems with his girlfriend since he’s been missing out of their special stuff, like anniversaries, due to his work, so now his girl probably starting to become angry, SO IF BOGNSOON FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS SHE MIGHT GET EXCITED LOWKEY.

Mom dominates the story again

Chenghuan's mother, Liu Wanyu, gets a diagnosis that _might_ be cancer (further tests needed) and instead of talking with her family and getting the further tests done ... she spirals into a massive self-pity bout of depression and pulls back selfishly from the rest of the family and runs away. The whole thing drags out and is annoying and frustrating to watch .... but I gotta admit, it's kinda what real life is like when you live with someone who has a mental disorder. And it's been obvious for some time that Wanyu definitely has mental disorder issues. On one hand, the acting performances are great. On the other hand, it's very depressing and frustrating to watch.

the eps r short & maybe cause of that, this is really addictive & u want to binge watch it - pity it's still airing (cause after this i am stuck until the next update). but fun & funny all the same. didn't expect the twist where Ga U Su was more annoyed he wasn't the lead in Eui Ju's BL - in spite of his aversion to the genre. even though the invasion or privacy is mad in this drama, even before he knew that Eui Ju was his student,. he felt confidante in just going up to her & demanding she allow him access to her phone & now her laptop. it's mad. 6 more eps to go - wonder where the writer is gonna take us... can't wait to find out

Eui Ju is such a quirky character, one minute…

Eui Ju is such a quirky character, one minute she is down the next she's back up marching to her own beat. i love that about her. me in her place i would be plotting how to get back at Ga U Su, regardless of what he thinks is right, he really is being mean to her & belittling her cause she can't do as he requests, moronic petty behavior unfitting of an adult let alone a teacher IMO. putting her in that class was a b.s. move - if she only got 4 points, that means she needs to start from scratch, here he is pushing her into deep waters & wanting her to swim all on her own, when she doesn't get the basics & when she can't.... he is then belittling her?!? that's freakin twisted & mean - sorry but he aint fit to be a homeroom teacher.

Rui gets info that helps provide evidence against Wei. He is still Mr Teflon so his wife was brought in. She saw the baby pictures and heard his family speech to ZhenZhen. When she tricked him about bug and getting paid he used a similar argument with her about going to Australia and being one big happy family. 😝 This man has no shame. Auntie was finally convinced when she saw and heard his actions with her own eyes and ears. But I have to give her blame for indulging him and covering for him. She is far from guiltless about what happened to Purong. Her laissez faire approach with his handling of Purong has no excuse. It is a wonder Ji and MiYu could rescue it. There was entirely too much time giving ZhenZhen’s backstory to gain sympathy for her bad choices. This wasn’t wanted or needed for story. We see the last two get hauled off in handcuffs but they didn’t say what happened to the baby which is the only part of ZhenZhen’s story I was curious about. MiYu gets in at EHL and is heading off to Switzerland to study abroad. Mr Tan is heading back to HongKong. Diva Duan will be vacationing in the Maldives and Rui is heading for places unknown. It is not specifically clear that chef is staying but I am pretty sure she and Ji will be the ones left in the new and improved Purong. Ji is waiting a year and half and if she doesn’t come back, he will fly to her. So why didn’t we get an epilogue with that instead of a young ZhenZhen deserted by her mother and standing in the rain? Even Nie more healthy and starting new would have had more relevance than her history. It was nice seeing MiYu’s mom running the kitchen and bossing the family around. MiYu did a good thing there. I really wasn’t needing the romance in the first place. But if we had to deal with the push and pull of that, why have EVERYBODY amicably go their own way with the if the fates allow speeches given at the end. We could have had more hotel adventures a visit to Switzerland included or less episodes of romance that may never be. I love her character and that she wants to see how far she can go, but as I sit here thinking about the episode I just watched I have to ask Why? They all agreed their story stopped there but it was open ended for everybody, which I would have been perfectly happy with had they not pushed romance and then left it for fate if their paths ever crossed again. Would I recommend? With a warning label😂 In spite of how they ended things I still love her character and cheer for her to go far and fly high.
