i had high hopes for this kdrama
Like most people I saw those very relatable tiktok videos of this drama, had very high hopes of it being heavily crime and law related drama, how laws CAN protect the artist and agencies' can be very intolerable. But what did we get? Agencies pushing their artists to attend their schedules although mental heath is all over the place, a person is grieving their friend's death, threatening while reminding them that they are in fact in debt still that needs to be paid and so on, so that is a check, we got it in this drama which was very mindful.
Then we got sasaengs, deathly obsessive people, so check.
Then we didn't get a lot of romance which honestly was a good choice by the makers, but we did in fact get the "fans" being very obsessive over their idols and dating.
Crime plot was a bit meh, but it wasn't too bad of an idea, just a bit shabby.
Lastly, the leads are actually good actors and in my opinion had more chemistry behind the scenes:)

Interesting Concept, But Didn't Live Up to the Hype
I went into this drama with high expectations because the comments were praising it so much, but unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed. While the storyline was definitely interesting, the execution just didn't hit the mark for me. It was an "okay" watch, but it never reached that "wow" factor I was looking for.The Atmosphere The village setting is undeniably crazy, and it was interesting to see the mystery of the community evolve. The sense of dread was there, but it wasn't enough to make the drama feel "great" in my eyes.
The Execution & Ending The biggest letdown for me was how it finished. It ended on a cliffhanger that basically demands a second season to get any real answers. I find it frustrating when a show doesn't feel complete on its own, and honestly, I don't think I’ll be tuning in for the next season.
Final Verdict: It’s a decent watch if you like creepy village mysteries, but the pacing and the incomplete ending left me feeling underwhelmed. It had potential, but it didn't live up to the praise I saw online.

LOTS OF SPOILERS I created an account just to write this review because I’ve never been this angry at a drama before.
First, the summary is outright misleading. It claims the female lead leaves a marriage of convenience “with the help of Jiang Chang Yang.” That “help” is dragged across five episodes, even then, she doesn’t truly leave. It’s handled through repeated plot devices. The marriage issue isn’t fully resolved until episode 21. And the concluded marriage is resolved ridiculously.
The summary also says they “establish a flower shop together.” This is false. The female lead does all the work: managing the shop, hiring workers, handling conflicts. The male lead contributes only money, yet takes 90% of the profits while also being her landlord. He’s an investor, not a partner.
The drama heavily markets itself as feminist, yet completely undermines that message. Despite portraying a capable, intelligent female lead (often compared to Ming Lan), the story ultimately forces her into becoming concubine at the end. If you were recommended this show because of you enjoyed the story of Ming lan. Don’t waste your time. Unlike Ming Lan—who refused concubinage despite being born to one in a officials family—the female lead here is a merchant’s daughter (nobles looked down on business owners because they are seen as dishonest in historical times), previously a legitimate wife, and still ends up accepting concubine status. This decision contradicts everything the story claims to stand for.
The male lead repeatedly fails to appear when needed. I understand establishing the female leads independence from male lead but this is too much. When he pressures her in-laws to divorce her, he leaves before the process is finalized—something the female lead herself points out. That delay directly leads to further abuse. When her in-laws later force her into slavery, he is again nowhere to be found. This happens repeatedly: whenever she’s in danger, he conveniently disappears, all to push the plot forward. To show her independence, capability, and intelligence.
The final insult comes near the end. After becoming a slave, the female lead offends the county princess again with her existence and faces possible death. The solution? Make her a concubine—because officials can’t marry slaves. This could have been easily avoided if the male lead had removed her indenture and given her a household registration, which the female lead even suggests. He dismisses it—so the plot can force concubinage.
The drama also contradicts itself morally. The female lead rejects two men who offer to make her a concubine stating it’s the only way to save her after becoming a slave. She stands firm on independence stating they think becoming a concubine is the only way to sustain herself but accepts it when the male lead does the same. After repeatedly surviving on her own and refusing to rely on men, this choice feels forced and hollow.
What makes this worse is that their relationship has almost no romance: no kiss, no real emotional development, just banter. She accepts concubinage thinking it’s temporary because they aren’t even in love. This happens in episode 29 of 32. I researched and from what I gathered Season 2 doesn’t improve either. Her status remains the same, and the romance development is dragged.
This show promised a story about a woman escaping abuse, building success, and redefining independence. Instead, it dismantles its own message through lazy plot devices and a deeply disappointing ending.
I wasted 29 episodes and two days off work on this. Show is overall a 5/10 only because it kept me watching it for so long. If you value your time or expect real feminist storytelling who stays true to her principals, don’t watch this drama. It’s my fault for not researching this drama before watching it. I read a fan post comparing Ming Lan to Mu Dan and I blindly invested time into this show.
Maybe I’m biased because I hate the concubine trope. In my favorite drama, Are You The One, the female lead tells the male lead if he truly loves her he would never ask her to accept the role of a mere concubine. If you’re someone looking for a smart female lead, businesswoman, independence, smart male lead, and feminism. That’s the drama for you. The male lead had to grovel for 10 episodes before she accepts to be his principled wife.
I would even recommend Nothing Gold Can Stay. And that’s pushing it. If you’re truly looking for a smart businesswoman. That drama is 74 episodes of trauma. Secondary name by fans, “No Man Can Stay”. Based on a real woman by the way. ZHOU YING.
Edit: I went back to watch it the last few episodes. Why did this man set her free but still keep her as a concubine????

