Love story in the 1970s (Chinese Title <<纯真年代的爱情>> Love in the innocent Days) is Adapted from Meng Zhongde's Novel ''The Love of a pragmatist'' of Jinjiang literature City .It is set in the premise of Mid to Late 1970s, Ending years of China's cultural revolution, a turning point of history from factory workshops to re-education camps ,from banned literatures to College entrance exams. This drama felt like a love letter to that difficult era,it tells people even on the coldest of days,human heart will still find warmth.

The male protagonist,Fang Muyang, & his sister Fang Mujing comes from a family with a bad political background, one of the "Black Five Categories".Their parents were sent to do manual labor somewhere unknown ("re-education camps") & Fang Mujing severed ties with family in order to stay at the university as a Math teacher and participate in classified research. 2nd Male lead, Qu Hua,is a neurosurgeon with impeccable credentials, He appears refined, calm, reliable, & comes from an influential Military family of grace.

The female protagonist, Fei Ni, is a kind of girl who shines through her ordinary charms,She works in the factory at daytime,mends old clothes under night light, plans for her dreams of becoming a writer, She's one rare of a kind for her time, Ambitious,intelligent, hardworking & Empathetic.Fang Muyang & Feini were Middle school classmates.They meet Again when He got hospitalized From a rescue accident, saving lives & becoming a "Hero".Feini takes the initiative to take care of the comatose Fang Muyang not because of childhood sweetheart feelings, but because she wants a spot in the university recommendation (College entrance examination was abolished at that time & replaced by an unfair recommendation system).After some turn of events, They eventually get married to get the housing allotment of the Hero, & starts a Bunk-bed couple life.

"Marrying first and falling in love later" sounds cliché, But the screenwriter managed to make this plot feel real and comforting.There were no third-party conflicts between them, no dramatic misunderstandings, only tender details in everyday life - Genuine & sweet. Well, not always too sweet because someone is determined to sabotage their housing unit,& ironically, the tension, fear & following events of almost getting exposed of the "fake marriage" kept bringing them closer and closer as the time goes by. This gradual development of their feelings is truly touching.Fang Muyang is gentle & kind at heart, He is deeply devoted to Feini, doing his best to give her a good life, and treating her family as his own.This couple is portrayed as people who suffer hardships & make sacrifices silently at home.They face problems & solve them together, they support each other’s dreams & passions & try their best to pursue them together. They are like two good people deserving of all good things in life.At the end of the day, Fang Muyang & Feini are not only victors in love, but also the most simple "light chasers" of that era.

Qu Hua & Fang Mujing get married as a mutually beneficial arrangement & gradually fall into a tug-of-war in emotional storms, creating a strong dramatic tension.They have highly compatible personalities, Both are talented, clean-cut, composed, awkward,& somewhat arrogant. Wang Tianchen brought Qu Hua to life, both in appearance and acting skills.Guo Xiaoting, with her cool and aloof attitude, perfectly captured Fang Mujing's qualities & beauty.This two actors possess a relatively mature and refined demeanor, befitting the era.For some viewers, the push & pull dynamic of this second lead couple may outshine the charm & innocence of the leads,yes they are THAT passionate & charismatic, endearing in their own ways.

As the characters are interconnected, their interpersonal bonds are strong, along with Fei family dynamics as a core. The script is Solid with brisk plot development & consistent character Growths. The usual life in the 70s China felt raw : the simple achievements of doing Carpentry on their own, Coupons to get permission for meat,drinks, making & repairing a TV out of old instruments, everything felt so real to
make it a heartwarming period drama with lighthearted comedic touch, further enhanced with Nuanced but captivating performances of the Actors. Fei family father, Fei Mingde is another character who moved hearts of the audiences, His love for his family is unconditional, & he gives his children absolute respect. Actor Wu Yue did exceptionally well carrying the depth of fatherly love, he did his role so convincingly that i couldn’t help tearing up at some emotional scenes.Fei mother's actress was great as well.

Third couple are Feini's brother Fei Ting, & her best friend Lin Mei.I loved how realistic Fei Ting's character was, firm, confused & vulnerable, having a passionate interest in culinary stuffs, bro just wants to cook 🤣.The fourth couple is factory director's Son, Ye feng & ML's old acquaintance Ling Yi, well they are a perfect match for each other lol.

