Give it a chance!

This is essentially a music video, however it's a well done music video. And Laoji and Jingjian are a classic c-gl pair who do incredibly good work here for it being all of two minutes long. If you miss seeing them together, I would give this a chance because again, there is like some resemblance of a storyline considering it's two minutes long and I liked the way they pieced it together.
On a slightly less relevant note, it's always a bit strange seeing Laojj in modern clothes since I'm so used to seeing her in wuxia/xianxia esque settings in these but she's so hot and I wish she did more 'modern' c-gls every now and then

A lovable and appealing farm romance amidst non-appealing family matters

I was quite skeptical to watch this but after reading the reviews, I gave it a try and trust me, it didnt disappoint me. Glad that I watched it, though late, it really entertained me!!
The plot is simple with our female lead, Lian Man'er, entering a NPC game designed by a gaming company and all the experiences, difficulties, hurdles, love, hate, friendship, family relations, tensive moments, and, of course, trying her level best to gather 1000taels of gold, all form the crux of the story.
Tian Xiwei as Lian Man'er, is awesome. Seriously, I am totally impressed by her performance as a quirky, cheerful, smart, intelligent, village girl with also a bit of kindness and humanity to her personality. She is full of business ideas and works very hard to earn money, and all the emotions and struggles she undergo were excellently portrayed by her. 👏💯
Joseph Zheng as Shen Nuo, is my favorite character in this drama. He is cool, smart, loving, caring, gentle, helping, amiable,and becomes the most reliable person for Man'er, also the person she wants to be with. His acting is splendid 😍💯
I really liked the love track between them, which is a sensible and mature love story.
Coming to her family, they are the epitomes of all the worst thoughts of human hearts, we can think of in this world.
And how Man'er gets her way through this family out and finally with Shen Nuo, save the country from a rebellion forms the latter story.
The photography and locations deserve a great appreciation. 👍👌The backdrop was very pleasant and eye appealing for me. I really love it.
The music is excellent too, especially the track, You, and me. Its become one of my favorites now 😍
On a final note, if anyone is thinking to watch this drama, go ahead without any hesitation and you will certainly enjoy it.

So close to perfect and yet fumbled

📊 THE BRUTALLY HONEST BREAKDOWN
PLOT:
Downtrodden FL needs money for dad's surgery, sees an ad for egg donation, and shows up at a HOTEL ROOM at NIGHT because apparently that's how legitimate medical procedures work now. Spoiler: she ends up backing out of that… and selling herself instead??? Somehow this leads to bagging a rich devoted doctor ML. The premise is "desperate poverty meets transactional intimacy" wrapped in a bow labeled "romance."
CHEMISTRY:
He was magnetic. You could feel his attraction radiating off the screen like heat waves. She looked terrified approximately 90% of the runtime. That's not chemistry, that's a hostage situation with better lighting. When one person is smoldering and the other looks like they're calculating escape routes, it's a vibe killer. He brought the heat, she brought the fear, and together they made... uncomfortable viewing with occasional sexual tension? The potential was there, the execution was a full-body cringe.
SPICE:
OH BOY, did this show DELIVER on the heat! 🔥 We're talking car scenes, bed scenes, shower scenes—the full spicy menu. The intimacy was plentiful, well-shot, and genuinely steamy for about 90% of it. That other 10%? Pure ick because she looked reluctant and he was... persistently forceful about it. Nothing kills the vibes faster than consent ambiguity, but when it worked? It WORKED. If you're here for the steam and can compartmentalize the problematic undertones, you'll get your money's worth. Spice level: volcanic with occasional "wait, did she want that?" interruptions.
THE BULLSHIT:
The CLICHÉS came for this girl like she owed them money! Evil mom who hates her? Check. Coworker sabotaging her? Check. Jealous lady doctor trying to destroy her? CHECK CHECK CHECK. This FL got hunted by every female character in a 10-mile radius. She was assaulted, almost sold, nearly forced into an abortion, and subjected to more schemes than a soap opera marathon. The only thing that DIDN'T happen was a kidnapping, which honestly feels like an oversight. Peak melodrama, zero originality.
FINAL TAKE:
This was so close to being my perfect cup of problematic tea, but stumbled hard on the consent dynamics. The beginning was too forceful, she seemed unwilling, he seemed unbothered by that, and the whole vibe screamed "this isn't sexy, this is concerning." If the chemistry had been mutual and she'd been confident instead of scared, this would've been a top-tier spicy romance. Instead, it's a show with fantastic angst, tension, chaos, and heat... that I can't fully recommend because the foundation is built on some real icky "no but actually yes?" energy. Watch for the devoted ML and volcanic spice, skip if dubious consent kills your vibe.

