Surprisingly a really good watch! Satisfying despite being short.

Just stumbled upon this on my Youtube homepage and I didn't regret any second of it. All actors did their characters well (all are pretty too!) and I'm glad that they fully understood it's just a 30-minute BL – they did not stretch this with unnecessary side plots and characters. It's well-paced too and covered a short timeline, no ambitious time jumps or childhood backstory checks, just 2 strangers falling in love and all other plot points were integrated quite well in narration and lines of all four characters.

It's a cute, light, and fun watch. 11/10 recommended if you're looking for something fun to watch before sleeping.

Soundtrack was a bonus!

The Jiang Ci Rule: A RANT

There is a special spot in hell reserved for this drama.

The only way that this drama can possibly work is if you imagine that it takes place in an alternate universe that completely revolves around one person - Jiang Ci. Everyone lives for Jiang Ci, everyone’s happiness is contingent on Jiang Ci’s safety, everyone’s goals, ambitions and shrewd lifestyle of precaution and careful planning can be thrown out the window the moment that they lay eyes on Jiang Ci.
This, what I’ve termed as the “Jiang Ci Rule”, is the fundamental rule of this world that the ML, the SML, and even her “Shifu” are all enslaved to live by. And every time you begin to understand a character - their motivations, their backstory, their train of logic - and their role begins to take life as a more 3-dimensional character with depth, the Jiang Ci Rule must be invoked to trample them down into a 2-dimensional puppet whose only purpose is to behave in whatever way because “the screenwriter said so.”

The show was promising in its exposition, but quickly derailed off of the tracks in a way that is unsalvageable.

THE EXPOSITION

The initial relationship between most of the characters made sense. The ML and the FL were true enemies, they didn’t know each other’s identities but they knew that they were not standing on the same side, as their plans were constantly being thwarted by each others presence. And while I disliked how Jiang Ci’s meddling always successfully ruined the ML’s well-crafted schemes, I understood that was her intention all along, as she did not know what he was scheming and why. And based on how they met, and on the upstanding man that she believed the SML to be, it is totally rational that, in her ignorance of the ML’s justice mission, she would default to taking the SML’s side and positioning herself as the obstacle to all the ML’s plans. While it is annoyingly that she is so presumptuous as to try to be the hero all the time and interfere in this political conflict for which she has no context, her actions can be reasoned away by her naivety and narcissistic “defender of justice” hero complex (unlikable, but not far-fetched).

THE CATALYST
** Spoilers Hereafter **

The first major sin happens after the elderly couple that had been helping the ML behind scenes are publicly tortured and killed by the SML. They would have never been captured and killed had the ML’s plans worked out up until now, but their deaths were caused by the multiple cracks that the FL over-eagerly wedged into the ML’s perfect schemes. And the ML seemed to agree with this conclusion before this scene, as he had just been water torturing the FL in prison because he blamed her for every comrade that died, or was maimed, had to go into hiding thanks to all of the FL’s interferences. So naturally he should blame her too for this (and the FL should’ve also realized her guilt at this point because she had not stopped to consider who she might be harming whenever she helped expose the ML’s plans). When the FL requests to meet the ML next, you would expect to hear some remorse, apologies and recognition of her guilt on the FL’s side, and a lot of blame and increased animosity towards her on the ML’s. But what does she do instead of apologizing? She launches into a story about a stray cat that once died and makes parallels to that and the death of this elderly couple to show that she can empathize with the ML. She assumes no fault at all and compares the lives of this loyal, misfortunate, suffering elderly couple to that of a stray cat. A logical response for the ML at this point in their relationship is to take offense at this and for his hatred for her to not be pacified. But this is the first time that the “Jiang Ci Rule” goes into effect, and the ML is softened to the FL as if their whole negativity history has been wiped clean by her pathetic attempt at sympathy. Somehow this, of all things, is the turning point where the ML chooses to forgive all the things that the FL has done to get in his way and inadvertently harm his people, and does a complete 180 degrees - going from wanting to manipulate, silence, and seek retribution from the FL, to wanting to defend, protect, and fall in love with the FL. It just makes no sense.

