Ended 2025 and started 2026 with a modern drama that will set the standards high.
I’m short of words to describe this masterpiece, the cast 10/10. Everyone came and cleared their individual roles, a well executed dynamic between unrequited love and finding love again. Nie xiguang moving from zhuang xu to Lin yusen just made something clear, if you’re not getting the love you deserve never ever blame yourself, you are special and you deserve love, to avoid ruining so many aspects of your life go for someone who treats you like you deserve, see love is shown as what it should be, a two way street. A give and take. Zhuang xu was looking for Santa in xiguang, which she wasn’t.Career focus, this was highlighted so well, two people in love but still being able to flourish excellently in their individual career paths.
Family ties and relationships between parents and children.
Over all Gu man and the entire cast did their big thing here. I’m afraid it will be difficult for any modern drama to cross this threshold, but we will be expectant.

Wish they didn't add hidden troupe
Okay I watch watching this because of Lu Lulu and not familiar with Xi Erli. I give my try to watch this and well it was worth watching but not to level to make you gasped. The chemistry was okay and actual the first part until the middle was engaging after hidden troupe it feel dragged, unnecessary and it become common trait in short drama.ML was perfect as military man-the stoic term i related since my close friend is like him. I like the how the romance bulit about stranger to lovers. FL just want to save her grace since she catch her scumbag fiance having affair with her best friend and randomly choose ML as her backup partner. Suprisingly ML agree since he was smitten and they got married after that.
Decent Watch though.

it's Temu Goblin.
This is by far writer Kim Eun Sook's sloppiest work until now & yet the drama is still enjoyable. To elaborate a bit more on the script, I think they wanted to make a Goblin-like fantasy show & so the writer made a similar framework for a drama that is different enough. Personally I find nothing much wrong with this. A 1000 year romance with some flashbacks & an endless opportunity for corrupting wish stories -instead of ghost stories- could've easily lead to the drama of the year, or the second best at least. The problem is that the show is really not written consistently at all, the writer's self established rules are not respected, often not even within the same episode & the finish is very variety show like in the sense that there were a great many fun skits, but none of the plot makes sense, like at all. Also the Arabic theme is really poorly researched & feels super forced. I don't give a flying monkfish about the religious connotations, but the whole Goryeo Koreans in Arabia felt incredible weird to me, what is even more forced? Korean actors speaking Arabian & doing that a lot. I really don't know why the writer couldn't just come up with a Korean version of the genie myth, or just call genies genies, but don't explain AT ALL what they are in Korea, that would've worked too. Correction, I do know why this happened, probably there may have been a sponsorship deal with the Emirates or something similar..
The most nonsensical part of the show is FL's condition, psychopath or sociopath? or whatever else, the basic concept that she does not have emotions at all is super silly & quickly full of contradiction.
Self-censorship always bothered me in Korean dramas, there are certain themes that cannot be shown on Korean TV & this often leads to really annoying & stupid subplots. In Genie, Make a Wish this manifests in how it's possible for a foreigner to wish for endless riches, but a Korean person cannot do the same & even if they kind of do, they still have to obsessively return the money. In this drama money is returned at least 3 times, though "only" twice voluntarily.
Anyway despite all of the above why is this still a 7?
Well, basically the casting is brilliant, the visuals and the photography are also amazing & the drama is just very funny in general. So if someone is capable of shutting off their brain a A LOT, then I can totally see them loving this. Suzy is not only incredibly gorgeous in this one, but also had great chemistry with Woo Bin & their constant bickering is endless fun. I would watch a 200 episode long sitcom where these actors play an old married couple..

Love, Simply and Beautifully Told
Shine On Me is a drama that feels remarkably precise in its execution. The storytelling is focused and efficient, with a brisk pace that avoids unnecessary detours. Conflicts are introduced clearly and resolved decisively, keeping the narrative momentum intact rather than dragging it out for artificial tension. The background music is especially well-placed, enhancing the emotional texture of key scenes without overwhelming them. It adds depth and appeal, helping shape the atmosphere and emotional beats naturally.
Overall, the drama plays almost like a curated highlight reel of Nie Xiguang and Lin Yusen’s relationship—capturing the essential moments of how they fall in love with clarity and intention. It’s a tightly constructed romance that knows exactly what story it wants to tell and respects the audience’s time in telling it.