Perfect for: People who can compartmentalize problematic beginnings for eventual devoted romance, spice enthusiasts with high tolerance for messy consent, anyone who likes their angst with extra chaos
Skip if: You need clear enthusiastic consent in your romance, "reluctant heroine + forceful hero" gives you the ick, you're tired of every female character being a villain

One can only wonder about the high rating

Things I liked

1 The premise or what I thought would be the premise. They didn't try too hard to make it work, did they? I can't fathom how this drama has such a high score. I'm probably missing something but I can't imagine what.

2 The ML. I'll have to split this between the actor and the character. The actor wasn't that bad. Yes, he didn't have a lot to base his acting, but he is handsome, even though in a classical way, and I want to believe that if the script was better he'd be better. I may be wrong though. That said, he's so handsome, it's easy to see why he got the role. Even if I don't like that kind of beauty it'd be hypocritical to not notice how handsome he is. And I want handsome ML in my rom coms.

Things I disliked

1 The script and the fact that the characters were never three dimensional. They are all like cardboard characters and unfortunately the actors don't have much to work with and not enough talent to work with the little they have.

2 The friends and the secondary cast. No one stood out for me and I had no one to root for.

3 The ML. I'll have to split this between the actor and the character. The character was so so and he had some questionable lines that made me cringe. He wasn't what I calla green flag. Not a red one either but in any case he wasn't what I want in a rom com.

4 Lack of chemistry between the leads. I didn't see any, although one or two kisses weren't that bad.

Things I hated

1 The FL. I just don't get it. Is she supposed to be smart? Because I didn't see that. I saw a stupid teenager who thought she was beautiful and smart and walked around with this belief written allover her face. I'll be honest, I think she's a terrible terrible actress. Add to it that I don't find her beautiful at all and you have me perplexed about why she was cast as the ML. What I get from her is the vibe: I'm beautiful and don't need anything else to get on in life. Not only the character but also he actress. I feel like the actress knows she's beautiful and acts like she's the princess everyone has to bow to. Like she knew she acted and never immersed herself into the character. Sorry if I'm mistaken, this is what she projected for me. The character wasn't special either. She was supposedly smart but she never really showed that.

If GMMTV wants GMMTV can

This is what happens when u actually put some money and thoughts into a project. Gmmtv delivered in a way I've geniunly haven't seen in a LOOOONG time.

The plot is extremely basic: a normal, almost "boring" photographer, Peach, meets a very "peculiar" mafia boss, obsessed over soap operas and with a clear lack of social awareness, and very simply they fall in love even through their substantial differences.

That's basically it. I know some people were disappointed in this, cause to be honest, there is no actual plot beside two people falling in love. No drama. No fight. No risks. However I think that, if done well, even no plot is a good plot. A great one even. And this is the case. Its just to people falling in love and building a life together, solving problems and misunderstandings, having to deal with their background and their own personal struggles to really love each other. I found that beautiful and very much needed. There was no unnecessary break up between them, no secrets. And I found that beautiful.

If there was one thing that I found highly useless was the whole Tatsuya storyline. He was there for... nothing? Usually those type of character serve some sort of growth for the protagonists but in this case it was not even that. I dont know what was the purpose fr. They could have just completely cut him out, and spend those time to better develope some plot

For example, they could have spent more time on TawanAran. Giving them the actual attention they deserved. I found their storyline so underrated, and that could have been WAY more. You know what I love more than a realistic depiction of a toxic relationship? THE TOXIC PART BEING ADDRESSED AND CONDEMNED. I know that gmmtv loves disney endings, and i am not against them going back together. Toxic relationships work exactly like this. But i wished they explained it better. They rushed their reconciliation so much that it left me mad. No person can change that much in so little time. Not even after what happened to Tawan. He never once apologized properly for how he treated Aran, which was the MAIN person he had to apologize to. If they gave the tatsuya storyline time to them it would have worked so good. BTW, I would have very much liked if they did NOT get back together, cause Tawan as a boyfriend was unbearable. OH! And i want to be honest. For everybody that said "yeah but Aran offering his body to Thee for Tawan is so out of charactert". NO ITS NOT. It just shows that him, the same person that was so adamant about his body and his self respect would go to such extreme lenght like selling himself for the person that besides everything he keeps loving, maybe even more than he loves himself.