“A Gentle Cure for a Condition That Was Never a Disease”
❄️☕Why I Went In With Caution:Before diving deep into my review, let me make this clear first—just in case it causes any misunderstanding later. I absolutely loved this drama 🤍 It came to me like a warm hug during the cold January winter. I didn’t have high expectations, especially considering the recent state of K-dramas… they don’t really feel like K-dramas anymore. Honestly, 2025 hasn’t been a great year for them so far. Right from the start, projects like When the Stars Gossip felt like a premonition of what was ahead.
❄️☕Why This Drama Still Surprised Me
This one genuinely surprised me by bringing the healing K-drama vibe back. I love Seo Hyun-jin—I’ve followed her work for a long time. Yet, ironically, over the past few years I ended up dropping three of her dramas midway: Why Her, You Are My Spring, and The Trunk. All three had storylines I loved and had waited ages for, but for various reasons, I couldn’t finish them.
I’ve also seen many loneliness-themed, dysfunctional family dramas lose their way or turn oddly messy. As someone who loves this genre, it often becomes painful to continue. This, however, was a decent one after a long time.
Watching dramas at the pace I once did has taken a toll on me. Consuming so many shows in such a short span has aged me—both physically and mentally—as a viewer. I get tired easily now, can’t binge 16–40 hours straight, and end up dropping far more dramas than I used to. Mentally, I’ve seen so many tropes and complex plots that very little amazes me anymore. Finding a drama that truly surprises me has become rare.
❄️☕Why Finishing This Drama Actually Matters:
So the fact that I completed this one says a lot. I watched nearly 90% of it at 1x speed instead of my usual 2x, binged it in two days, didn’t skip scenes, and even rewound several moments to watch them again. That alone feels like a personal achievement.
While the content, storyline, characters, themes, pacing, and presentation were all right up my alley, I won’t shy away from voicing the questions and critiques that kept circling in my head throughout the show.
❄️☕What the Drama Does Beautifully With Loneliness
This drama really is like a hug—a cup of warm tea on a snowy evening. Especially when you’re sad, broken, alone… or even when you’re not. It explores loneliness so quietly, and the image of Jin-kyung sitting alone in her dark living room, silently watching TV, comes back again and again. It feels so familiar—like the everyday reality of so many office-working people now.
That depiction alone is comforting. It reminds you that you’re not the only one living like this, not the only one feeling this kind of emptiness. There’s something reassuring in knowing that someone out there understands your loneliness and portrays it so bare and raw.
It feels like a gentle pat on the back, like someone saying, “It’s okay.” That in one way or another, we’re all alone—and that someone, somewhere, knows it and empathises.
It comforts you with the idea of your “pair” waiting somewhere in this world, the importance of human connection and companionship. Because even when we say it’s okay to feel lonely, we often need someone beside us to say it out loud. And as Won-yeong once said, we can pretend in daylight—but in the darkness of night, it becomes painfully clear how deeply loneliness engulfs us, how impossible it is to ignore.
❄️☕Where My Discomfort Begins: Loneliness as a “Problem”:
Still, I kept questioning whether the drama exaggerated loneliness as something inherently tragic or defective. For me it felt less like loneliness itself was the issue and more like Jin-kyung’s relationship with it. Her pain didn’t come from being alone, but from the guilt—or maybe the shame—attached to it.
❄️☕The Idea of “Your Person” — Comforting or Limiting?:
The narrative leans into a comforting, yet slightly delusional idea: that everyone will eventually find their “pair,” someone who enters their life and suddenly lights everything up. But real life doesn’t always work that way. Many people live lives that are not just decent, but deeply fulfilling, without a romantic partner. Happiness isn’t a locked room waiting for the right person to hand you the key.
❄️☕Solitude, Shame, and the Industry’s Subtle Messaging:
It made me wonder—do we really need to become “brighter” just because someone arrives? And who decided that being bright, by some external standard, was even necessary? Solitude doesn’t automatically mean darkness. Sometimes it’s just quiet. Sometimes it’s expansive. Sometimes it’s even freeing.
Loneliness, like anything else, becomes harmful only in excess or when it turns into shame. The problem isn’t being alone—it’s being taught that you shouldn’t be.
At one point, I even wondered if the industry promotes romantic companionship the way luxury brands market themselves—so intensely that people start seeing it as a need rather than a want, and feel ashamed for not possessing it.
Of course, it is a story. It requires these elements. I know it’s not presenting an ideal, but rather a story of imperfection.
❄️☕Accepting the Story for What It Is:
However in the end, whatever the idea was, it was presented beautifully. Wrapped up so gently that most of my earlier questions and criticisms quietly dissolved. My anxious brain calmed down and humbly bent down to embrace the conclusion, almost as if the drama had followed my train of thought and decided to answer it in its own way.
Jin Kyung says towards the end:
"Happiness is quiet.
Misery is loud.
In that sense, maybe happiness is a lot like loneliness—
different in shape, color, and size for each of us.
The loneliness we all feel is different, but if you trace it back to its source, they say you’ll find love at the very end. When you crave something you can’t have, when you’re left waiting, that emptiness turns into loneliness.
Seen that way, maybe being lonely isn’t so bad after all.
It just hasn’t been fulfilled yet—and at the very least, it proves how much love still exists in my heart."