Storyline seems to be a combo/ copy of movies "My Fault" and "Fast and Furious" "
This storyline is not very original as it appears to be a copy from the very popular drama "My Fault" in which, mother father divorced, mother married a rich guy and takes her teenage daughter to live with her and the rich stepfather also has a son same age as stepsister. Bad boy step brother is heavily into illegal car racing, young, parties, fighting etc. Hot stepsister and hot stepbrother fall in love, (not blood relatives either) heavy love scenes, parties. fight club scenes. Even the stepsister' s father figure is the same, a burned out race car driver who taught his daughter how to race, pretty much the same storyline. And the rest of this story is from "Fast and Furious" major competition and lots of car races, etc. So..,at least 80% of the story is cut and pasted from above movies.
I also found the story development pretty slow and boring in some places. I give it a 8 based on the perfect casting, great chemistry between ML and FL. I loved most of the wardrobe and styles of both male and female characters except the FL wedding dress in the end that was pretty ugly. Great job production crew and all the actors. Loved the music

Ambition, intrigue, and love, all woven together in an incredible script.
Two ambitious, cunning, and intelligent characters, Lu Jianglai and Rong Shanbao, star in this amazing series. They love each other, but they do not forget their careers and responsibilities. They are independent and stubborn, rebelling against expectations: Jianglai fights corruption and seeks justice, while Shanbao wants to run the plantation her way. They admire each other.Hou Minghao plays Lu Jianglai and once again surprises me with his talent and versatility. He can be ruthless or act like a spoiled brat; he is equally convincing in both roles. Guli Nazha is also fantastic as Shanbao. There is great on-screen chemistry between them.
The script and direction are superb. A captivating series.

the best thing I did is watch this show single *sobs*
I will stand by Xifan no matter how many haters she has. I connected to her feelings throughout the show and sobbed when she did. I love Suye and do appreciate how he grew from his flaws. The "secondary" couple was very underbaked, but I know the show is way more focused on the main couple instead. I adored all the cute moments and loved the cozy atmosphere. That wedding was also one of the prettiest ones I have seen so far (might take inspiration for my own hehe). <3Was this review helpful to you?
Cherry suffered a lot while chasing after Jiang Qiao, but despite everything, they still found their way to each other. Ling He perfectly portrayed Jiang Qiao's difficult period in life. His character had his own reasons for doing what he did, and his childhood was challenging, so it's understandable that he didn't want to involve Cherry in all of this. But it was so hard for Cherry during this period, she was completely in the dark.
The ending is beautiful and happy, but it would have been nice to have one more episode to show more happy moments.
I really enjoyed the friendship between the characters, they always stuck together and supported each other!

My first cdrama for 2026 and its a 10000000000000000/10 for me ??
#ShineOnMe goes beyond the typical slow-burn drama. Their love story is incredibly special to me because I have always been drawn to calm, gentle, steady, and unwavering type of love. The kind of drama you can return to when the world feels too heavy, like the warmest blanket in the coldest winter. Its a story that gently reminds you to believe in love again, one that gives you the courage to stand up once more, not just for love but also for your dreams.
Xiguang and Yusen’s story is built on mutual respect, patience, endless support, and sincere love. There are no demands and nothing is rushed, just something that quietly grows over time. The kind of love that softly shines. This drama may be simple, but it has left the deepest impact on my life.
The past two weeks felt like a fever dream—it went by so fast, yet every moment stayed with me. And now, as this chapter gently comes to a close, their story remains deeply embedded in my heart. Thank you for making #ShineOnMe such a beautiful and unforgettable experience. I will always treasure every moment I shared with all of you 🩷🌸
Thank You #SongWeilong & #ZhaoJinmai for being our Lin Yusen and Nie Xiguang 🌳🍉
I will miss you so much my 4951 cp ❤️🩹

An Emotional Story
Here is my review on Mysterious lotus Casebook. and no im not breaking down the whole story Im just stating what I love about it.I dont have a lot to say but here it is.
For me this show is very good and it has many funny and dark moments.
I love the trio Li lianhua, Feng Duobing, and Di feisheng. They went through so much together and it was fun watching the whole story.
I watched this when it first came out and I just rewatched it again and the ending still pains me. I wish li lianhua couldve lived but hey it still was a good ending for his character. I’ll always rewatch in the future.