THE JOURNEY

Now that the leads are no longer enemies, the FL often tries to find a way to “save” the ML when she thinks he might get in trouble. This FL, who has no martial arts ability, no context for the political struggle going on, and no insight into the intricate plans that the ML is weaving, cannot let go of her meddling nature and allows herself to continue to be the catalyst for things going south in all of the MLs plans. Like when the ML goes to such lengths to help her escape from the SML after the ordeal in Nanning, and then she immediately returns, rendering all of his efforts in vain, because she needs to “save him” from having his identity as the assassin revealed thanks to the matching arrowhead. And how does she do this? By stealing the arrowhead in broad daylight and then running straight to the ML’s room, leaving muddy tracks leading right through his window to further incriminate him. If they weren’t fully convinced that he was the assassin before, those actions were most certainly the nail in the coffin. Moreover, as clever as the ML is, he too would’ve already figured out that the arrowhead would’ve incriminated him and came up with a backup plan, but after Jiang Ci’s actions there was no more denying it. And the most ridiculous part of this whole thing? When she arrives in his room, she begs him to not let the SML find her, don’t let him take her away. WTH???? He already did so much for you to escape before today and you threw it all away, and now you show up and say “I’m back, you have to protect me again now.” Does she not realize how much of a liability she makes herself by staying with him, or does she just not care and expect him to be fully willing to take on her baggage, no questions asked? But the Jiang Ci Rule exists, and so of course he hides her, he houses her for days, and he sorrowfully listens at night when she complains about “when will we be able to leave this place? My shifu’s waiting for me. My shifu, my shifu, I’m gonna miss my shifu.” HE ALREADY SENT YOU TO HER AND YOU CAME BACK OF YOUR OWN VOLITION TO CAUSE TROUBLE FOR HIM. What right does she have to complain in front of him and guilt him about her missing the meetup?? He should be growing annoyed with her by now, but instead I’m supposed to believe that these are the situations that make him fall in love with a bullheaded brat like her?
Or how about when they are in Yueluo on the day of the City Lord selection when he tells her to stay home, and she deliberately sneaks out and shows up in the city center. Because of her, she and Yu Lian and Le are spotted in the crowd by Hong Jie and they are later kidnapped in order to threaten the ML into handing over the jade hairpin. Hmmm, If only they weren’t spotted on that day, then they would never have been discovered as the ML’s affiliates. Hmmm, if only someone knew to tell them not to be seen outside that day… smh
With all this, every action that the FL makes has proven to be a thorn in the ML’s side, whether intentionally or not. And she never recognizes how much trouble she has caused, never takes responsibility for it, and still acts so brazenly wherever she goes, as if she deserves to hold her head high in front of everyone, because she’s just a carefree girl who has done them no harm. You cannot convince me that there is a romance developing between these two leads unless the ML has no concept of cause and effect. Maybe in his eyes, the FL is fearless, loyal, and stick to her own principles. But her fearlessness combined with willful ignorance and lack of ability constantly backfires on him. Her loyalty is an obstacle whenever the loyalty is blindly applied to those who stand on the opposite side of the ML. Her principles lead her to constantly thwart the ML’s plans as she does not what he instructs, but whatever she thinks is best in the moment. But the “Jiang Ci Rule” allows him to only see the virtuous causes of her actions, and not their disastrous effects. So much so that she becomes the person for whom he would constantly alter his well-crafted plans, and put her wellbeing and desires above the justice of the Yueluo people and the redemption of his father’s name that he had spent years of his like committed to seeking.

And then there is the SML, which is another extreme case of this. A man who had planned for years just to make a name for himself and redeem his father’s legacy, suddenly becomes obsessed with this one girl and would constantly sacrifices his reputation and his goals in order to forcefully bring her back into his household. He looks crazed half the time whenever Jiang Ci is mentioned, and I don’t even know why because they don’t have that much history with each other, and she told him very early on that she was not interested in him. Yet in every scheme he makes, he seems ready to sacrifice lives until he hears that Jiang Ci might be there, and then he’s running like the wind to protect her, and only her. Without reason she has become this prized jewel that does not have to do anything to earn undying devotion from him.

