Not gritty enough to be action, not absurd enough to be comedy.

This is another one of those half-baked shows that really doesn't know how to traverse magical realism. If you read enough YA, you know how much suspension of belief is required for the rules of the universe to stick and always, always these superhero tropes don't seem to grasp their own universe to make it believable enough.

Initially, I absolutely _loved_ the comedy. The character set ups, their chemistry. I wish the focus was on how ridiculously silly they all were. But then THE THING happened and basically from episode 3 or 4 onwards, the internal logic of the show started to slide downhill for me. To be clear, one of the best things about the show is the comedy. I wish there was more. I wish the comedy was so integrated that it makes you override any disbelief you may have about character reactions to external changes.

Unfortunately, as superhero tropes do, Chae-ni, Geong U and the gang are riding a wonky train that doesn't quite ever arrive at the station. Even the camera takes the whole affair too seriously, framing absolutely stupidly mundane moves as "cool" and "badass". There is no intention behind any of the characters, they're buffoons and clowns. Their superpowers are pure fluke. That's why they're so funny and great. Instead, everyone gets way too serious and still there is absolutely no pre-meditated movement, they're simply just reacting to events and triggers the whole time. Screaming at things and running around like headless chicken but with slow-mo tracking and gritty music in the background.

I'm not saying this is the worst show ever, there were some really entertaining comedic moments. But now I know why these superhero shows in korean dramas suck so hard. They're always trying to make absolutely stupid sh!t look like they're the new Avengers or something and it makes no goddamn sense.

Really good

This show really shows the impact of lies and it's bad to lie

starts FML is sweet, kind ,ml is cold ,rude mean sometimes, in the start he is really rude and mean towards FML but she did the mistake she lied so he was angry on her later he becomes completely different person

romance - rare kdrama that actually shows what romance actually is, natural not forced or random, it's slow burn FML falls first but ml confess first , I really prefer ml confess then FML they have alot of romantic interaction, and great chemistry, really cute couple

2nd couple - I skip them in all dramas , first the drama are too long and I prefer main leads romance than side characters

what is annoying in this -
FML really lies alot šŸ˜‚ but it's kinda struggle survival, for her she is an orphan and gets treated step mom sis behaviour they're actually her real family , mom always gives attention love to her daughter than the FML, the cousin dislike and jealous of her creates trouble for FML

FML is really dumb and stupid sometimes what she did - the ml female friend who is in love with ml tried to frame FML and kick her out of office , everyone knows what she did , FML is so dumb she goes to her and brings her back to office ,and she did create trouble for her she told a secret which caused breakup and she even replaced her assistant position with the cousin who is intern , FML that time brought her cousin to her office because she is poor and doesn't have a job
this was the worst scene in this drama but it wasn't long so I don't rate low because of this

the FML family is very bad she forgives them forgiving was okay but why bring her to the office ? she's just stupid for this

another scene I dislike is the ml ,when FML hide his father is faking illness it wasn't that long but she hide on this the ml gets angry on her ,it's was okay to be angry but ? when the female friend remove her from assistant position and make her work as intern ? he just watches that ? and the cousin also bullied her , that friend also told her to resign as soon as he got angry on her . this is the only time I really disliked ml ,
the ml sister is one of best character she's a child has better understanding than adults around her

last - full of drama troubles created by ml friend,FML family, I just skipped last 2 eps felt repetitive
it's happy ending

Hidden Gem Alert: The Best Enemy-to-Lovers Rom-Com You Didn’t Know You Needed!

Oh my goodness, you guys, I am completely obsessed! šŸ˜ I went into My Uncanny Destiny expecting a typical, low-budget historical web-drama, but it completely blew me away! The production quality was surprisingly top-tier, and the story kept me glued to my screen way more than I ever anticipated. If you love chaotic energy, fake identities, and pure fluff, this is your next binge-watch!

Here is my official, total-fangirl breakdown:
Acting: 9/10 — The main leads have the absolute best facial expressions and comedic timing!
Music: 7.5/10 — Super cute, bubbly tracks that perfectly match the playful vibe.
Romance: 10/10 — The chemistry is sizzling, swoon-worthy, and beautifully developed!
Storyline: 8.5/10 — Surprisingly engaging with great pacing and way fewer boring fillers than usual.
Rewatch Value: 9/10 — I will 100% replay my favorite funny scenes when I need a dopamine hit.
Overall Vibe: 8.5/10 — Pure, unadulterated joy from start to finish!

