It was good

The movie, frankly, is very wonderful. I loved the heroine’s approach very much. The best thing is that there are no bad feelings. I recommend it. It is useful for teenagers from 14 years old and above. +I recommend it ✨

Cheng Pei Pei in a melodramatic sword romance

Cheng Pei Pei was an ethereal killing machine in The Thundering Sword. What started out as a standard martial arts movie in 1967 quickly evolved into a romantic melodrama only with the stereotypical roles reversed.

Chang Yi and Lo Lieh belong to a sect that believes martial arts are for healing, not killing. The Thundering Sword is a sword that can break all others and their leader Tien Feng sends them on a quest to find it so that the dangerous weapon can be destroyed. Chang Yi comes upon Cheng Pei Pei as she dispatches a handful of villains who had made the mistake of attacking her. Chang Yi reprimands her for killing them which she doesn’t take too seriously even as she is instantly smitten with the righteous fighter. Later that night she stumbles across Lo Lieh who had survived numerous deadly traps to recover the Thundering sword. She steals the sword when he’s not looking and throws three poisonous darts into his chest for his troubles. When she realizes he is a sword brother to Chang Yi she takes him to an escort service to have him carried home where he must be treated within three days. After receiving 5000 pieces of silver the escort service promises that they will deliver him or die. On the road to the temple, perma-smirk Chen Hung Lieh thinking the group must be protecting the sword, attacks the convoy with Cliff Lok at his side. He awakens Lo Lieh only to torture him and leave him for dead. When Pei Pei realizes the escort agency failed, she returns to collect their debt…to be paid with their lives. Around 30 bodies later she leaves just as Chang Yi arrives, quickly followed by Ku Feng who accuses him of the mass murder. Pei Pei and Chang Yi reunite and marry which antagonizes Chang’s jealous sect sister made worse when she discovers that Pei Pei was the reason Lo Lieh was poisoned and crippled. When Chang Yi is captured and tried for the escort deaths, Pei Pei tries to tell anyone who will listen that she was the perpetrator.

I recapped the story to bring up a point that I thought was interesting. In old martial arts movies, men fought for a hundred different reasons and dying at the point of a sword or by an iron fist was not unexpected. Somehow when a woman was defending herself and killed the bandits, it was harshly judged. In this movie, the sect at the Baiyun Temple where Chang Yi and Lo Lieh trained were taught not to kill. Pei Pei at the Centipede/Caterpillar sect, was not taught those same rigorous morals. Her first impulse tended to be to lash out, especially toward her poor loyal maid. The fights were largely the swipe and fly backwards style although there was the occasional imbedded sword in a body or dismemberment. At one point in a long scene Pei Pei went behind a curtain with a stuntman playing her coming out the other side in order to do some acrobatics. Ever fierce and graceful whether wielding a sword or a whip, Pei Pei was entertaining to watch. Chang Yi and Lo Lieh didn't have to learn much fight choreography because they scarcely lifted a sword.

Cheng Pei Pei gave a wonderfully complex performance as the ferocious fighter and also as the tender, concerned lover. Chang Yi in a rare hero role was unable to sell it, coming across rather stiff. I wish that Lo Lieh had been given that role instead as he had little to do in this film. He had great chemistry with Pei Pei in Golden Swallow and could have given a deeper performance than Chang Yi. Both Chang Yi and Lo Lieh would end up typecast as villains within a few years. Tien Feng played his share of bad guys as well. Despite their limited time and success, it was fun seeing these ‘heels’ playing ‘faces’. Also worth noting, the music and cinematography for this category of film was quite good.

If you’re looking for one of Cheng Pei Pei’s more traditional sword-fighting roles, best to skip this one as it devolved into a very melodramatic romance with little fighting in the second half. What was worth seeing for me was Pei Pei’s opportunity to shine in a more diverse emotional role.

What is Korea?

Can I use spoilers for a review of a true story? I will try not to because I saw the movie in complete ignorance and i was 100% engaged in the story thankful that i didn't know what will happen next. That made the viewing of the movie much better. After watching the movie i checked some facts and it turns out that the movie is very faithful to the true events.

