Stresses of NICU and death of child patients

This episode was about preemies and the stresses of NICU staff. Also the death of Dr Shinmiya’s unconscious patient. He is in the middle of a C-section when he gets the notification about his patient. He continues to finish the emergency surgery because his first priority is the welfare of the new mother he is working on. He rushes to her room but arrives too late to say goodbye. The father eventually shows up, does a single bow and leaves. 6 years ago he lost his wife when this child was delivered. It was Dr Shinomiya that faithfully visited her every day for all that time. The child never once woke up or heard her father say her name, or anything at all to her. This broke Shinomiya who wanted to cure her and couldn’t and mourned that her father could not bear to deal with her. This was heartbreaking. One in NICU gave up her place to make room for emergency baby. This was so hard for the parents. The baby was so tiny with so many things that could happen. Here the ‘iron lady’ pulls a Shinomiya. She is not rude, but she overwhelms the parents with too many things. The father is too scared to even name the little boy and the mother feels it’s her fault. The mom does visit and names her son and the dr is determined to singlehandedly guard over him. She has left so many dinners and even in the middle of a proposal runs out for an emergency. Little Yosuke did not make it, but was held by his parents and shown love on his way to heaven. This broke the Iron Lady and she has a break down and leaves hospital. She feels personally responsible for not being able to heal him and can only keep apologizing. It is not clear if she will have the heart to return to work after this patient. She is an excellent Dr so I hope she makes it to the other side with her grief and guilt.

Jiyoung's famous taekwondo scene

The first episode was really good and left me an impression, especially that taekwondo scene haha, really didn’t expect something that funny. I was literally rolling with laughter.

Birth defects

This episode is very bittersweet. Have Kleenex ready. It focuses on two mothers and the young staff Dr in NICU. One mother is very excited about her first pregnancy. She is 20 weeks along and learns her baby had anencephaly. This is a condition where the baby’s body continues to grow normally, but the brain and skull do not and the baby cannot live long outside the womb if reaches full term. This was a very sad experience for the couple as her first child, a son, was stillborn. She named him and mourned him. She is now expecting her second child and is not experiencing the same joy. In fact, she considered aborting and not having any more children at all. She makes it through and has a second child. She is determined to remember her first and to do all she can for her new one. The second mother is expecting a child with a cleft palate. It was discovered late in pregnancy and the mother is very upset. First, Dr Shinomiya was a shit in how callously he told her. She was so upset that she spent time on internet looking at pics and completely forgot the information she was told. Her husband talks her into returning to hospital and again, Shinomiya is curt about news. Dr Konotori takes over and has a calmer conversation and shows them reading material and provides a list of doctors that deals with cleft palates so they can find out what they will need to do after birth. She swapped to Dr Konotori and calms herself down to have that hard conversation with the grandparents. Her GMA was much more receptive, but her parents eventually resigned themselves and tried to be more positive. Dr Konotori talks to a plastic surgeon and the. Tells the couple Dr Shinomiya referred him. What is truly special this episode. The mother comes back and gives Dr Shino,Kay a 3 part review. It ends with he should be nicer to his patients. What is shocking is he laughs out loud at this. He seems to be softening up a bit. Giving birth is hard with no surprises added. To learn that your baby will be less than perfect to the world at large is a hard thing. To first get over your own biases and self pity to take on what the child needs and be a positive support, is a very special role. The young doc in NICU was ready to give up. He was all thumbs with some of the equipment and he just didn’t feel up to the task. His colleague gave him a letter from a former patient that had a child with cleft palate. The mother spoke of her fears and the difficulties that came with the condition. But she showed before and after pics to say that the scar was her favorite trait of her baby now. This offered hope and encourage both the family expecting, and the young doctor wavering on his career choice. He was reminded that in NICU, it was the staff there most attuned to the silent cries of the babies. He could hear them and needed to be more confident to treat them. The end of the episode shows Dr Shinomiya’s unconscious patient taking a turn for the worse while he is in surgery.