THE BREAKING POINT

So all this was frustrating, but I thought I could just grit my teeth and make it through the show if I just told myself that the SML is a lunatic that was written/acted poorly to be portrayed as a nonsensical love-obsessed archetype rather than a rational human being. And then I just had to close my eyes and pretend that there was no romance happening between the ML and FL, and he was tolerating her because he has way too much foresight and is playing the long game, so her little blunders actually are trivial to him.
But I absolutely had enough when the shifu entered the ring. This woman shows up on the day of what would be the final battle between YueLuo City and Lu Yu’s Liang forces, and she enters the battlefield dressed in a Liang army uniform and thinks, “this is the perfect time for me to attempt to reunite with my disciple. I see her on the battlefield, trying to protect the YueLuo people who are clearly being oppressed and about to be annihilated, and it is the perfect time for me to make a scene because everything is all about me and my disciple.” Like hello??? There are bigger things at hand right now than you and Jiang Ci. Didn’t she say that she was fond of YueLuo and always yearned for their bitterless congee? Now that they are fighting for their life, she thinks it is a good time to engage the ML (who is clearly the leader of YueLuo’s army) in combat and fight over this one girl? The women, children and elderly behind those city walls will all die if they lose this battle, but you really think this is an appropriate time to settle personal scores??? This can only be explained by the Jiang Ci Rule. Unless this entire world is meant to revolve solely around Jiang Ci, there is no way that the shifu would choose this battleground to make a move unless she really is a ruthless, evil person worthy of bring the main villain of this drama. Anyone whose behavior sends the message “whole cities may fall, and I will not be concerned, as long as I get my disciple back,” is not supposed to be viewed as a good or even neutral character in a show. And yet, when Jiang Ci sees her shifu fighting the ML, she behaves the exact same way! She starts crying like a baby and yelling “I’ll never forgive you if you hurt my shifu,” and her whole awareness of the battle that they are in is completely lost. Suddenly it is all about protecting the shifu from the ML, who is suddenly a bad guy in her mind? He wasn’t even trying to fight the shifu, he keeps telling her to calm down and he’ll explain things after the battle, but she refuses to back down and continues to attack him like a rabid animal unable to listen to reason. Yet in the FL’s eyes he not only is attacking her shifu, but he must have approached her intentionally from the start just so that he could hurt her shifu. Why would she jump to that conclusion in that moment??? The shifu was dressed in enemy army attire, it is more likely that he is attacking her thinking she is a member of the enemy army. But in her eyes he must immediately know who the shifu is and must be so desperate to harm her that he would prioritize attacking her now over finishing the battle to protect YueLuo that he is LITERALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF FIGHTING. Because the world revolves around Jiang Ci and the people around her, everyone else is expendable. Just a few episodes ago the entire city BOWED DOWN to Jiang Ci to thank her for her efforts in curing the pandemic, and now on the main battlefield she is ignoring their plight to cause a scene and distract their leader from winning the battle, because the single life of her shifu is that much more important than every life saved in the city? And in doing so she obviously exposed herself as someone precious to the ML and the enemy took advantage of the conflict to kidnap her for use as a bargaining chip with the ML later. Thus, once again a decisive victory for the ML is thwarted by the FL appearing to endanger herself and give him a weakness that his enemy can use against him. The FL has forever been written to be a thorn in his side.

This was the breaking point. The ML, the SML and now even the shifu have been acting in ways that are unreasonable and can only be explained by blind obsession with and devotion to the FL. And it has blinded them all so much that the shifu directly inserted herself into the situation causing damage to the greater good, the SML has long lost sight of the greater good, and the ML still fights for the greater good but willingly humors the FL’s immaturity, self-serving sense of justice, and ignorance-fueled fearlessness that gravely hinders the greater good. As soon as the FL was captured I turned off the screen and refused to watch any more. Every character is insufferable and not worthy of a good ending, whatever misery comes next is well deserved. The ML and the people loyal to him are the only characters with redeeming qualities, but his indulgence of the FL will cause every one of them to be harmed in the end, and that’s not something I want to see.