This is a sports drama at its best. There are many inspirational stories but this is one of the best I saw. It shows a sporting spirit and also a Korean spirit, so in t he end, this is very patriotic movie. At the time when Korea was not even recognized in the world, a few individuals were fighting for Korean pride with sport. That shows that sport is not only a virtue in itself but it is also a means to connect people and a great ambassador in the world.
PS. I am also from a small country but every time i visited Korea people connected me with the famous athletes from my country. Well i should learn more about Korean athletes also. So thank you movie for teaching me a valuable lesson and showing me once again what is Korea.

An entertaining show abt smuggling..

I love Kim hye soo and I love everything she is in... She has capability of making a show worth watching.....
As you can predict from the star cast, the acting part was not lacking in any way...
The story may seem a bit lacking for the first 10- 20 minutes but but but don't quit.. keep watching....
Omg this was such a fun show... The ending was really satisfying..
I don't really wanna say anymore coz tht would be giving out spoiler.
But I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this.
Worth watching

TOO BORING

the movie itself was slow paced and the script was just wierd and not that interesting. watching it half way and then dropped it but 🤷🏾‍♀️. i just couldn’t watch anymore of it

don’t think i can say anything about how i liked it besides the acting i guess but that’s it. this has potential but

also it was wierd that fml was already starting to have feelings for a ai in the beginning on here computer like what lmao

Dislikes :
- the slowness of the drama. the directors could’ve speed it up a little but like i had to watch in 1.5x speed

Likes :
- literally have none lmao

Thrillride

It was my first Korean movie and I'm so happy I watched it!
I only gave 5 ⭐ for Music because there wasn't like any music and 7.5 ⭐ for Rewatching Value, cuz you know what will happen and it's not as thrilling as watching it for the first time. Still rewatchable!
To the story:
The start of the movie throws you right into cold water with the first murder.
The female main character being deaf and mute makes it kinda easier for the murderer, which is pretty frustrating, but since she's pretty smart and knows how to deal with it, she always manages to get away from him.
The ending is cute with the brother and sister, the main lead and her mother at the sea, but I wished for the "villain" to get a more punishing ending than just dying.
Ending: I wasn't expending her stabbing herself to get back at him but she was giving off baddy vibes😅
I recommend this one for people who like thrillers and want to watch and exciting movie with frustrating scenes and plots.

Man's best friend

I really like how the story plays out I don't feel like they tried to rush the story they really took their time in building up the characters and who they are and what they stand for, depite me have a fear for dogs these are one of those dramas that make me rethink 'do I really have a fear for dogs?' And builds the ever so slight chance of me getting a dog in the near future I really like it that a both the dog and the characters have a strong bond nearly unbreakable bond that really wants you to like dog no matter how scared you may be of dogs, in the end sometimes we need a companion.

Heart-warming

This is my second time watching this movie and oh Man. My heart hurts!
I forgot how the movie ended and it definitely woke me up from reality.
I decided to rewatch this because of Byeon Woo Seok. I recently just finished watching ‘Strong Girl Nam Soon’ and his acting in that drama was remarkable. I did not expect to see him as the villain. This is one of the reasons I decided to rewatch this because I miss his innocent character haha.
Anyways. I love this drama. I remember watching it for the first time saying why is it two hours. That's too long. But as I kept watching, I wished it was a drama.
It's so emotional! I love shows or movies that occurred in the 90s. It brings back my childhood and just shows life being simple regardless of being poor.
The friendships. High school life. Romance. Third wheeling. The plot and the ending.
It's definitely one of a kind.
This movie reminds me of ‘She’s Dating the Gangster it's a Filipino romance movie that is similar to the story of this drama.
Risking everything for the cause of others.
Anyways. I'm glad I rewatched it. I've been craving.. hahah. this drama. I just can't bear the watch 25-21. That one OMG. I caanot.
But. Worth every seconds.

This movie, at least for me, has great value. It is completely different from what I am used to from Thailand with the BL line. It is about three beings, so different, from the Burmese-Thai border, specifically, part of the story goes (even backwards) to the separatist Burmese province of Shan (Shan), where life is very cruel for some, and everything is underlined by the fact that the two states (Myanmar and Thailand) do not have a completely ideal foreign-political relationship, it is interwoven with other characters and the story enriched me. Wan, later Sorn, has a difficult life in Shan, first among the monks, then in the Burmese army, he wants to get to Thailand with his powers and what he has to undergo. I didn't even mind the fact that the eroticism unfolded with a maximum of touches, which only increased the value of the film for me this time. A lot of interesting things, even if the film probably won't appeal to all viewers.