The Actors Absolutely CRUSHED It!

I need to shout from the rooftops about how much I loved the actors' performances! Zhang Yue Nan (Ye Zhaonan) is an absolute star as the cross-dressing city lord. She is so fierce but possesses the most hilarious, expressive reactions. And Luo Zheng (Liu Xuanming)? Wow. He plays the arrogant-but-whipped lord so perfectly. Their chemistry is electric, and you can tell the entire cast was having the absolute time of their lives filming this.

The laughable moments in this drama are pure gold! The entire amnesia arc where Zhaonan ends up serving Xuanming in his palace is filled with top-tier slapstick comedy. From the ridiculous misunderstandings to Xuanming trying to figure out why this "man" makes his heart flutter, I was literally wheezing. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which makes the humor land perfectly every single time.

If you want something lighthearted, beautifully shot, and shockingly well-written, do not sleep on this drama! It is a total 10/10 in my heart!

Certainly NOT a waste of time!

I was very interested in watching this drama because Gang Dongwon does NOT do TV dramas. He simply doesn't. Last time that man was in a drama was more than twenty years ago. I found the premise interesting but I wondered what exactly would bring him back to the world of TV. Short answer: he wanted to kiss Gianna Jun and I most certainly can not blame him. (I'd wanna too, but I'm not a super handsome, tall actor)

Both leads are now very much Veteran actors with ranges that will astound you and this show fares no differently. I really enjoyed their chemistry and found myself rewinding a lot of their interaction. Between the actors themselves and the direction I felt like there was a lot of subtlety that really made the interpersonal interactions way more believable and I appreciated that.

This show also looks pretty good. It's not Vagabond, but it does what it does well enough. I also really liked some of the monologues, there was a particularly striking line our FL says about a church built out of the bodies of her loved ones. I don't think I will ever forget that line…

The original soundtrack was so good. I decided to watch this on the TV cause I thought it deserved it and my subwoofer was BLASTING. I haven't liked original background tracks this much since My Dearest. The use of ā€œHave yourself a Merry Little Christmasā€ was so haunting in the moment. I remember getting goosebumps.

So the not so good stuff is just about everything else.

This show (like most kdrama) starts off incredibly strong and ends up devolving into half baked nonsense by the end. I once again feel that this new shorter format is kind of hurting these dramas. I feel that an extension to 12 of even the old standard of 16 would have helped this show immensely.

The main villain's plan and motivation are genuinely dumb. When you learn what exactly the plan was and how long they had been prepared… it makes you wonder what the point of all the assassination attempts was??? They try to kill people beneficial to the plan more than once and I still don't really get it.

I had no issues until the final reveals made things too dumb. Another one that couldn't stick the landing.

I love Gianna Jun tho.🩷 Her strong but vulnerable portrayal REALLY impressed me. Munju was so relatable.

7.5 but closer to a 7 than an 8.
I'm giving this a higher score just because I personally had a great time watching this. episodes 2-7 were so fun.

It’s a low-key story about first love that feels very grounded. The actors are talented and make the quiet moments work, but I have to be honest: the plot gets a bit draggy. There were times when the pacing felt slow enough that I started to lose focus but I’m really stuck on that title melody and the piano music—it’s just beautiful and carries the whole mood.

I was grounded by how real this felt. The chemistry is incredible, and I loved how the story took its time with quiet moments instead of rushing. It felt like a moody journey that didn't shy away from being melancholy. The acting was top-tier, and the cinematography felt very intimate. The final episode was bittersweet and realistic, but it wasn't an ending at all—if anything, I was left with more questions than answers.

Slow pacing, forced plot, subpar acting

The story didn't pick up until the end, which was upsetting, considering there are only a total of 8 episodes. I wouldn't have minded a slower pace if it meant strong character developments or more chemistry between characters, but that wasn't the case either. I felt nothing between the main characters to the point that I felt like they could've left out any romance in this drama. The plot itself was jumbled and felt messy. As usual, Cha Eunwoo's acting was lacking and Park Eunbin's acting was too much.