Xiao Zhan Was Asked If He Had Advice For The Real Mo DeXian What Would It Be. He Said He Protected..

Xiao Zhan Was Asked In An Interview, Did He Have Any Advice For The Real Mo DeXian, Instead With A Sad Face, Sad Eyes, And Almost Tears In His Eyes Xiao Zhan Said That He Did His Very Best To Protect His Family, And He Kept Them Safe The Best Way He Could. Xiao Zhan Had No Advice For Him, All He Had Was Praising For Mo DeXian In How He Did Such An Amazing, And Great Job, Keeping His Family Safe!!! All Xiao Zhan Would Mention Was How Mo DeXian Did So Well, And Good, And Kept His Family Out Of Harms Way. In Other Words, The Way That Xiao Zhan Is Putting It, Is That This Man Mo DeXian Did Everything, And Anything In His Power To Protect His Family.
In Every Interview With Xiao Zhan Or When Xiao Zhan Is Promote This Movie, You Could See The Sadness In His Face, And Eye's With Almost Tears In His Eyes Everytime For This Movie. Xiao Zhan's Sadness Is Real, It Is Not Fake, And He Is Not Acting. He Is Genuinely Sad For Mo DeXian, And His Family, Because My Xiao Zhan Is Real, And Has A Heart! My Poor Xiao Zhan The Trama, Stress, He Must Have Went Though For This Movie!!! PTSD!!! OMG!!!

I Have To Admit, I Really Didn't Want To See This Movie, Because Of What It's About. I Honestly Have To Say I Didn't Think I Would Like This Movie, Because It Is About War, So I Almost Didn't Even Want To Watch This Movie, But Because I Love, And Adore Xiao Zhan So Very Much, I Had To At Least Watch The Movie Once To Help, And Support Him. (I Was Kind Of Sad Because Usully They Show YiBo's, And Xiao Zhan's Movies At 2 Thearters Out Here, And They Stay Out For About 2 Months, This Came Out Christmas Day Of Last Year, And They Took It Out Of One Thearter Already. I Was Lucky To Find The Showing For Today!!! It Was Very Tricky Find The Showing For Today, But I Found It!!! THANK GOODNESS!!!)

I Finally Saw This Movie GeZhi Town Today...
And Shockingly To My Husband, And To My Suprise We Were Really Shocked, Because We Both Really Ended Up Liking The Movie. Both My Mom, And My Husband Love Xiao Zhan Too... So Naturally I Brought My Mom With Us. My Mom Really Didn't Say If She Liked The Movie Or Not. Which I Understand, Because Unfortunately My Mom Really Did Go Though Or Lived Though WW2. One Story That Stuck In My Mind Was The Air Raid, And How Her Whole Town Would Have To Hide In An Under Ground Cave To Not Be Affected By The Bomb! It Was When The Japanese Took Over Taiwan. She Has Told Me Many Past Memories Of WW2, And None Are Pleasent, So I Really Didn't Ask Her Or Prye Wiether She Like The Movie Or Not.
She Did Comment On How The Little Boy Is Bad, And I Said Yes He Is, He Doesn't Listen. This Little Boy, All He Kept Doing Was Running Around, And Totally Misbehaving, And Hiding. His Mom, And Dad Had To Go Into Danger Looking For Him Once Or Twice While The Japanese Were There. I Just Wanted To Wring This Kid By The Neck!!! My Mom Said He Does Know Anything About Living Or Dying. Which Means He's Never Seen Death, So He Is Not Scared Of Death, Which Is So True!!! Funny Part Though He Kept Asking His Great Grand Pa How Come He Doesn't Die. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Anyways In All Seriousness, And In All Honesty Though, My Mom Knows How Much I Love And Adore Wang YiBo, And Xiao Zhan, So She Would Never Say Anything Bad About Them, Or Speak Ill Of Them, Because She Knows They Are My 2 Most Favorite People In The World. (Amongst Other Actors) Plus She Is Always Telling How Xiao Zhan Is So Cute. 🥰 So Even If She Didn't Like The Movie, She Would Never Tell Me. (She Has Seen No Name/ Hidden Blade, The Legend Of Condor Heros: The Gallants, And This Movie, She Has Never Said Anything About Any.)