On the contrary, unlike the absurd amount of people, I never complained nor seen a problem with RomeMohk lack of screentime. Honesty im glad they even got some. As much as people were hoping, nobody really knew if William was actually going to appear as Rome and the fact that he did was enought. I dont know if they will continue foward with a RomeMohk series (which would link perfectly with this one) but regardless i love how they left room for more and just gave me some more WilliamEst, for scientific reasons.

Peach and Thee were geniunly the two best main character I've seen in a while now.
If i see a single Peach hater im gonna lose my shit. Finally a character that is normal, like everyone. Finally a character that act and answer like I would. Everybody be making fun on Thee's speaking and his soap operas way of speaking when some bl character are even worst and more unrealistic. FINALLY SOMEONE PUTTING A "GET A GRIP" TO IT. Like, finally. He behave exactly like he should. I love him, I geniunly think he is the best BL character in history, like just goat material. Thee on the other hand is a complete scene stealer. Every single time he is in a scene you are just drawn to his extravagant mannerism, and you laugh. I really loved how over the top he was in comparison to how grounded was Peach. Complete opposite in that department. And maybe that's why they work so well as a couple, they make the other qualities shines. I just wanna point out the scene on the beach after their first kiss when Peach says "what you did- no what we did" cause honestly it left me flabbergasted how mature he sounded. Yeah

They, and all the character would have benefited from ONE and i mean just ONE more episode. Idk what happened to GMMtv and their absolute inability to choose which show needs 12 episodes and what can have just 10 episodes. With all due respect, they made We Are 16 episodes long (could have very much summarized in 10 ep) and made Me and Thee 10 ep when they clearly needed at least one more. Oh god.

Regardless. THE ACTOR CHOICE WAS TOP NOTCH. I was kinda skeptical, cause honestly PPW in we are were.... em.... not it, but they redeemed themselves so hard in this one. Someone said that Peach doesn't really show love or doesn't really look in love. Oh SHUT UP! the hell u expect for someone who had such a traumatic childhood. And Phuwin portrayed Peach so well. No I geniunly believe that those were the best performances from PondPhuwin. And I strongly believe that Phuwin needs more of those character cause he slays them so much, the quiet and very mature type. And their kisses were SO better than We Are, beside maybe the boat kiss, which i cannot really pin on them given how uncomfortable the setting was (even if it was BEAUTIFUL).

But the one that i really wanna give my flowers to is the production crew. You can tell they put MONEY in this project. One thing that let me geniunly shocked was how good the sound was. If u ever watched a single gmmtv show you will know that they have serious sound problems with their mic, especially in like water or beaches scenes, yet here they did so good. It never bothered me.
The soundtrack was good, but kinda repetitive. I feel like there were only like five songs on repeat, which is not bad, but maybe a bigger variety could have helped the vibe to set in a little better.

Visual wise it was very good. Not top tier level good, not "never let me go" level good, but good enough to be enjoyable and sometimes mesmerizing enough. I liked it, and honestly the colour scheme was very good (im very keen on color grading ecc ecc). The contrast between red and blue scenes throuout the show were geniunly good and i loved it. I loved how they dressed and gave a character through everyone style. They made them look AMAZING in the show, like LITERALLY AMAZING. I loved it.
There were some small but, well, everlasting, mistakes in the editing phase, which we are not major or bad like in other series, but they sometimes made the fluidity and continuity disappear, which is the only bad rhing production wise

Rewatch value to the sky, given that I've already rewatched it like more then once I keep rewatching its becoming embarrassing.

In conclusion: watch it. Or give it a try. Its a beautiful show, well produced, well acted, maybe a little rushed, given the amount of episodes they had but indeed amazing and funny, a good show that makes you unplug your brain for a bit and just enjoy love.

What Liao Ting Yan does not know is that her original identity in this world is a demonic assassin sent to kill him. What Sima Jiao does not expect is that the “assassin” now in front of him has zero ambition, zero malice, and an almost comical lack of desire. Thus begins an unlikely romance between a villainous immortal with a burning past and a healing type slacker who simply wants to nap, eat, and vibe her way through destiny.