So much potential wasted.

Work Later, Drink Now 2 had SOOO much potential to be a great series. However, it suffers from what a lot of long running shows suffer from: Writer's fatigue. I thought it had great characters, played by fantastic actors and actresses. Some of the plot threads were peak K-drama writing. I was over-joyed to see Yun Si Yun as a love interest. But those are the only positives I can say about WL, DR season 2. I really wanted to give it a 10, but I saw too many plot fails.

For starters, Season Two erased and re-wrote Ji-yeon, So-Hee, and Ji-Gu's backstory. In Season One, they met at a dance competition at a pub . In Season Two, they met and started hanging out in college. Did no one watch Season One before writing Season Two?

Second: The living in the mountains plotline was a bit jarring. These 3 just disappear for a year or more and NO ONE but Buk-Gu goes searching? Their parents or loved ones don't reported them missing? And So-Hee still has her old job? I know it's a fictional story, but it's got to be somewhat believable so the audience can relate.

Third: The way Ji-Gu and Ji-yeon got over their very serious fight was anti-climatic, incredulous, and disingenuous. They had the kind of fight that PERMANENTLY ends friendships in real life. I was eager to see how the three would make up. But, nope! Not even an apology. Just a "let's pretend it didn't happen because I saw my estranged Daddy," plot fail. A man must have wrote it because a woman would not have written such a lackadaisical fix. There would have been some hair pulling and eye-gouging at the least.

Fourth: Ji-yeon did NOT have a character arc. She ended up the same person as she was at the beginning of season one. I'm okay with her not diving into a relationship with Kim Sun-Kook. But winding up with 3 men at the end of the series, 2 of whom came out of nowhere? Seriously? A simple arc would have been her trying monogamy with Sun-Kook, or at least admitting that she liked him but was scared of hurting him because of her Daddy issues. Or at the very least, she could have turned down a guy who chose to flirt with her in front of Sun-Kook. But when the show runners have writers fatigue, the viewers get copy-paste character decisions, I guess.

Fifth, speaking of Sun-Kook, how'd he get over his sensory disability? One line of dialogue about it would have been nice.

Sixth: Will Ji-Gu and her mother continue hating each other?

Seventh: Will So-Hee and her mother continue hating each other?

And last, but not least: DID Ahn So-Hee die? Who thought it was a good idea to end the show like that? A fall because of alcohol brain is believable since these women are fun drunks. But why tease the idea that So-Hee died? At a wedding! She was one of the MAIN characters! How could the writers drop the ball so disastrously?

You know what...DISHONOR! Dishonor on the writers, the show runners and their LAZY CREATIVITY! WL, DN 2 could have been a 10, but you're going home with a 5!

Two Broken Souls, One Heartbreaking Journey This BL Deserves More Attention Than It Gets 10/10

So many good Chinese BLs are airing lately, and I came across this series on GagaOOLala. Gosh, it did not disappoint at all. At first, I expected a simple high school romance, but this drama is so much darker, emotional, and thrilling than I imagined. It honestly deserves way more attention.

I honestly don’t understand how some Thai BLs get so much attention when the plot is weak, the acting feels cringe, and the story goes nowhere. Meanwhile, Lost to You is genuinely one of the best series I’ve watched recently, yet it remains so underrated.

The story follows Zhan Wang, a rich teenager who returns to his hometown while secretly carrying a terminal illness, and Xu Yuan, a hardworking top student struggling to support his family while being treated like a jinx by the entire town. Their personalities clash at the beginning, but watching their relationship slowly grow felt so natural and emotional without being overly dramatic.

What really makes this series stand out is the atmosphere and emotional depth. The plot keeps you invested without revealing too much too quickly, and every episode carries this heavy emotional tension that makes it hard to stop watching. Episode 3 completely broke me and had me crying so much. The way the emotions slowly build and make you attached to the characters feels so real and natural.

Every scene feels meaningful, and the pain, love, and struggles of the characters stay with you even after the episode ends. The fighting scenes were surprisingly well done, the soundtrack fit perfectly with the mood, and the acting from both leads was excellent.

