The slow motion slap looked disgusting as jumping to mud pond knowing that its pond. ML looked as a monster torturing and abusing FL mentally and physically and making pregnant. I wanted to puke because of the bad acting.
FL goes shopping, out of house and sleeping in maid clothes seems too unrealistic, atleast she should have removed that maid apron. She was stupid like a bimbo and this movie is a crap.
The whole story is very disappointing and giving my time to such bad movies makes it feel me more frustrating

Why It Would've been better if it was a drama
However, I have yet to watch the Korean drama version (original). But I could already tell that the Korean version is better, not because it's the original. But because it's a drama (show) and not a movie. Which is why this Chinese version doesn't quite stand well for me. If they made the remake a drama (show) instead, it would've been very good. While I was watching the movie, it felt like the plot was rushed. We were also missing a lot of key evidence which would've made us understand the plot and characters more. The romance scenes were portrayed in a time lapse sort of thing, so I couldn't quite get how she fell in love with her brother. It happened way too fast, I also don't know at what point the 2nd ML fell in love with the FML. The only clue I got was when the FML paid for the 2nd ML, in which he began to show an interest in her. It didn't show his process of falling in love with her, just him starting to pursue her. Maybe I'm just blind and didn't see it, but I'm pretty sure this is a great example of why it felt like the plot was rushed. If this was made into a drama, I feel like people would've understood more about the characters and how their character develops. Overall the plot would've been so much interesting if it was prolonged. It would've been such a great drama. Putting aside the feeling of the plot being rushed, the ending did a very well job in making me cry. Also, I don't really see how people find it odd that the FML fell in love with her "brother." Yes they were treated and raised as siblings for 12 yrs. But when you find out you really aren't brother and sister after 12 yrs, then get estranged for 12 yrs. You would feel like complete strangers, because they weren't together in the most crucial part of their lives. While you enter your teenage years and early adulthood; you start learning more about life, you start maturing, you go through adversities, you start experiencing lots of things, and etc.. You become different from who you were. Plus the MLs strong obsession with finding his "sister" and his longing for her in the beginning is probably HIS cause for falling in love with her. Because strong desires/emotions like obsessions (because you constantly think of the person/object) can easily change into love, well at least in the drama world. I'm not sure if I explained the whole brother/sister situation completely or properly. But then again it wouldn't matter if I was wrong about my whole analyzation of this weird romance, because the main point is that it's alright to ME...Was this review helpful to you?
Wow
This movie was impactful. Powerful emotion throughout. It was sad, happy, romantic and painful. Very painful which is the sign of a well told story. The acting was outstanding and moving. Even if you did not like a character you believed them. Such a well told and powerful story of loss of more than one kind and by more then one person. The three main leads were all so very moving. Jay and the Kid were my favorites but the mom did her part on the emontional rollercoaster too. Would recomend would rewatch. Was this review helpful to you?
●I have watched a number of FL movies but this girl haven't improved a bit. She is just paled beautiful but lacks acting skills. She is used as a tool by her friend and until the very end she doesnt see the truth, thas too much for being naive.
ML is shown as masochist, i mean why cant the director make a good love story why does he have to berate the ML in each of his movie. Ok given writer had wrote this and nobody has the right to change it. But can the directors make these movies less frustrating and annoying.
Kissing scenes were uncomfortable, its ML always forcing and FL gives in, WHY WHY? Just push him girl, you cant be that weak or are you also enjoying pain?
The friends ofcouse, the betraying friends.
●Music is repetitive from the previous movies of FL and its kind of frustrating and i skip those scenes.
●Ending is good and gives a closure to the whole story and all the characters.