So smooth, heartwarming and overall brilliant drama
I like the way the drama starts at first with the girl narrating the story of her two friends to her bf, that was so creative and had warming vibe. The story with damien and hayden was short simple but i wanted to see more of them whereas the story between Kelvin and Archie was the common yet mesmerizing storyline i felt. Tho it has been shown everything so easily in the drama between kelvin and Archie but actually in reality it's way more hard and brutal sometimes.
Overall i felt a vibe and wanted the series obv to be long and with more eps and yes pls don't forget to start the series with the ep0 coz that's where it all begins. A MUST WATCHH!!

Every meeting means there will be a parting
Time-travel stories are always tricky, especially if you have, like here, several "travels" back or forth in time. Not only needs the fictional world keep its own internal logic -- who knows what, what has influence on what and so on -- there's also the question of whether to explore "timelines" and "alternative realities" and all the technicalities that come with time travel. "Absolute Zero" does this relatively well, by making the time travel a magical one (implicating that there are unknown forces at work) and not attempting to explain how it all works. Some questions remain a bit unclear, especially the "Where did it all begin?" and why the third time someone travelled worked differently than the other two.But overall, the story is quite obviously not about the logistics, it's much more about meetings and partings, love and loss, and the hope to meet each other again.
The drama also caught one of my weaknesses: I love it when the same part of a story gets re-told from different perspectives or when it explores a "What if this one thing is changed?". "Absolute Zero" has both, so the cast and crew would have had to do a lot of things wrong for me to not like it.
I loved quite a few more aspects. What hooked me in the first episode was the use of colour and light; I also loved the sets which looked both cozy and down-to-earth. I liked that the story takes its time to explore the emotions, even if that made the pace quite slow. The pace and the way it is filmed, combined with the surprisingly high acting quality, took me in, and I cried with the characters when they cried, I hoped with them, I laughed with them. But really, there was a lot of crying -- in the end, "every meeting means there will be a parting" (paraphrased from the DVD shop grandfather).
One thing I wasn't so sure about right after watching, was whether I liked that it's not quite clear if this universe is a deterministic one, i.e. if everything is fixed and unchangeable. The first two thirds make it seem like it is -- but then, the ending seems to imply that it's not, that the writer wants us to know that with determination, we can change our fate. But it's also not made explicit, so maybe it was their fate to end up like they did?
After a night of sleeping over it, I now believe that it's a good thing -- that the author doesn't make a clear decision made me question my own stance on it. Would I like to think that these two men are "soulmates", destined to find and love each other no matter what? Do I want to think that the universe wanted to help them? Or do I want to believe that it was their own strong desire that overcame their pre-written destiny, that only with their sacrifices were they able to overcome their previous destiny?
I love it when a story can make me think.
That said, not everything was great. There are some (minor) aspects that could have been better, many of them would be major spoilers, but I can give you some non-spoilery examples:
* I think the drama could have been tightened up in places. Not by much -- because I do think that we needed the time to explore the characters and their dynamics, as well as their developing emotions -- but maybe by two or three episodes.
* I would have been nice to learn more about adult!Ongsa before the first time-travel. I think it would have made the diferences between teen!Ongas and adult!Ongsa clearer, as well as the difference between pre-story!Ongsa and post-story!Ongsa. This would have also had the effect to have more material for flashbacks, so it's even more obvious that Soon loves both the 18-year-old that Ongsa was and the adult Ongsa he will be in equal measures.
* More variety in the music and its use would have been good. I could predict when which kind of music (a capella, non-verbal vocalisations or instrumental) would be used down to the second. It was also always the same music. So, that got on my nerves by episode 9 or 10.
But these are really minor criticisms -- the drama did well in taking me through an emotional journey, and after finishing it, I felt both full and empty, which is one of the best outcomes for this kind of story.
Was it good?
It was, for the most part. The internal logic worked, and I liked that there were things left unanswered in the end. Actors were excellent in making me feel with their characters, which is essential for a character-driven story.
Did I like it?
Yes! I loved it, even with its flaws. It hit a favourite way of mine for story telling, so I am positively biased.
Who would I recommend it to?
To those who love soulmate fics, who love stories about yearning and the pain of loss. To those who can get on with slow-paced dramas.

Below mediocre.
I need to make disclaimer i love Zhang Chuxuan specifically when she play on revenge tale but this drama is not for me and her characterization is weak compare to here same theme drama. I have seen other version with less common name and it has decent plot and better characterization for main leads. I don't like Zhan Zhuo in here, his acting is below mediocre. They didn't have chemistry despite the kisses scene is many for Zhang Chuxuan level. It feels like watching dead fish kisses. Avoid and watch another Zhang Chuxuan drama instead. Was this review helpful to you?