The Music Was Very Strange, Sounded Like From The Olden Times, Like Old Antcient Chinese Music, And A Lady Kept Singing It, I Didn't Really Care For It Or Liked That Music At All. There Was Even A Song At The End That Kept Repeating The Words Congadtutaltion To You, I Guess Because They All Servived, But It Was Like The Most Inappropriate Time To Play That Song.
The Only Reason Why I Gave The Music A 9.0 Score Is Only For ONE Reason, And That Is Because The Ending Credits Song That Xiao Zhan Sings. THE 9.0 IS FOR, AND ONLY THE ENDING CREDIT SONG THAT XIAO ZHAN SINGS!!! I Am Guessing It Was Especially Made For This Movie! Xiao Zhan And His Bad @ss New Song. I Love His Voice, Talking, Or Singing, I Love His Voice Both Ways. He Has Such A Beautiful, And Angelic Voice!!! At Least That Is What My Husband, And I Think...

The Movie Started Out Strange In Black, And White, Then Switchs To Color, And Switches Off Back, And Forth Though Out The Movie, And Vice Versa. I Will Say This, One Thing I Didn't Like Was It Was In A Different Chinese Dialect. It Wasn't Even Cantonese, I Don't Think. It Was Spoken In Mandarin Chinese Rarely, Which Made It Hard To Understand The Movie, And It Wasn't Very Enjoyable. The English Translation Is Always 99.9% Wrong, So I Never Read It. It Had 3 Diffrent Languages, Very Little Mandarin Chinese, A Strange Dialect, And Japanese... So Expect To Hear 3 Diffrent Languages. I Think The Unique Dialect Is From Where Xiao Zhan Comes From Chong Qing, Because Both Characters Him, And His Wife Were From There In The Movie (It's So Strange, Because Xiao Zhan's Other Movie Legend Of Condor Heros: The Gallants Was Spoken In Mandarin, Mongolian, And I Believe Cantonese. What's Up With The Different Languages??? Even YiBo Too... His No Name/ Hidden Blade Had Mandarin, Cantonese, And Japanese! Informed Police Unit Had Mandarin, Cantonese, And French! WTF??? Intresting, But Kind Of Bazzar At The Same Time!!!)

The Movie It's Self Is Very Stressful, And Very Tramatizing At Least To Me It Was, Because Thoughout The Movie I Thought To Myself Xiao Zhan Would Get Hurt In Real Life So Many Times Screaming, Yelling, And Cringing, Because Of All The Things Going On In The Movie Even Though It Was Filmed Some Time Ago. I Always Get Scared, And Worry With Crazy Stunts Like In This Movie, Because It's Scary. I Know Xiao Zhan Did Get Hurt On His Check One Time, But Thank Goodness It Didn't Leave His Pretty Face With A Scar. Owwww, I Was So Mad When I Heard About Him Getting Hurt In The Face, Because The Movie Or Drama Production Team Are So Careless.

Let's Just Say In The Movie Mo DeXian Is Very Lucky, Because He Could Have Died 20 Times Or More, And Over Again. Be Shot At Repeatedly, By Mustkets, And A Tanker, Or Bombed At. Actually I Don't Know If He Is Lucky Or Not, But I Think Great Grand Pa's Praying To There Ancestors Worked, Because Even Great Grand Pa Got Away Unskaved. Fighting With The Japanese With Just An Axe, Or Cleaver, And Being Shot At, He Never Once Got Hurt. Actually I Think That Big Black Pig Is A Luckiest Of Charms, Because If It Weren't For The Pig, Great Grand Pa, Would Have Never Left The Rock On The Tanker, And It Would Have Never Gotten Stuck Or Wedged Between The Tanker Gun, And Tanker. Great Grand Pa Trying To Corral The Pig Back To His House Was Like A God Sent.