I'm still waiting for some answers though..
They finally did it. Finally made a series that is good and good to watch. Until now, it's been a mixed bag of mostly disappointments, but they finally got some things right and to this point, I surprise myself by saying that. Thirteen episodes, and I'm still surprised that it was solid until the end, no mid-season mishaps or last minute letdowns. For the most part.Goddess Bless you from Death was, from the beginning, very promising. Especially for someone who has not specifically enjoyed many Change2561 productions. I watched the first couple of episodes and thought, "yeah, I see this going somewhere". And it actually did? (It did!)
Let's start by talking about the story. This one is confusing AF. They did themselves no favor by not releasing an episode for a couple of weeks, because the sheer amount of details in the plot were lost on me as I watched it weekly and I had to have many notes and discussions to get a conclusive idea of the plot. This happened for thirteen episodes.
Which is my roundabout style of saying, this was a really good plot, executed in a very confusing way.
Yes, it's easy to guess half of the narrative before the crime solvers of the case can wrap their brains around it, but the ability to see clues that the characters can't is integral for a mystery. How else can we yell at the screen about them not noticing the tiniest of details?
At the same time, the other half comes not as a complete shock, but as the payoff for good storytelling. I've come to the conclusion that there is no mystery without a few loose ends, and that's okay. What's important is that the story moves forward logically, and well. It did.
Now coming to the characters. They are likeable. Not all of the time. Some of them, almost not at all, but the thing with thrillers are, you know immediately who you want to root for in some stories. This is one such, and it can mean that character depth or complexities are a zero, but thankfully we get character growth, and a lot of people who are likeable from the get go.
Finally, combining three or more genres, it's very easy to lose track of one or more of them in favour of giving just one genre preference. Which could have easily happened here, but the balance was always there. They could've completely leaned into the thriller/mystery genre by making this about the serial killings, I in fact thought they should at one point! I'm happy to admit I was wrong. They also had enough material to make this a full horror series, but they chose to stick with the combination of genres, and it worked so well!
But of course, if the records are to be believed, this could have so easily become just a romance, but thank you writers, thank you for writing it like you did. Because in real life, under no circumstances, must you date a person you are investigating, but here? You can't help but root for Singha and Thup. For me, it was because it felt realistic. The relationship did not seemed forced, nor did it feel overwhelming. Certainly, there were moments where I wanted to yell at them both for being lovestruck idiots investigating a high profile case, yet, the romantic in me just shushed those thoughts.
Pavel and Pooh actually did a lot to help with making their characters that appealing. All the actors actually did a good job, they got the job done and well.
But the critic in me, unfortunately was also very critical of this series. I didn't want to be, but when something is good, you expect it to be perfect, which it unfortunately wasn't. Mostly the story. Tons and tons of plot holes appeared as they were setting up the story and I kept thinking they'll resolve it with during some big moment - but that moment never came? Keep in mind that I understood a lot of the story thanks to talking about it with others also watching, if not, I would never have connected those dots.
And even more dissapointing was the fact that we never get an explanation to half the things I wanted answers to. There should have been after all that build up.
I would absolutely recommend this one if you're looking for a series with mystery, horror and romance. It is quite scary though, so if you don't do well with horror, proceed with caution. But it is a good addition to the group that already combines the three genres, so go for it!