It is rare to find a BL where the plot itself is this strong while also delivering such emotional impact. China once again proves how strong their BL storytelling can be, especially when mixing romance with darker themes and emotional depth. Everything about this series worked for me, the chemistry, the cinematography, the music, and the heartbreaking yet beautiful story.

Another easy 10/10 for me. Definitely a must-watch for BL fans because Lost to You deserves so much more recognition. This is the kind of series that reminds you how powerful storytelling can be.

It’s 2026 yet we’re having non consensual scenes

First of all: North is the absolutely cutie pie of this universe. We love him. His friendship with Arthit is so funny and cute.

Getting back: them and JohanNorth are by far (we have TigerNao to happen yet) the most insane chemistries in this whole series. Not that the other couples are bad (that's not the question really)! But they're other flavors.

But I have some specific things that made me a little uncomfortable: there are multiple scenes where Arthit was crossing Daotok's boundaries, and even if Daotok forgave him. Well, I don't. It made me uncomfortable. It's 2026 so it feels so ridiculous and makes me so angry… consent IS NOT optional, WTF.

Along with this, they had the most interesting and fun plot of the whole Fourever You universe, still, they made it… boring. It feels empty too. I have a lot of problems with the decisions that the screenwriters made here. It's just upsetting. I had high expectations but now I honestly can't believe that this show has such a high score here on MDL 🫩 My problem here is that the process of them falling in love is too rushed, I understand that we had a short time, it's an 8 episode arc/series. But still…

They're amazing actors! I hope they work together soon bcs as I said, good chemistry and they're both very good actors!

It has interesting directing too! But nothing could fix this script. Honestly… it's such a shame! I was so excited.

obsessed. period.

I’m pretty sure I just watched my new favorite bl show and now have a new favorite bl couple. omgggggggggg, this show was so friggin good.

Chance and Guno had THE BEST chemistry. Lord, that size difference. Chance was amazing. His nose was so attractive, like wtf?? And Guno’s smile is breathtaking.
I adored the friends. Love when the girl characters are supportive. Adds so much depth to the story.

Great story, great pacing. Slice of life type story that I just devoured.
Just, seriously obsessed.

When Burnout Meets Stockholm Syndrome

this was amazing!

i get that people are skipping this. I was also putting this off because I don’t really enjoy dramas with toxic relationships or love triangles. but I really appreciate BLs that go against the usual norm, which this one does. that’s what made it amazing for me.

this was such a well made drama. the direction, the cinematography, the acting, everything was amazing! especially, the acting. oh my! this is my second time watching OffGun. I watched Not Me a few days ago (I’m very new to thai bls) and absolutely loved them there. this drama made me hateeee them (the characters, not them as a person or actor). that’s how well they pulled off their roles!

this was my first time seeing Dew. and goddamn he’s HANDSOME. and a freaking giantšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ and his acting?? omg. i think I loved his acting even more than Off and Gun’s. the scene where he sees the painting Jira made for Ko, that scene broke my heart in a million pieces. the immense pain on his face, you could feel the pain he’s feeling!

before starting the drama, judging by the comments i could tell that there are plenty of red flags and toxicity in this drama. I was under the impression that Ko is the biggest red flag, Pheem is maybe also a red flag, and Jira is probably caught in between the red flags. boy i was so wrong😭

while Ko was indeed the biggest red flag, Jira wasn’t any greener. if anything, i hated Jira more than i hated Ko. at least Ko was a POS through and through, he never pretended to be a nice person. Jira on the other hand….sigh. at first i was somewhat feeling bad for him. but then he just started stringing Pheem along and kept hurting him over and over again. the more the drama progressed, I stopped feeling any sympathy towards any of these two, i was wishing they get doomed together. lol.

Pheem, my man :’) i see some people calling him a red flag as well. I personally wouldn’t tag him as a red flag. pitiful, maybe. but not a red flag. he got the most severe case of stockholm syndrome, first with Ko and then with Jira. I don’t blame him for not leaving Jira (even though he should’ve), because I believe he’s genuinely a good hearted person and he genuinely wanted to trust and understand Jira. I'm honestly relieved that he didn’t end up with Jira. he deserves so much better.