Maternity clinics vs hospitals

This episode gives us some of Komatsu’s history. She and Dr Shinomiya have words about midwives vs monitors. He has cause for his biased view on things, but sometimes I wish he would be less cold and harsh in his mini diatribes. This episode focuses on moms to be that want more natural and family oriented setting during childbirth. This is more possible with midwives. This is a beautiful idea unless there is a complication for mother or child and then it can go very badly. Komatsu’s mom ran a maternity clinic and this is where she decided to become a midwife like her mother. She is a team player at the hospital, but she is seen often behind the scenes working with the new parents or mom during contractions to help put them at ease and give practical care knowledge. This is a respected profession, but there is a huge caveat with the job, no mistakes can be made. This is far more judgmental than docs with the machines. But, they understand the truth of this. For this reason Komatsu opted to work at a hospital. She was confidant in her abilities, but acknowledged things could go wrong. She thought this indicative of her being too cowardly to work in a maternity clinic. When a patient determined to be like her mom, was determined to continue and leave hospital with the new knowledge she had, her midwife shared her children born by c-sections both of them. She realized as Dr Konotori’s gentle words washed over her, that all births were correct births; whether natural or willingly cut open to bring them to world. What mattered was safely and best thriving method. All cases are different, even with same mother. Birth circumstances are unique every time and need to be treated that way. Komatsu laughed when she realized her colleague was successful because cowardly. She calle hospital for help at slightest inclination for problem. This showed Komatsu that she didn’t have to be like her mom to be a good midwife. That her fear kept her alert to whatever or whoever was needed to insure a safe birth. This even had Dr Shinomiya asking her opinion on wait or head to surgery. Little by little he is getting out of his grumpy shell. But his young patient showing signs of pneumonia so I hope he doesn’t retreat and get worse. Love Sakura getting teased at the end and Komatsu stealing his noodled.😂😁

sadly, it gets pretty boring

this whole drama made me love both main actors, especially kim hye yoon but, the story isn´t as great as i thought it would be.it got me hooked during the first few episodes but got very boring by the middle of it. i felt like it was just the same thing over and over again... which is not something people usually lik in dramas, including myself. they did great work with the last 2 episodes though, finally felt at least a bit interesting and i was desperate to know how it ends. overall, this drama would have been better with a bit more plot twist and story, that´s why i give it such a low rating.would recommend maybe to binge watch or to just play it in the background while doing other stuff. although people may like it, give it a try and let´s see!

Plotholes and odd reasonings.

How did Phat end up in that café?! That's a reaaaally weird coincidence, and also why go there with flowers? Also them immediately breaking up and then not talking is a bit...childish? ****The parents' fight was about their expectations of happiness for their children. Father wanted a happy childhood for them, mother wanted a good future for them (also seen when she criticised Thian in an earlier episode). Using that fight as a reason for their breakup is...kinda bad. They should have had these discussions years earlier. Two children were already University age? That's way too late to decide what is important when raising children. **** Otherwise still beautifully shot. Audio has some issues though. Does the sound person still have their hearing?!

Every lonely journey ends in a fated encounter

The wedding gives them another close moment but the wisp and vengeful father can’t wait long. Tingyan has left as many reminders as possible. Her course is clear and she plans to follow through. I was puzzled at his refusal to take the seal but then understood after. The wisp had to believe he’d won before the trap could be set. Even at the end, knowing who actually killed his daughter and that he’d been duped, the vengeful father picked up his sword to play it out. He was so joyful thinking he had killed Jiao. The doc had me wondering if she was double agent and crossing him at the end. She played her part well. These two…..they lay it all on the line for the one they love and this time it was her turn. We don’t know how much time Jiao had after she left. It skips right to present day. She has a slight concussion and leaves hospital. Her boss sends her to location for a last chance meeting. She arrives to an empty room and lamenting on stairs. It just so happens boss Wei stayed behind and knows she’s the missing pitch he’s not heard yet. However, there is a bigger surprise than a new sales pitch waiting for them both. ❤️🥰 Every lonely journey ends with a fated encounter 🥰❤️ The last line of drama. 😁 It ends with a montage of their best moments. The cast, production and music were all excellent. For me, I would have preferred much less of Shi and Celestial realm and a more even spread of time between the three realms. That would have made this drama perfection for me. That being said, this was a well told story with a satisfying end. It is well worth the watch and highly recommended. I hope this life they get to enjoy thoroughly in happiness.😁

Four Stars

I am low-key really confused on what is happening like have the met each other I feel like they have met each other before, but I also feel like they have it. It feels a little slow, paced and boring, but I’ll tough it out because it’s not that long. Okay bye!

