Leaving Shenshou

The time had come for mentor/nemesis and disciple to settle the score. The double qi in that worn out body had little time left and both greedy buggers wanted Han Li. Literally. When the doc first got the knives out Han Li cringed and waited, not expecting the doc to stab himself. He was expecting the six ghost curse to take care of Han Li in the plane of his consciousness. However, level 6 Han Li kicked his butt😝 when doc Mo realized it was over, he actually gave tips on what he needed to do to get rid of immortal entity looking for new host. He told him what had happened to his friend and Han Li gave a shout of grief for him. He loaded up supplies and after taking the silver antidote started to head out to get the sunwarm jade he needed for a cure. He heard 81 drumbeats and headed to war between wild wolves gang and seven mysteries sect instead. After battle challenge, to avoid mutual destruction, it was decided a battle to the death would determine winner. What the sect didn’t anticipate was a cultivator. What Han Li noted was he was lower level. Han Li made short work of him and found a talisman as his reward. The sect leader was grateful, but suspicious of one he could not control. Han Li put him at ease and asked for Li Feiyu to be made a disciple and leader. Additionally, his friend would be able to marry the girl of his choice with no prejudice to his rank and income. And finally the uncle that assisted him would be taken care of. He then handed the sect leader an essence pill and left. He finished packing a second time, read the letter from Mo and headed to Mo’s house for jade cure. This time he is really leaving Shenshou. He left huge bags of meds for his friend and hope they will meet again. He gives the golem a new name because it is not his friend. His friend is gone, but together their journey really begins.

"wow"ed me for sure

I don't know about the world, but they've definitely got me. The first episode just about killed me. I couldn't stop laughing. The whole premise of the introduction setup was so funny. Say what you want about 陈赫 but him walking in with a pink bunny around his waist was so adorable + his love for his daughter is so cute too and the new blue nails ！His the contrast to CXX waiting nervous nervously inside while he swirled the suitcase around outside make me giggle. 那一句“我们是在约会吗？“然后CXX那声尖叫 我真的绷不住了。还有他们两个跳舞。。。王玉雯好可爱蹦蹦跳跳来了太有青春感了而且也很能接受抽象。我好喜欢她！真可惜没有范丞丞 好想看范丞丞跟陈赫（还有邓超 求他去一趟五哈吧）

Mentor turned nemesis

Han Li has reached tier three and even stingy doctor Mo recognizes quality herbs are needed to continue cultivating. He doesn’t allow them to accompany him. I think this is to keep secret the specific herbs he needs. He knows Han Li too smart to have recipes down. When he gets back from trip he is completely exhausted and health failing. Han Li tries to help but knows the doc is running out of time. He is taking the same bone agony pills Li Feiyu is and has one year left. He is now threatening friends and family if Han Li doesn’t get level 4 before year end. Zhang Tie catches doc talking with shadowy immortal and hears them conspiring about true intentions for Han Li. He hid well but was discovered and dealt with. When Han Li asks about him he is lied to. The gloves come off and the doc has a candid conversation. He tells Han Li his age is 37. Now fun fact the actor’s age is 73, so not sure if this inverted as a funny or just interesting coincidence. He makes Han Li take a pill that will definitely do bad things to him. He does, however, teach him his motto. These 4 rules will prove quite useful for Han Li later. Hide cleverness with clumsiness. Do good with discretion. Stay pure in this world of darkness. Treat concession as a way to advance. Han li has advanced to tier 4 but wants to level more before doc finds out. He is also learning defense skills from Li Feiyu who suggests poison as a first step. Han Li knows his life depends on learning and cultivating as much as possible. His family and friends’ lives are also in the balance. His mystery bottle has let him open it. The essence ages plants hundreds of years instantly. He also learned it is not for living things to ingest. His scarecrow to fool doc’s bird spies was fun. This has let him collect herbs and learn more than mentor gives him credit for. The element of surprise will be his best asset when battle time comes.

How two blockheads become physician disciples

The episode starts with narrator telling how he became a cultivator. He goes back 200 years when he and best friend enter a race to become members of seven mysteries sect. They both are poor, illiterate, and know the only way they can help their families is to place in this contest. They are only known as blockhead until old enough to participate. So today the two friends become Han Li and Zhang Tie. Luck was not with them and they were diverted to be disciples of a doctor. They are taken to a beautiful remote location and tested to see if any value to their mentor. Han Li can cultivate but his friend cannot. So Han Li bargains for both of them to stay and the doc offers to teach Zhang Tie mammoth skin. He also promises to teach them how to read and write. If they can level up, he will pay them the same as seven mysteries sect members so they are happy to be able to send home money to pay off their families’ flour debt. They have three rules to follow. They must pay attention to everything in their surroundings, they are not to interfere with the locals and they must recite and level a mantra. One year later Han Li has reached tier 1 and can read and write. He is becoming too smart so the doc hides the books. Zhang Tie’s skin is developing folds like elephant so he is progressing in strength. Moving on to level 2, Han Li finds a green bottle while herb hunting and learns it collects moonlight. They both know to hide this from the doc. A run in with a couple traitors results in the doc throwing one over the cliff so both now know the doc has hidden martial arts skills. He also has a black entity following him around wanting the leveling to go faster. The doc has a dark secret and is not the benevolent mentor they thought he was. He does help them learn medical skills and herb growing and preparation, but he isn’t as forthright with why he is willing to train them. Han Li is approaching level 3 when episode ends. The drama is very like learning the rules of a video game and how to level up. Fortunately many familiar with the story are explaining things of the cultivation world in comments. It is an interesting premise as their mentor is also their nemesis

Unbelievably smooth

Like Zang Hai discussed with Antu, everything that happened in this episode looks like a carefully crafted strategem of the true third figure. There's no way things could escalate so easily like this. Shi Yi Ping's death looks more like an orchestrated ploy to make Zang Hai believe his revenge is done with. He just met his supposed 3rd person of revenge, whom he just thought might be the one, with no hard evidence. I wonder how Zang Hai was convinced that SYP is THE ONE he's searching for? I'm puzzled. Maybe there were some scenes I missed. However, there's no doubt that something fishy is still going on behind the scenes...