Right from the start, this drama comes in hot. Humor, tension, and one extremely charismatic male lead set the tone early on. Yes, the first few episodes are heavy on information dumping, but oddly enough, I was never bored. The world building felt dense yet intriguing, like being handed a thick fantasy novel and realizing you actually want to read the footnotes. Once we dive into Sima Jiao’s past, the emotional core of the story ignites, and what follows is a romance that is sweet, heart fluttering, and deliciously tension filled.

Sima Jiao is the definition of powerful and notorious. As the last known member of the Jiao clan and the only one capable of containing the Spiritual Fire, his presence alone commands respect. He is said to have a cruel heart and a fiery temper, and on the surface, he does appear cold, arrogant, and edged with danger. But peel back that icy exterior and you find a man who endured childhood torture, blood drains, and five centuries of imprisonment. No wonder he is grumpy. Behind the mask of a ruthless killer is someone painfully human and surprisingly kind. I have a soft spot for tragic men, and Sima Jiao walked straight into that soft spot and set up permanent residence. Arthur Chen, also known as Chen Fei Yu, absolutely devours this role. His deep voice, controlled expressions, and imposing figure make Sima Jiao’s dark allure almost unfair. Every glance feels intentional. Every flicker of emotion hits. He turns Sima Jiao into one of those iconic characters you remember long after the drama ends.

Then we have Liao Ting Yan, or rather Zou Yan inside Liao Ting Yan. As a modern soul dropped into a high stakes cultivation world, she is hilariously relatable. Instead of plotting revenge or seizing power, she compares serving a murderous immortal to working a nine to five job. Honestly, same energy. Wang Ying Lu nails the modern girl trapped in xianxia chaos vibe. Her facial expressions alone scream “I did not sign up for this.” She starts off oblivious and more concerned about food and sleep than survival, but slowly grows into one of the most powerful figures in the story. Her character development is deeply satisfying. Watching her evolve from protected slacker to capable force of nature feels earned and organic.

And now, the main course: the chemistry. Sima Jiao and Liao Ting Yan go from master and servant to friends to lovers in a progression that feels natural and intoxicating. Their dynamic is electric. The intimacy is sensual without being overdone, tender without being cheesy. Chef’s kiss does not even begin to cover it. Their stolen glances and quiet moments together sometimes say more than entire monologues.

However, this is where my personal struggle begins. The plot spans multiple lifetimes, three or maybe four depending on how you count them, and after the first life and Liao Ting Yan’s supposed death, I felt my enthusiasm dip. Even if one of them retains their memories in the following lives, they still have to rebuild everything from scratch. Enemies or strangers to lovers, all over again. It became emotionally exhausting for me. Instead of anticipation, I felt fatigue. I tried to push through, but my motivation slowly fizzled out. That said, this is not a bad drama by any means. The visuals are often stunning, like beautifully painted scrolls brought to life, even if the CGI has its shaky moments. The supporting characters all serve clear purposes and add layers to the story rather than cluttering it. The drama’s biggest strength remains Sima Jiao and his blazing, almost combustible chemistry with Liao Ting Yan.

For now, I am putting this drama on hold. Not because it failed, but because it burned so intensely that I needed a breather. Maybe one day I will return to see how destiny continues to toy with these two star crossed souls. Until then, I will remember it as the drama that gave me a villainous immortal with a tragic past, a slacker heroine who weaponized indifference, and a romance that truly played with fire.

Transactional relationship with good camaraderie

I was in the mood for Wang Chen Peng's dramas after loving his recent drama with Bai Yan. This drama had been in my playlist since I also enjoy Li Ke Yi's acting. Overall I liked this drama.

What I liked:
1. Romance - It started off fake & transactional but I liked how it progressed into real romantic relationship. I liked that there was warmth from the start - FL & ML went into marriage of convenience without animosity.
2. FL's arc - She was daughter of a criminal & carried that stigma all her life. I liked how the arc was told. There was childhood connection between FL & ML.
3. ML's characterisation - I knew he had crush on her when he kept offering money for a task. However I didn't like ML forcing kiss on FL at the start of their relationship.
4. Supporting characters - I liked FL's friend & ML's assistant.
5. Acting - I liked the performance by Wang Chen Peng & Li Ke Yi. Good chemistry.