Memories regained

Both are dreaming dreams of their past. This time we are getting glimpses of Tingyan before and just after accident. At the coming of age ceremony Sima Jiao regains his memories. The wretch of a wisp killed the concubine and frame Tingyan for it. She counters by waiting in prison by choice. Here the sacrifice of children and the famine with drought has built a big reserve of resentment flooding into Tingyan’s demon core. She has figure out the scheme in regards to her…she sacrifices herself literally as Sima Jiao did in demon realm to negate the demon core…or she risks demon core taking over and becoming Sima Jiao’s assassin. It’s worthy of Shi evil in the complexities of playing the long game. For now, there is a very small respite window where she vents her anger and frustration at his choice, and how he calmly said his gift was hers to use as she chose. His character is unique in that he doesn’t choose to safeguard himself or his followers under certain circumstances. He lets them be at risk along with himself and lets fate run its course with no regrets. His character will stay memorable with me because of that. He candidly takes life as it is and betters what he can with no apologies. Under the snow they have a brief quiet embrace where they know who they are and are not worried about where they are headed. They are taking a moment to just be.❤️

OMG that preview... sh*t's really gonna…

OMG that preview... sh*t's really gonna hit the fan. but i have to say i felt bad for Jun Xi, u want anyone to come out in their own time - here he is getting dragged out, by his brother & ironically by Han Tuo. his brother wasn't in his life idk how long & suddenly pops-up like a bad penny, now is all up in his little brother's business - don't appreciate this. anyone in Jun Xi's place would tell him to butt-the-f*ck out of him personal business. when & if he is ready to tell him anything he will. he got enough on his plate with his lack of a job, place to stay & a kid to look after. why he bothering with his little brother's business?!? **********with Han Tuo, the pressure isn't invasive, but it still exist. Han Tuo low-key keeps pushing Jun Xi into situations he isn't ready for, or knows how to handle & i get his offered the break-up, was his way of helping. but now that Jun Xi is in a relationship with him, u can't just decided all on ur own to end sh*t - like communicate or wait for him to be ready to come out. at least, this time don't force on him.... let him take his time to do what he feels is right.... idk - ***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************also i know in the previous ep i wrote that i missed You Mei & was happy to see her, until she basically shamed Jun Xi for how he lied to his parents. sorry but WTF - idk what her own situation was, but u have NO right to force ur thought's on anyone else. Jun Xi can take however long he needs to come out. stay out of their relationship & don't give out unsolicited advise! *********************************************************************************************************************************************also am glad Xiao Yang didn't kiss You Mei, sorry but whatever she was going though she needed to deal with that & not get into something, just for the change of mood she was in. that not a good basis for any relationship. so glad that Xiao Yang was smarter then to do something that could backfire.

Battle of wits

So far, Tingyan has managed to keep ahead of old demon’s scheming. Yan’s leader raised fuss about a canal and thinks prisoner is dead. Old demon wisp intends to cause a natural disaster to stir up resentment in the general populace to feed demon core in Tingyan. Fortunately, her people were there to circumvent the natural disaster plot. This has worked well for the emperor and put Tingyan in a good light as well. There is some ritual that both sides want in charge of. I am hoping this is not like Shi’s doings of blood sacrifice rituals. There is something significant about it but still no clue if good or bad. Does this ceremony help the people or help open demon army door? Maybe it depends on which side uses it. Now that wretched wisp wants the souls of 100 children for their scheme. I am glad the mortal is hesitant to do it, but the demon lord has caused trouble for Tingyan. Many birds are dead disturbing the people and she woke up with blood on her hands. She also has not told her people or Jiao about the time lapses and the demon takeovers of her body. This is working against her. Now to see what the old wisp made her do.

Sima Jiao the Emperor

Tingyan is not happy he has a harem😝 With the other side also wanting him dead, is the escaped magistrate a double agent? There are still questions about him. The wisp of old demon lord still wants to cause trouble. She is now aligning herself with the leader of Yan. The doc is a double agent. I am not sure if she is disciple of Yan leader or his lover. It is fun watching Tingyan and Jiao needle each other. 😂 This time she is saving him. But, by doing so in assassin raid, she has also revealed herself to old demon wisp. Jiao has his mother this time. Is she his idea or somebody else’s? Tingyan didn’t think enough soul shards left for another life. Both are trying to figure out nemesis plot and each other. Even his consorts mean him harm so she will have a tough time staying his bodyguard with the restrictions placed on her. Fortunately that also holds true for demon wisp. He doesn’t trust her, but can’t deny she shields him. I will be glad when they get to present day mortal time.

That kiss in episode 5

That kiss in episode 5… it didn’t just feel romantic, it felt like the kind of moment you carry with you long after the screen goes dark. Why it hits so hard 💔The slow burn made every second ache, like time itself was holding its breath. The music wasn’t just background, it felt like it was written for their hearts alone. The tears weren’t just theirs, they became ours too.The lighting wrapped it all in this fragile glow, as if the world wanted to protect them. What it says about themJimmy and Sea aren’t just acting, they’re showing us what it means when love is tender, patient, and raw. They’ve become the purest green flag pairing I’ve seen this year, the kind of duo that reminds you how rare true connection really is.