Director Chen Chang's use of cinematic language is appreciating, from using a drilled cookie tin as a flower vase of lead couple's newly decorated house, to using the same holed biscuit tin to create a nightclub like lighting setup at midnight in the film projector scene of listening to Mozarts...the camera focus, Angles & directions...All seemed like real artful skills.Chen Feiyu & Sun Qian served striking chemistry, whether it is in the earlier hospital days of consuming carrots,or on the difficult days in the tents of post earthquake shelters.

The production team's attention to detail is commendable,they richly created an era atmosphere set of the 1970s, restoring old 50s & 60s factory workshops for filming location, sourced enamel mugs & old sewing machines from old markets, built a dormitory building on the site of the former Chongqing University of Mining and technology. The dormitory iron beds, old Fashioned tea cups,propaganda slogans,worn out clothing patches are all recreated to give the audience a truly immersive experience. The actors lived in the factory area for two weeks beforehand, experiencing life with ration coupons and operating machines. Chen Feiyu cut his hair short and practiced his craft, the calluses on his hands were real. Sun Qian's work pants were worn faded, with even the loose threads on the cuffs showing authentic wear. These small details give the entire series warmth ,not just a retro feel, but authenticity.

It is a perfect example of when a work is made with care & dedication,no matter how much was the resources, it will hit the audience with it's genuinity & thoughtfulness. It made me happy when i saw this drama topping All charts of Ratings & Views in China during it's broadcast period, unexpectedly becoming one of the most successful TV dramas of 2026. I immensely enjoyed the 29 episodes ,& really wished for even more.Some stories stay with me & lingers for a long time,i think this will be one of those for me.I hope the viewers who are reading this to get an idea will enjoy it as much as i did.

A Well-Rounded Drama About Love, Society, and Resilience

Usually for this kind of drama, people wouldn’t expect much from the romance. But this one truly excels in every aspect from the warmth of family love to pure love stories with different dynamics, and even the way it explores societal issues. It feels complete.

I cried a lot watching this drama. Not only tears of sadness, but also tears of happiness. Even though the characters are fictional, the struggles they went through were very real struggles faced by people in the past. The sandwich generation, misogyny, and patriarchal mindset since it was set around the 1970s, you can understand the context, but it is still painful to witness. You feel frustrated and helpless for them.

What I love the most is how the male lead always prioritises the female lead. He includes her in every goal and every plan. It is never just his dream; it is always their dream. That kind of love feels intentional and reassuring — gentle, yet strong.

Through the side characters, we learn that career is important, but so is family. Sometimes in life, you have to let go of something. However, when both sides are willing to understand each other, problems can slowly be resolved. The drama shows that relationships require compromise, but not at the cost of losing yourself.

I also appreciate how it portrays relationships that may begin for practical reasons or mutual benefit. Even if love is not pure at the start, it can grow over time. Feelings can deepen. So we should not give up on love simply because it does not begin perfectly.

Another important message in this drama is resilience. It shows that resilience is the key to success. Losing once does not mean you should stop trying. One failure does not define the end. You keep going until you achieve what you aim for. I am especially proud of Feini. She believed in herself despite the obstacles, and in the end, she achieved what she wanted. That part truly moved me.

Some of the incidents were even based on real events, which made the story feel even more impactful and meaningful.

Although 2026 has just begun, I can already say that this is one of the most well-rounded dramas I have watched. It touches on so many important issues with depth and sincerity.

And I genuinely hope that every girl will meet her own Fang Muyang. Someone who chooses her, includes her in every dream, protects her heart, and never makes her feel small.

We truly deserve that kind of love 💗🥹

In this drama, your math skill was not required

I watched this long time ago and tried to rewatch again. The story is kind of generic plot on duanju. FL found her husband got affair with SFL and she want divorce. ML helps FL and ask her for marriage FL reluctantly accept. Chen Yun Ting character are quite good but Meng Lu character lacks charm beside being older woman. SML aka FL ex husband has quite weird logic why he think FL divorce him and she want him while he cheats. I really hate when man talks "We just did what usual man do" at infidelity.