As For The Movie, And The Most Part, This Movie Itself It Is Really Gorey, Graphic, And Very Tramatizing, I Can't Believe How Disgusting, And Brutal The Japanese Were. 3 Japanese Men With No Care In The World, But With One Mission To Kill Every Chinese In Sight. They Stabbing The Chinese With A Knief Attached To A Musket Once, Twice, Or Over, And Over Again, And Again With No Care In The World That They Just Murdered And Or Just Killed Another Human Being, AND OR JUST SHOOTING THE CHINESE AND LEFT DEAD. (When My Mom Talked About WW2, I Believed Her, She's Told Me A Memorie She Had, And It Was That She Saw A Japanese Soldier Tie Up A Dog To A Pole, And Just Start Slashing The Dog Into Pieces With A Katana Sword, I Was Always Like Why, She Said Just Because He Didn't Like The Dog. Anyways After Watching This Movie I Believe Her More Then Ever Now, Because That One Japanese Shot The Dog That Was Running Away, For No Reason. 😡)

I KNOW YOUR THINK HOW COULD MY HUSBAND, AND I HAVE REALLY LIKED THIS MOVIE, Well... For One Of Our Most Favorite Actors Whom We Love, And Adore So Very Much Was In It! TWO, As True To What Xiao Zhan Said About Mo DeXain, And Him Keeping His Family Safe, He Did, And He Did His Very Damndest Too... Even If It Meant Risking His Own Life, And Dying, He Didn't Care, The Most Important Thing To Him Was His Family, And Keeping His Family Safe, And Out Of Harms Way.
I Will Only Reviel This One Spoiler At The Very End Of The Movie Mo DeXian, And His Family Were The Only Ones That Servived The Whole Ordeal, Everyone Else Had Died, All The Chinese Soldiers, And All The Japanese Soldiers All Died, Maybe One Or 2 Lived, But Other Then That Mo DeXian, His Wife, Great Grand Pa, And There Son All Servived.
I'M NOT GOING TO LIE, I THOUGHT MO DEXIAN WOULD DIE, AND I WAS GOING TO BE PISSED AS HELL, BUT HE LIVED, AND LET ME TELL YOU THE ENDING WAS TERIFFING, BECAUSE... I Already Revieled The Spoiler, So Your Just Going To Have To Watch What Happened.

Good Show, Jolly Good Show!

This was short and sweet, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I love the mains and their chemistry, and now I'm sad it ended so soon. There was definitely room for a bonus episode, for them to date openly or a wedding scene. But perhaps that wasn't in the budget. Alas, would totally recommend watching!

Deng Wei at his finest

Two words. Deng Wei. I vow to watch anything where he is the main character now. His face and acting is perfection. Both him and Julia Xiang both were able to act out separate character personalities flawlessly. By episode 6 I was already crying.

I will say, as most Xianxias go, the middle was really draggy filler material. I skipped a lot. However the cast, acting, storyline, and OST are still what makes me give this a high rating.

Burning love

I loved this. The acting was great, the cinematography was great and the story was great.

It was a gentle sweet story with nothing groundbreaking about it, but so comforting. I think I'm late to this drama, but I knew I had to watch it because I've seen EarthMix in other dramas (2, I think!) and loved them every time. It was a bit silly in places but that just added to the whole vibe of the drama.

The feelings that the main characters had for each other were obvious and so well portrayed. There were no NC scenes, no long making out scenes, just good acting.

The expressions some of the characters made were often funny. The mother's expression at the airport was great and I had to watch that several times!

What I liked: acting - from all characters, including the children; the cinematography was amazing and I was pleased to watch something that wasn't set in Bangkok.

What I didn't like: the Chief (Earth ) constantly sighing, but I got past that and thought of it as frustration with not knowing what to do.

Strong in the first half, but becomes confused about the story it wants to be.

The Journey of Legend is a bit of a frustrating mess, in all honesty. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy watching it as there was a lot that I liked about it, yet I also can’t say I finished it feeling satisfied.