Needs a prerequisite on Japanese history during the Sengoku era before watching the movie
I've been wanting to watch this movie for soooo long! Being a fan of Japanese history AND a fan of Okada Junichi, watching this film is a must.I actually enjoyed the movie overall. However, it wouldn't be easy to recommend. This movie is made for those with a knowledge of Japanese history (Basically, the Japanese population who are forced to study it when they are in school). A newbie will not be able to understand the story, nor the stakes of this battle. I have watched numerous dramas about this era. I have also read about many of the lords involved in that decisive battle, so I managed to follow the story without too much trouble.
There are several things to appreciate in this movie. For starters, the acting of key figures in the movie were well cast and superbly performed. Okada Junichi continues to impress with his acting skills. This movie is a testament to how far he's come. I also could not have imagined a better actor to be cast as Tokugawa Ieyasu than Yakusho Koji. He managed to portray the many sides of Japan's third unifier despite the overall biased take of the events in this movie.
What I found interesting is the portrayal of "Ninja-wars" that happened alongside the story. Information was definitely key to winning the war. Therefore their portrayal brought clarity to how it happened.
The action here is portrayed realistically and beautifully. Nothing too gory, but bloody enough to understand the horror of it.
Yet, there were many issues in this movie that prevented me from giving it a better score. Narration is a big one. Narration is often done in Taiga dramas. However, in this movie, it is indistinguishable from the conversations done between characters. Another huge issue is the choppy editing throughout the whole movie. I know there is a huge amount of information to be portrayed, but I wish they had given more time to smoothen the scene-to-scene.
Another mini-complaint is putting the character Hatsume at the forefront of the movie when it is an imaginary character, who doesn't have any true effect on the story. I also find it weird that princess chacha/Yodo-done wasn't given much of a role in this movie when historically, she plays an important part in the events preceding the battle. The movie mentions the connection between Mitsunari and Yodo-dono, yet neither explored nor even portrayed.
Overall, I still enjoyed that movie despite its flaws. I recommend this movie solely if you have at least a working knowledge of the Sengoku era of Japanese history.

Super entertaining, funny and fun
I think this was one of the first Korean movies I ever watched. It was something new and boy oh boy was it good, I enjoyed it thouroughly and just thinking about it makes me wanna go back and rewatch it.Far from perfect but really really REALLY entertaining. There really isn't much to say other than I laughed and I laughed out loud so much it made my heart siiiing.
It's really funny and really interesting to watch for the first time especially. I had a lot of fun watching it.
I would like to add that I've probably rewatched this up to 5 times ... Rewatch value is a 10 for sure.

Dark characters, pretty powerful story
Very dark and sad story about the worst of circumstances that life can throw at someone. Pretty graphic scenes both sexual and violence, but most necessary in telling the story. FL is awesome- she would have made a great actress if the inevitable did not happen. She is on the edge of desperation, first in selling her whole self to any guy with a buck, to being with a boyfriend that she knows there is not a future with; and then the story pivots from this seedy side of Tokyo to the rural calm of the village. But the village does not bring any relief for her as the past does not go away and the reason she escaped is still there. She does find some comfort in her high school friend and she gets to experience some level of joy when they are together at the lake and the bbq, but her history is just too tragic and so much a part of her that she will never escape it. I thought maybe they would be together in the end, but she is just too far gone. I liked the ending- we can only imagine what is next for her- will she find peace- probably not, will she die- possibly, or anything else- it is up to the viewer to think about it. I like to see that kind of ending in these kind of movies. Was this review helpful to you?
A typical fantasy movie with romance and magic
I'm a big fan of mermaids, fantasy and all that jazz, so when I heard about this movie, I had to give it a try. Attempting to find it with English subs was a challenge, but I was able to watch a version dubbed in my language.Overall story was basic, easy to follow, and romance is not over the top cheesy. I liked the supernatural aspects of the story. Like the others say, it is a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a twist. It's not completely out of nowhere, but it's a little different. I don't like toxic relationships, so I was a bit turned off by the FL's husband.
Music is forgettable, unfortunately.

What does it mean to feel?
I honestly think that the pace of this movie is slow. But you have to ride with its slow pace, if not, its soul won't open up. Skipping even a second of it makes huge of a difference. Scenes from the movie were genuine enough to seize the status of many ordinary families. Whilst watching the funeral scene, I felt I was forcing myself to cry when my eyes had gone dry. This film made me feel desolate just as A Ho felt apathetic before he had thrown a fit. A Ho did not shed a single tear for the death of his brother. For the family, A Ho was nothing but a remnant that cannot even be in comparison with his older brother A Hao. Which made sense for A Ho's rigidness. His presence was toned down after A Hao gained all the expectations of their parents. The Chen parents' reactions state their partiality towards the kid, creating a gap between each of them. A hard-to-swallow fact, "Both of them liked one better than the other". A Hao was that 'one', and because he was, he was at the peak of the tower but it was too exhausting for him that he had to give up. Remember when he said, "Sima Guang saw a child, and it was himself." When people expect a lot from you, you live up to their expectations to the point that you lose track of yourself. Of who you really are even without them telling who you are. A Hao is in the same situation as Sima Guang. Except that depression ate him. Expectations drowned him.
While A Ho remained detached from the rest of the family. He knew he had enough of Radish's manipulative actions. And yet he was dragged into another trouble. The prison cell was his awakening of the life distant from the crimes he was brought up in. I felt blue seeing A Ho so lifeless and without dreams in life even after his release. All the brightness was seeped out of him. He didn't even bother getting released earlier.
How many joys and sorrows does life hold?
I don't know
But I could say that joys and sorrows come hand in hand
And if there's someone, who, regardless of his role, is not crying nor laughing but rather numb. I hope they can feel again.