New plot and decent acting.
I watched this because Yi Hang and the plot was quite new the reborn ML x transmigrated FL. Guo Xin Yu is perfect for this role, working class FL who trapped in ancient time. The costumes, makeup, and props are excellent. Even the supporting casts doing great job too. It's a sweet and angsty story with a happy ending. In her past life, the original FL conspired with the ML's mother, the Empress Dowager, and his younger brother, the Regent, to poison him, helping the Regent seize the throne. ML vowed never to be so compassionate again and was reborn.
New FL is a medical master's student, transmigrates into the novel, wanting to protect the kind-hearted ML. However, she encounters the newly reborn ML at the beginning, and her beloved becomes a tyrant, starting a hellish survival mode. FL has to juggle both the ML and the Empress Dowager, barely surviving. Fortunately, FL is smart, quickly deducing that the ML is a reincarnated person. The process ML gradually falling in love with the FL doesn't feel abrupt. The moment i like from this drama is about FL and her father, Prime Minister was really touching,
However, the later parts are a bit forced to add the duration and the kissing scenes are below average and the chemistry between the main leads are barely minimum.
Still decent watch.

So much shouting
Things I liked1 The premise. It's perfect for a fluffy, witty rom com. So many things could go right with such a premise and yet... I'll be honest, I thought at first that this would be a 10. I thought the shouting would stop after a few episodes. That the toxicity would turn to fluffy and humorous interactions. No chance, it stayed awful until the very end.
Things I disliked
1 The FL character. The actress is beautiful and I believe she can act, but her character is so passive and pushover I had to roll my eyes a million times. Who the hell thought it was interesting to make her so weak? Even when she rebels, it never lasts and she goes back to that stupid side of her who accepts everything from people who are there to abuse her. What the hell is wrong with the scriptwriter?
Things I hated
1 The ML. Maybe he's a good actor and a good person. I couldn't say after watching that shouting contest. I've never seen someone shout so much. I have a headache just hearing him shout, imagine having to act this way. Why the hell didn't he play the character in a more decent, believable way? No one in real life talks this way. I blame the director more of course, but still, the actor should take some responsibility for this mess.
2 The ML's family. What a toxic bunch of people and especially the grandmother. Thank God my grandma was a warm, not judging person who taught me to be myself.
3 The so-called friends. Not only they were awful finds but the actors did a lousy job. The characters were so over the top that I had to sigh a million times before watching another scene with them. But the actors made things even worse with their stupid and over the top acting. Awful people and actors.
4 The 2ML. Oh Gosh, am I supposed to like that awful person? Either that year actors didn't know how to act either the cast director did a lousy job. I think he's unattractive and untalented. He should disappear into thin air with the 2FL and never get in front of my screen again. Hated them both.
5 The FL. What an ugly character and lousy actress. Every line she said was like she auditioned in a school play for the more untalented actor. She wins hands down by the way. Her character was one of he worst over. So manipulative, dishonest, ugly.

A journey from pain to healing and love
The first episodes feel heavy and angsty, but that’s part of the plot. It was important to the story, and I actually enjoyed watching that part too. Eventually, it turned fluffy and cute. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the hidden identity trope lingering for a while, overall I liked the show. The cast is so likeable, and there are several butterfly moments that make you go “awww.”
The final impression (the ending) was satisfying as well. I definitely recommend it.

My favorite couple in the fourever series
I watched 1st 2 episodes of ths drama and later i read the novel cz i was too curious about their story. I think until episode 6 they were pretty inline with the novel but they changed the story a bit in ep 7 and 8. I would say the novel was much better but this was really good too. It did justice to the novel. I really loved both Phoon and Fah. Crave for a gang like Phoon's 🥺. Love the supportive bestie. But I'd have liked it even more if they chose the novel ending for the dad (they made it kinda legal here) n also i wanted to see the whole gang going to japan with phoon to meet his mom and the funny interaction between north and Phoon's brother. But for an 8 episode adaptation they did really well. I also liked that they clearly separated all the stories like P10L unlike fourever season 1 where they mixed both the stories. This makes it easier to watch and i prefer it this wayWas this review helpful to you?