You see, this show starts out to be an interesting adventure. Xiao Ming Ming ends up pulled into the AI written world of the martial arts online game he’s been writing for. He becomes the main character Xiao Qiu Shui and, in the traditional style of transmigration stories, has to find a way to work through the story whilst also working alongside the game world’s rules. He sets out on a journey to change the fate of those who end up suffering in the story, but slowly begins to loose himself more with the virtual world and the struggles faced within it against the powerful Power Sect.

The story carries a lot of potential within it and, for about the first half of the story, is rather engaging and interesting to follow. Yet I felt that as the show entered into the later stages it became confused as to what it was trying to tell. The Power Sect (and Xiao Qiu Shui’s adversary, Liu Sifeng) suddenly take a backseat while a bigger plot emerges, and the show decides to bring in a storyline that carries from Xiao Ming Ming’s outside life that … really feels as if it comes from nowhere with how late in into the series it’s introduced. I found myself asking somewhere in the 30’s episodes where Liu Sifeng’s plot had suddenly disappeared to, and why he was suddenly forgotten by the story. Other character storylines are either abandoned or wrapped up in ways that feel less than satisfying, and the main plot the story tries to settle on ending with feels rushed due to its late introduction to the story. In a nutshell, the story just becomes messy, as if a ball of wool had unraveled and upon trying to wrap it back up became tangled up.

The cast themselves do their very best. The characters themselves are intriguing and fun to follow, which is probably why I felt frustrated that their endings seemed as rushed as they were.

Unless you’re a fan of a particular actor or actress that stars in the show, The Journey of Legend is not a show I would recommend. There are other shows of the same genre that deliver a better and more satisfying story.

Steal the bride

This was surprisingly cute and entertaining ! The plot is nothing to write home about, it's yet another take on the girl who is over being a mistress, wants more, flies away, tries to have a normal life with a normal guy but is chased by her obsessed, powerful lover who's not over her. She won't yield until he makes a decent proposal, tale as old at times, successful and addictive since forever. I find this one a bit better than the usual bottom of the barrel fare about possessive CEOs and their runaway kept lovers : the cast is young and charming, their characters have a very active libido (it's like the writers had a timer and knew when to throw a make out scene to keep us awake, I won't lie : it works), and they (kinda) talked about their problems. SML and SFL were the usual scum of the earth treacherous, slappable bitches. The way the main conflict is resolved feel like the writer just gave up, but it's also fun : dad in law is suddenly okay with our couple simply because she was pregnant once with his son, and goes from electric chair murder to giving his blessings in minutes (I'm not even joking). Talking about blessings ! The reason why I clicked on the video was because of an extract of the ML kissing the FL during her wedding ceremony right in front of her groom, and then creating an excuse on the spot about the very well-known western tradition of the officiant blessing the couple by kissing the bride (yes of course, no wedding in the west would be complete without the officiant kissing the bride instead of the groom, that makes total sense ?? The fact that everyone was nodding along cracked me up). Overall it's a fun watch, not very clever or anything but the cast is charming and the endless chasing is less aggravating than usual thanks to plentiful sexytimes and some fun randomness.

It was a different experience within the BL genre.

I confess that only recently have I started watching some Korean BL dramas. I have been watching K-dramas for a much longer time.
I still prefer Chinese and Japanese BLs. Unfortunately, I cannot get used to the Thai language. The sound bothers my hearing, and I end up not appreciating the drama with impartiality. There are very few Thai BLs that I am able to watch.

Please forgive me, Thai viewers. This is not prejudice in any way, just an auditory incompatibility.

Right now, I am really trying to watch Khemjira, but it has been difficult. It is funny, sometimes I cannot even tolerate myself… honestly.

But let me move on to “Unleash the Curse of Taekwondo,” which is the reason I am here.

I liked the drama. It was a different experience within the BL genre. A mature and compact story, without excessive dragging or exaggerated emotions.

Yes, I wanted more. Although, for me, the most painful aspect was the inhumane side of domestic violence, what bothered me the most was the time skip that separated the lovers.

For some, twelve years is almost a lifetime; for many, it is a lifetime. So what makes a person leave another for so long? With so many unanswered questions, living in the solitude of an unfinished past? It was unfair. It was painful.

Even though the story follows an explanatory path, it was not convincing to me. Ju Yeong did not deserve that.