I am not good at math but their age was confusing. How ML work on FL company ten years ago while his current age was 22 years old. Is child labor illegal in China? Scriptwriter needs to learn math for character age.

Only recommended for fans of the actor. Not worth to rewatch.

The Practical Guide to Love opens with a familiar but still compelling premise: a woman in her thirties decides it’s time to step back into the dating world. Beneath that simple setup sits a very contemporary anxiety — the sense that the window for love may be narrowing, and that time suddenly matters in ways it didn’t before.

Our heroine enters the singles scene through blind dates, where the drama quickly begins to explore its central question: stability or passion — which makes the better foundation for a life?

Her first blind date initially shows promise. The man is sincere and clearly serious about relationships. In fact, perhaps *too* serious. His openness about wanting marriage and long-term commitment should, in theory, be reassuring. Yet mentioning marriage on a first date lands awkwardly. It reveals a tension many daters know well: honesty about intentions is admirable, but relationships still need space to unfold naturally. By jumping too quickly to the end goal, he unintentionally unsettles the rhythm of the encounter.

He also commits another quiet but realistic dating misstep — he fails to follow up promptly afterward. Despite seeming genuinely interested, his slow response leaves the heroine uncertain about where she stands. Anyone who has navigated modern dating will recognize this moment: uncertainty grows quickly when communication stalls.

There is also a small but refreshingly honest scene when the heroine discovers he drives a luxury car. Her perception of him softens slightly. It’s handled with humor and subtlety — a wink to the uncomfortable truth that financial stability does play a role in adult dating. For women in their thirties especially, practical considerations about future life often enter the equation whether we like to admit it or not. The drama acknowledges this without moralizing, which feels realistic and surprisingly mature.

But just as that first date begins to falter, a second appears. This time she believes she’s meeting someone wealthy and socially impressive. Instead, the man who arrives is not the one she expected at all. A last-minute substitution introduces a younger and far less affluent man — but one who immediately disrupts the emotional atmosphere. He teases her, challenges her, and uses light flirtatious touches that quickly send her heart racing.

And with that, the drama lays out its central dilemma.

Do you choose the person who offers stability, warmth, and security?
Or the one who awakens excitement, youth, and passion?

Romantic dramas tend to resolve this tension in one of two moral directions. In one version, choosing passion is framed as choosing life itself — the courage to follow the heart even when it’s risky. In the other, the story rewards devotion and steadiness, suggesting that the person who consistently shows up is the one who ultimately deserves love.

Only two episodes in, The Practical Guide to Love has positioned itself squarely between these two philosophies. The question now isn’t simply who the heroine will choose — it’s which vision of love the story ultimately believes in.

Although I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, I'm a huge fan of these actors. Everything about this drama is light and easy to digest - and the plot and direction keep things bumping along nicely. Passion or stability? Doesn't matter. At the end of the day, Love is the winner.

Scary but too restrained

I'll be honest, knowing that this show would be directed and written by the same professionals from Pit Babe, I wasn't at all confident about the result.

But thankfully I was surprised because the result here is nothing short of spectacular.

The series is incredible and really manages to create that atmosphere of terror and tension, and the entire police investigation only makes the plot even more interesting and dynamic.

The makeup and special effects deserve a highlight here. As does the art direction and sound design, which are fantastic and manage to create a truly frightening atmosphere.

The acting is good, nothing spectacular, but it works very well within the premise. The characters, however, are somewhat shallow.

Thup is very contradictory. At times he knows everything about rituals, at other times he knows nothing. The series removing him as a suspect in the murders too quickly causes the character to lose a lot of development. He's there, but honestly, his story doesn't say anything.

Singha is competent as a police officer but all the trauma from his sister's death is something that comes and goes as the script deems convenient. And this only has a real impact at the end.

Sey and Darin are there but at no point do they convince as forensic scientists.

But what really bothers me, and where the series starts to lose me, is the lack of courage to kill its characters. Only extras die, and this makes the weight of the ghost's attacks lose impact.

There's no real tension at the end because you know they'll all survive. Detective Khem should have died in the attack in the file room. Darin should have died in the final sacrifice. King's father would also have been a great option.

