A compelling, dramatic episode

This is a very interesting episode with multiple plots moving forward and some great acting performances. In particular, in wrapping up the complex-by-itself Weeping Child case, this episode features a wonderful dueling ladies conversation between Consort Wei (played by Ma Rui) and Lady Wang (played by Hu Ji Xin). The tension and verbal sparring between these two is both subtle and intense and I really found Hu Ji Xin's performance, brief as it is, to be magnetic. Hope she gets a main actress role at some point. And then in the final climactic reveal conversation where it becomes clear just who's child was actually inside Lady Wang when she was murdered, the verbal sparring between Ma Rui (again) and Bai Lu is so powerful. Bai Lu is always great at micro-expressions so her cold cruel prosecutor mode delivery is so good. The way she dominates and breaks down the Consort Wei - a woman who is probably used to _always_ being in command of situations is fantastic.

Yu ri je trouve qu’on lui a pardonner un peu trop vite ses mises de connasses au profit de « mais pas tant » Alors je l’aime bien (vraiment)Mais y’a des moves j’ai rarement vu des trucs aussi méchant, et elle voulait pas s’excuser genre le sabotage était trop grandContente que ce soit pote mais un peu trop beauLa daronne par contre connasse tiers. Je sais que dans le présent je l’aime bien, elle est mims, elle a évolué Mais quel petasse dans le passé j’suis chockbar Y’a des trucs que je peux pas tolérerDemander à ta fille de supporter tes états d’humeur et ton travail pcq tu sais pas faire ton deuil ou parler, lui rejeter la faute dessus mais elle a 0 en master de parentGenre je vais bien vouloir accepter ses changement mais je tolère tout juste ses moves d’avant, va falloir en faire dés changements et sessions excusesCe qui m’énerve c’est que dans le présent ils font un peu genre Na Hee Do abuse non. Elle n’abuse pasPar contre je commence a voir un pattern qui m’horrifie avec Baek Ye Jin qui commence à devenir comme la daronne, prioriser son métier, les deux ensembles quand elle est seule… ça me rend trop triste j’ai trop peur (je me suis fait spoil)

Peiyi showing just how cold cruel and chill she can be

This episode features an interrogation by Peiyi of senior judicial chief Wu Yue Kun. This is a wonderfully camped-up portrayal by Bai Lu of the Pei Yi character at her ice-cold prosecutor best. She is in command the moment she enters the bed chamber, easily manipulating first the judge's wife and then the judge himself - who was no easy mark. Otherwise, this episode is kinda sad as it reveals how the Seven Palace Maids all sacrificed themselves to finally bring justice to some really awful men. Also, it is now even more clear that Xiao Hua'jin is hiding information from Pei Yi connected to the slaughter of her family 15 years ago.