The script is good, but the translation in my country was unsatisfactory. Many dialogues were difficult to understand, which is truly unfortunate.

That said, the acting was very good and fully met what was required of the cast.

In the end, Unleash the Curse of Taekwondo is a good drama, a good BL.

It was not particularly memorable for me, but it can certainly be for others.

I would like to see the leads in another series, with the same chemistry, but with more freedom of action.

Sorry for this evaluation. I have just finished watching To My Shore, so my soul is still burning with passion, hahaha.

An amazing premise and start...

Overall an interesting magical story, however I personally enjoyed the first half way more than what they actually cooked.

THE GOOD:
- The premise is very interesting. The magic. The moral dilemmas.
- The vibes are on point. From how things are shot to the music to the lighting. Everything is put together really well to create a very cozy and magical vibe.
- The leads fully deliver. Pitcha holds most of the screentime focus, and she uses it amazingly, delivering a very emotional and rich performance. Natt has less focus, but still has a strong aura and some nuance.
- The second couple actually tackle some complex issues and take them seriously. Some rare representation.

THE BAD:
- The romance was nice, but personally I would have liked to watch them fall in love. It goes from "i dreamed about you" to "we are engaged" in 0.000001 seconds which feels like a big rip off to be in love because of visions of the future? Unearned romance.
- All antagonists are handled in an absurd way. Writers have no teeth as usual. By the end I feel sick about how much it wants to gloss over actual crimes.
- Repeated uses of the same tropes that didn't even make sense the first time. This seems to be a pattern when dramas want to use "crime" to spice up a series, but don't bother to make criminals actually behave like they are real people instead of just behaving in ways that are convenient for the plot device the writers want to force in.
- Age gap is pretty significant and never even acknowledged.
- The "rules" of the magic are arbitrary multiple times throughout, especially when it matters. This unfortunately robs us of any sense of stakes and really flubs what was very interesting moral dilemmas and tense conflicts by just handwaving the established rules.
- A lot of the plot that feels mysterious and interesting in the beginning is never developed. Maybe the novel had more to explain this? There seems to be an implication there are entire other lives or something?

What a complete let down- wasted opportunity to focus on healing the family

Such a poor drama, the whole series i was waiting for the redemption arc of the FL but even till the end we didnt get that! such a toxic FL - i wasted my time on this series so you dont have to... FL disrespects her husband, becomes emotionally disengaged with her husband and child, lets her Ex lover comes into her life, divorces husband, kills unborn child, never regrets her actions and countless humiliations then gets back with the ML!!! i mean what a let down and waste of time!

Mediocre over all, not even good actors pull it out

Generally an okay film. Good actors. Story is cliché truthfully. But could have been more interesting if the movie had been made better. But the worst part is the costume/make-up with poor fat suit looks. Ugh. And the ending is really dumb. I expected more, honestly. Some good ideas, but over all poorly executed. Did I mention the fat suits were awful?

So Funny and Dramatic Iconic Scenes

Based on the novel, Me & Thee, the drama’s plot is good and simple. It flows smoothly and perfectly, especially up to Episode 8. It’s really funny and very entertaining, even though it’s not a comedy series.

Most importantly, I need to talk about the actors’ acting — simply brilliant. Especially Pond. Every act, every dialogue, and every dramatic scene of his is iconic. His facial expressions and the way he delivers Peach-Thee’s emotions make you truly feel connected. The emotional engagement is so strong. The most dramatic scenes are incredibly iconic.

William Est, especially Est, stood out to me for his excellent eye contact. Perth–Santa’s acting is also very good. Santa plays a crucial role and is very impressive, especially with his model-like facial expressions. Phuwin — no need to say much about his skills; he is simply perfect.

The music and sound effects are also good. Overall, this series is really funny and refreshing. It makes our blood flow freely and helps release stress and pressure.

I hope they give us a memorable happy ending.
(Note :GMMTV much improve shows the realistic eye contact, expression deliverance Now both shows are realistic. However we need the show likewise heated rivalry .Because the show eye contact , deliverance expression each other another level. )