And the series desperately needed these deaths to make the threat even more real. The final revelation of the killer, I must say, is quite anticlimactic.

Especially when, at the end, Thup casts a spell that frees the souls and everything ends. Couldn't he have done that sooner? It's such a weak resolution that it ruins everything the series had been building up to that point.

It's rushed, it's predictable, it's incoherent.

But that doesn't make the series bad, honestly. Coming from the director and writers it came from, the series was almost too successful. And it is, without a doubt, one of the best BL horror series.

Now, the romance... I felt more chemistry between Singha and King than between the main couple. Thup as a suspect and a shadowy character would have added the right spice to make the romance between them work within the series' premise.

THIS WAS SO TOXIC

First, I am not sure why they were all obsessed with Daon. About how everyone talked about him being in love with anyone who was nice to him, I once read in a book that 'abuse can feel like love. Starving people will eat anything', and for Daon it was the same case, as everyone used him in his life and even slightest bit of affection made him like someone. Soohyun's love for him was pure, but whatever he did was psychotic. His extremely violent tendencies ruined everything for both him and Daon, and the fact that in the end Jaemin told him, “You would never even know why I proposed the contract,” physically hurt because he was right. Soohyun never found out that Daon loved him first.

The contract was between Jaemin and Soohyun, as they pretended to date in front of Daon so that they both could live with him and not lose Daon to one another. Not going to lie, as an idiot Soohyun agreed. Man, come on, you both are cowards. For God’s sake, the only person who actually stood up for Daon was the main lead, which is obviously why they ended up together.

Not going to lie, I thought I might be into the toxic story of Soohyun and Daon, but he was way too violent and possessive. I did like some of the scenes a little, but I am glad they did not end up together. Still, I wish he knew. and he should've fought for daon and should've never agreed with that fucking contract. ALSO, FOUND OUT THAT HE'S CHO YOUNG WOO'S BROTHER OOOLALALA

cloud9 type of kdrama

Do you know that feeling of emptiness that settles in after finishing something truly special? The kind of emptiness that cannot be filled by anything else, because the quality of what you just experienced feels almost impossible to replicate. That is exactly what I am feeling right now after finishing this kdrama.
The Park twins are honestly one of the best couples I have ever encountered in any story. Their relationship feels so complete and so genuine. We are talking about the kind of couple where each person fills in the other’s gaps, where their strengths and weaknesses intertwine in such a natural way that together they become something stronger than they ever could be alone. They complement each other so perfectly that it feels almost poetic.
He invented the color green and then went on to create the entire concept of a “green flag”. His actions, his patience, and the way he treats her show a level of emotional maturity that is rare to see portrayed so well. Instead of overpowering her or overshadowing her growth, he supports her and gives her space to become stronger in her own way.
And she is just as remarkable. She manages to gently navigate and help heal the inferiority complex that he carries inside him. Rather than dismissing his insecurities, she understands them, confronts them with care, and helps him see himself differently. Their dynamic feels balanced and mutual, both of them grow because of each other.
Every episode brought something meaningful to the story. It balanced humor and romance beautifully, but it also was not afraid to show pain, vulnerability, and emotional complexity. The story allowed the characters to feel real, flawed, and deeply human.
That combination is exactly what a truly great kdrama needs: humor that makes you laugh unexpectedly, romance that feels sincere rather than forced, moments of pain that give the story weight, and complex character development that keeps you emotionally invested.
I am genuinely in awe of what this drama managed to do. It entertained me, moved me, and left me thinking about the characters long after the final episode ended. At one point I felt like teenage girl experiencing her first love because I was blushing and giggling like one.
And now I am left with that strange, bittersweet emptiness that only truly great stories can create

Just MY Opinion

Most of this was really good cant say i disliked it but for some reason Just like with Fourever You i did not enjoy the first couple much. Maybe its just that i dont like this type of characters as much as others just like with season 1 i enjoyed North and Johan alot more than Hill and Easter. The story, acting and everything is really good but miscommunication/noncommunication just aint my favorite style. But i gave it a higher rating cause i did enjoy it and i see why others love it but it just aint MY cup of tea. OVERALL: i would rewatch and it is a good show i would recommend to others who like their story type.