Zajímavé hodně, i když snímek neosloví asi všechny diváky.

those final punches

If you are on Twitter (X) you can see many instances where students dare to provoke teachers and even fight with them. This movie is, of course, a fictional story about something similar, a teacher who if provoked into fighting with a student. The story is quite simple but unexpected, and the resolution is well prepared and realized. There is action, comedy, drama, all mixed into a cute and yet brutal high school experience. Boy, I am so happy that i am not in high school anymore.

This movie is not a super hero blockbuster, even though at one moment it seemed to be going into superhero direction. I am glad it didn't and that the women strength is depicted as realistically as possibile in the logic of the movie. Also, i just read here on the site that this is based on a webtoon and i must say that the movie gave me that vibe and reminded me on "Lookism" and "Moving". And yes, those final punches were straight from the comics.
.. 요 or should i say Meow!

Just loved this

It has everything I wanted. Comedy, Romance, little bit of drama, emotional scenes everything.

Specially the song Hayi Shava. Ohh my god. I just love the song and its vibes are awesome. I literally heard the song for at least hundred times. Still can’t stop myself. For me it’s a must watch movie.

Both couples are great. Bright is my all time favorite actor. And I really enjoyed watching Bright and Bella together.

It worth your time trust me. I’m telling you, if you’re a fan of Rom com then this movie is for you.

So just go and watch it.

I’m gonna watch it again.

Good Enough

Korean Movie '' Concrete Utopia '' is a dystopian drama about how a utopia-like man-made society is turned into a dictatorship after a man takes over.

The movie pretty much shows how human nature reacts to power. There are those who fear it, those who dwell in it, those who want part of it. And the drama does a great job presenting it, as it escalates from an innocent fight for survival to a dark regime. Even the ending does the story justice. And yes, there are some predictable twists and overused ones as well, the overall result was quite satisfying.

Also, the performances were really good by everyone in the cast, but especially the three main leads that did great with their emotional scenes.

So, overall, eight and a half out of ten.

Currently, out of all the BL films that I've watched. This one is the best and realest of them all. I don't know but maybe it's rather a Gay film than BL cause it's seriously just about the struggles of gay relationship that is closeted then gaining confidence to go out. It's a simple film theme but the MLs performance were so *chefs kiss* good that it made it better, the interactions and passionate scenes felt so real, like a gay couple is doing things on their daily life and I get to watch it.
It also touches on relationships clashing with sexuality :( like if you're late into finding out about it and you're in a relationship, that's gotta hurt for the other one. So lesson learned, don't be in a relationship until you find out about your sexuality.

Kinda cute, but will also make you feel something

When I was looking for something to watch from Nana, I was intrigued by this because i also saw Arthur Chen in the cast.

I wasn't really expecting anything when i watched this, all i know is i just wanna watch something where Nana is in it. In the beginning, it was kinda meh, like the way they built up the characters and the story was uninteresting at first because it's like your typical youth love story with family drama in it, but when it got to the 2nd half of the story it actually got better, because the love triangles got thrown in. also, they've expanded on the family drama and i was like "Ohh? this is serious..." like suddenly i found myself caring for FL and ML and curious where the story would go, though it was predictable (in a good way).

The characters were okay because again it's your usual youth love story, but the dynamic between FL and ML was still cute along with the other side characters and also with the parents, and then again when it got to the 2nd half with all that drama and love triangle shit, the dynamic got even more interesting, the lines even though the mains are just high schoolers, carry such emotions and the way we get to hear what they think in their minds makes you feel for these characters.

Since this was in the early years of Nana and Arthur's career, the acting wasn't really the best, but it was still good. Arthur still has that smug expression that i saw in him in L&P, he's really good at acting cold characters. Nana, it was kinda of weird for me because i found her acting here much better than her acting in 'The Great Ruler' even though this movie was 3 years before TGR, I think it's got to do with the characters that she's playing, in TGR she was playing a Cold Goddess Princess that hasn't interacted with the mortals so she doesn't how to talk and act with the mortals, in conclusion, she's being held back by the character, while in here because of the heavy drama in the 2nd half she gets to showcase some ranges of emotions and expressions.

So yeah, good movie. I would probably rewatch it again and i highly recommend it if you want something cute but also with something that makes you feel.