What I disliked:
1. Antagonist - ML's pursuer who was family friend and overstepped boundary. I also disliked ML's mother for disrespecting ML and FL.
2. Abuse - The abuse faced by FL was too much.

If not that we are in the world of fantasy, i would have made you yhe keepers of justice! Ley me just give all the cast a Kudos you truely deserve, all the cast here they truely did amezing job the acting is high level and they convincingly portrayed their characters as perfect can go.
I know that (after reading comments) some are complaining about the age gap ,to my surprise i didn't even notice that detail til i read comments , the FL actress is a good choice given how her character is written, kind of puzzled why is that a problem if her co
-star is younger? (Maybe it has a significance in Chinese culture)
And i also notice that the complaint about chemistry between the leads ,some saying it was not enough, i truely believe that it was well played on that part,given that the character of Xue Fang /Jiang Li is written, she come from : betrayal,from someone she loved deeply and she lost her dignity (the rape case) i think for her to carefully and slowly romantically approach to Duke Su is right.
For those who are complexed by The ex husband Shen You Long i couldn't find a way of feeling anything either for hom,i understand those who can feel sympathy maybe because of circumstance wich brought him to become who he become, but putting the whole blame of that psycho princess will not be right, the man chose to kill his wife,he become unhappy because of his choice he is solely to blame and Im glad they both ended up like that. The poetic justice in all this is that He lost all the happiness the minute he killed the person who loved him the most, and he killed the princess, to avenge the person he become desperately obsessed with after killing her. The princess ordered him to kill to obtain the love from him ,the love she never got no matter what she coul do or give him.
The tragic scene of Shen You Long ,carrying Xue and the princess downthe stairs looking at them is the poetic tragedy, and a grimm tale ,that nothing can buy love.
This is my take on this amezing series, the writers you did well , this willstat with me.

So overhyped

Things I liked

1 The premise. I don't mind repetitive themes and this one talked to me although it reminded me of Hallmark movies which I hate. It never delivered.

2 The ML. At first I loved him, the character and the actor. But then he fell in love with a stupid, mean, ugly person outside and inside and I lost every goodwill I had. Still, the actor did a good job.

Things I disliked

1 Most of the residents. Sad, unoriginal stories that one could come up while doing a million other things at the same time. No brain required. I don't think I found one who talked to me and for whom I cared. At first yes, but as the drama unfurled, my feelings changed for all of them. Obnoxious, nosy characters who think know better.

Things I hated

1 Usually I leave long reviews whether I like or dislike a drama, but this time I feel like it would be a waste of my time to honor this stupid drama with my detailed thoughts. So I'll just say that I hated the FL, he character and the acting. Now it's established that I think of her as an ugly actress, who looks ten years older, and has not the slightest talent. She always comes out as a mean, egotistical, know-it-all person who is never sympathetic. I made the mistake to start 3 series with her and I finished them, thank god, so I'll never have to see her again. Her only talent is to ruin every series she appears. It may sound harsh, but my gut tells me that the ugliness she infuses in her roles is her true self. I'm not sure what others see in her, but to each their own. The 3 is only for the ML. Otherwise it would be -20.

Nothing Burger of a show

I feel like the script writers did not know what they were trying to say in this series. It has so many directions in the plot and nothing truly develops into a fruit for the viewer to eat at the end. Acting saved it for sure, shin hae sun and lee jun hyuk did a stellar job not even surprised. The writer really wanted the main character to have a trump card in every single choice and it just bends whenever the lead needs it to for the lead to pull of the big con. The lead has the same old cheesy lines to justify themselves doing horrible things like bruh we get it so corny.

It is also a study in human ugliness. It is a story of how like-minded individuals, a hive mind if you will, (you will understand the reference) are all pawns to their worst instincts. In other words. The protagonists are the antagonists as well. Each has succumbed to their lowest common dominator which ironically is at the core of what made them successful. Is this counterintuitive? Oxymoronic? Yes, to both. This series is a masterclass in artistry, acting, and aesthetics. It is also a study in human ugliness. It is a story of how like-minded individuals, a hive mind if you will, (you will understand the reference) are all pawns to their worst instincts. In other words. All of them were so broken they were incapable of feeling anything even close to concepts called compassion or sincerity and therefore love. This is not a BL; it does not even come close to any definition of love. Kudos for making, producing, and acting in this one-of-a-kind dynamic series. One of my early choices for best series for 2026.