Period Movie about Love and Patriotism
This is a pretty good movie and not what i expected. It is a story of Korea's struggle for independence weaved into a love story. The music is very nice and soothing. Although they could have showed the cabaret/moulin rouge number of Kim Hye Soo a lot longer in the beginning to establish more impact since she could actually sing and dance anyhow. It could highlight how dazzled the hero was that resulted his behaviour in the movie.
Plot is very solid and the characters well developed You will not find any behaviour or scene that would deviate from the storyline or character developement.
The love story is very realistic and you could actually sympathize with the hero who's beliefs and principles were changed by love, and the heroine who was willing to sacrifice everything for her love for her country.
The hero started off as carefree and easygoing, being affluent and on the elite side due to his family's alliance with the Japanese regime. He totally didn't expect to fall head over heels in love with a mysteriously lovely night club singer whose principles are far different from his.
She first saw him as an opportunity and means to fulfill her duty for the country that was trying to leave the Japanese regime but his continued pursuit in love and his persistence in wooing her made her fall in love with him as well.
There was a pivotal scene where she asked him what was his dream as a child and he smiled and replied to be a Japanese so he would be rich and successful like his father and uncles. You could see the pained expression in her face as she realized they were different and he would not understand her dream of indepence for Korea and so she kept trying to run away from him as she fulfills her plan to instigate a coup against the Japanese government, while he in turn kept chasing her to convince her to forget her plans and marry him and live a good, quiet life in the country.
The climax of the movie provided a good arch before the final outcome.
Good for the young generation to see a glimpse of the past.

Good!!!
This was a good movie, i'm typically not a fan of the whole cheating/affairs trope however thats a personal preference and this was executed quite well! Overall, the movie had some amazing aspects however I felt like there were quite a few 'hole' within the storyline with somr things not mentioned or explained and sudden aspects that happen out of knowhere. The movie was very gritty and the characters show a lot of flaws, and is very slowburn. And aside from the above points its a very good adaptation!
However, one thing I really did not like was the ending. I understand how it ends but at the same time I don't. I'm a sucker for happy endings but this one was so ambiguous I have absolutely no idea where it would go. Why are there never any super happy endings in lgbt dramas lol.

I really liked this film, and sent the link to my friends so they could see it as well.
My only complain is that Lee (her actress) seems a bit old to be in college (I imagine is college).
Everyones actings is good, not impressive but better than average.

Dong Ju: The Portrait of a Poet is an eloquent story woven around the poet's own insightful words. Shot in black and white, the monochrome film beautifully fits the quiet, intense mood of the short lives of these two young men.
I will leave the historical aspect of this film to those who have a personal stake in it or are more well versed in it than I am.
This film is as much about Yun Dong Ju's cousin and revolutionary, Song Mong Gyu, as it is the poet. Their lives are intertwined, two different ideals in how to resist during a time of hated occupation. One willing to use a gun, the other a pen though at times those lines blur. Their friendship though challenged never waivers.
The story begins and ends with the young men in prison. The present takes place during Yun's interrogation by the Japanese. As Yun is questioned, the past is revealed to show the steps they took to end up in prison. Quoting Yun's poetry to the corresponding events paints the conflicted feelings he had over his role during the dark times and his attempt to find hope in the moment. The tripod of present, past and poetry is perfectly balanced.
Kang Ha Neul gives a restrained and poignant performance as Yun's younger self and later as the tortured prisoner knowing death is imminent, reflecting on his actions and inactions. All the performances are good but his stood out as the titular character.
Dong Ju is an elegantly filmed story of an inelegant and agonizing time told through the courage, defiance and beauty of poetry and a poet.
Prelude
Wishing not to have
so much as a speck of shame
toward heaven until the day I die,
I suffered, even when the wind stirred the leaves.
With my heart singing to the stars,
I shall love all things that are dying.
And I must walk the road
that has been given to me.
Tonight, again, the stars are
brushed by the wind.