interpretation of Zichu not letting Haolan see him before his death by Cindy Lu
Let's be honest, Zichu and Haolan are both very intelligent and cunning people with the ability to set aside their emotions, be cold-blooded, and even manipulate others when the situation calls for it. This is what Zichu loved about her. He knew she was the only woman who could match his level of intelligence and cunningness. First in Zhao when he was a hostage, he knew he needed a smart wife who could help him survive in a foreign country and then in Qin he knew his queen needed to be someone smart enough to help him defeat his enemies and protect his homebase. Like he tells Lubuwei before his death, he isn't averse to using Haolan to achieve his goals. However, there's a bit of insecurity in Zichu. He's aware that Haolan can do better than him, that other men would be willing to give her his entire heart while Zichu isn't and part of him is worried that seeing how smart Haolan is, what if one day she realizes what a jack*ss he is and finds a new lover. This combines with the his narcissistic side to emotionally manipulate Haolan into never finding closure and thus never being able to get over him. He wants his existence to transcend death and pervade her life even after he is gone. (quick note this is also evident in his desire to leave the legacy of being the emperor who paves the way for the Qin to invade the rest of China). Therefore, Zichu never fully loved Haolan. He only loved himself and the benefits being with Haolan would bring. Haolan on the other hand is different. She has a heart. You can see throughout the show that there's this narrative of females in powerful positions yet still being used and trampled on by men. While one may see this as a sexist portrayal of women, I have mixed feelings about that. Haolan can do everything Zichu and Lubuwei do. She could pursue power and she could use it to abuse other people, but she doesn't. She doesn't want to and I think that makes her stronger and more powerful than all the strong male characters we see. She's not imprisoned by the thrall of power and the fact that she still ends up extremely powerful is the ultimate flex. Although I do have to say, it is rather disappointing that EVERY single male fell into the gender stereotype of "ambitions over women" and ALL the women were controlled by men to some extent (even Haolan), so this is why I can see there being moments where the show is trying to break gender tropes and also moments when they fall back into it. Coodles to you if you read this whole thing, dang this is long. Was this review helpful to you?

This CP has hatred vibe between each other.
I watched this on last year. Actually the plot was fine, but Feng Ming Chao and Zhang Ruo Chen mutual dislike on-screen was obviously shown on entire drama. Zhang Ruochen really can't shed a single tear, there is no emotional on her sad scene. I simply couldn't stand the her acting. Feng Ming Chao is usually good at kissing, but this kiss felt so weak; it feels like a loveless couple. The chemistry between them were very cold. The wedding scene was obvious one where ML face looks too stern. I wont recommend this drama to anyone. Was this review helpful to you?

Six Years Later This Drama Still Resonates with Me
The Heiress was one of the first idol C dramas I ever watched. I enjoyed this drama tremendously up until the ending, and I’m sure most people will agree it was a really good watch right up until then. I was truly rooting for a happy ending, and while I can understand why she left since the Prince was pretty toxic, my shipper heart was still low-key hoping it would work out.Una You is one of the few female actresses who is actually quite adept at playing a gender-bending role, and she was very believable to me. I thought the story and overall setup were solid. The costumes were absolutely beautiful. The wedding gowns in particular were pure eye candy, and the OST was memorable.
It’s a shame that with so much going for it, the drama ended so horribly. Even so, I wouldn’t be averse to a season two. But honestly, the ride itself was fun for me. This drama still resonates with me six years later, so I’d definitely say it’s worth a watch.

good drama!!!
This drama is underrated. If you enjoy serial killers, cop dramas, or team-based cop shows, you should watch this. It is a little slow, but it is not a bad drama. The acting is good, the storyline is clear, and it has a proper ending as well.Although they don't have forensic details like a lot of famous shows, it is worth watching. It is more of a cop based show.

8.5 That's unexpected. Did I watch the same drama?
Things I loved1 The actor who played the ML. Gorgeous and I'd love to watch other dramas with him to see if he's talented because here there was no room for him to show his talent.
Things I liked
1 The premise. I thought it was interesting so I was even more disappointed after watching it.
Things I disliked
1 The FL. She's cute, but she doesn't know how to act. Or if she does she couldn't show it here.
2 The character of the FL. So boring, so one dimensional, so fake. I mean it was like she was 12 years old. For God's sake if you want to play cute, play it like Esther Yu, without any holding back and let people criticize you all they want. Don't play a young woman of 22 as if she were 12. It's unsettling and it ruined the drama for me.
Things I hated
1 The whole slow and boring without anything happening. I'm all in for anything fluffy and cheesy, but not when it's boring as hell and doesn't make any sense. I'm not even sure why the ML was in love with her. Anyway, it started well and went south just after one episode. I gave it 8 and I'll never get back that time. I gave it 3 just for some side characters.