OffGun chemistry was explosive, as expected. I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing DewGun’s chemistry was, despite this being Dew’s first time acting in a BL. this proves once again what an amazing actor he is! i would love to see him in another BL (idk if that will ever happen though:().

I might be in the minority here, but I really disliked Gun’s makeup in this drama. I can’t quite pinpoint what it was, but it just felt…off? (pun intended lmao). the hairstyle was also awful. Gun is absolutely gorgeous, but this makeup and hairstyle didn’t do justice to how beautiful he is.

one thing that I really appreciated about this drama is how they brought up the usage of AI. I thought it would have a much bigger role in the drama, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I wish they implemented it more, that would’ve made this drama so much more bold and refreshing.

I was also expecting the burnout aspect to be a bit bigger, considering the drama is called BURNOUT syndrome. they touched the topic, but never went any further. the psychological aspects of a burnout, how much it affects a person mentally and how it can change them, things like this was never explored. I really liked the idea of the burnout bar, though. also, the bartender was HOT šŸ˜‚ and the drink names were super interesting.

overall, this was a great drama. but I highly doubt I’ll ever rewatch this and make myself swim through the ocean of red flags againšŸ˜‚

A Soft and Beautiful Ending to Yumi’s Journey✨

Wow… I seriously can’t believe Yumi’s Cells is finally over after 5 whole years, and honestly, Yumi couldn’t have gotten a more deserved happy ending. ಄_಄

Going into this final season, I really didn’t know what to expect. Compared to the first two seasons, this one is definitely shorter, and I’m not gonna lie, I do think it was kinda unfair that a lot of Soon Rok’s moments were given to Woong and Babi instead. But at the same time, it makes me think a third season wasn’t originally planned. Even so, I ended up loving every single episode and enjoying the ride all over again. (「dωd)ļ½¢

Out of all of Yumi’s relationships, Soon Rok’s is the one that feels the most compatible and emotionally balanced. She had chemistry with Woong and Babi, sure, but with Soon Rok, it feels different. More natural, more stable, more mature. They just fit together in a way that feels effortless. This sense of comfort and stability between them makes their connection feel incredibly real.

One thing I really loved about Soon Rok is how calm and respectful he is. In the previous seasons, romance often came from someone actively chasing Yumi, almost forcing their way into her heart. But Soon Rok never does that. He’s patient, calm, and lets things develop naturally without pressuring her, which honestly made their relationship feel even more meaningful to me. Their dynamic felt mature in a way we hadn’t really seen before.

I also loved the shift in Yumi herself this season. For once, she’s the one who falls first and openly takes emotional initiative, while Soon Rok is the one who eventually confesses. It really gave the whole relationship that ā€œshe fell first, but he fell harderā€ vibe. (/ω\) In the earlier seasons, Yumi often reacted to other people’s feelings instead of fully taking charge of her own, so seeing this growth in her character felt really satisfying and fitting for the final chapter of her story.

And yes… I absolutely cried during the final episode. Partly because I was happy, and partly because of the nostalgia. This drama has been with us since 2021, so reaching the end genuinely felt like saying goodbye to old friends. I’m definitely reading the manhwa now because honestly… why did it take me this long? lol

Even with only 8 episodes, surprisingly, the pacing didn’t feel too rushed, which I appreciated a lot. Though, to be fair, I definitely wouldn’t have complained if we had gotten a couple more episodes. The main reason I’m giving it a 9 instead of a 10 is definitely the number of episodes. I really feel like the romance would’ve been developed even better if the season had at least two more episodes. It took a while for them to finally get together, so I would’ve loved more time to actually see their dating era and enjoy them as a couple for longer. (;;)

Now let’s talk about the chemistry because HELLO??? These two felt so natural together. Soon Rok is honestly perfect for Yumi. Their personalities balance each other out so well, and he’s genuinely one of the sweetest male leads ever. And this might be a spoiler, but I will NEVER recover from him saying he knew from the very beginning that he wanted to marry her because what they had already felt real to him… like excuse me, sir??? (/ω\) No wonder this man had zero hesitation proposing after only a month. How am I supposed to not fall in love with him after that? (“t• ᵕ •t`) ā™”

And again, those last two episodes?? Yeah, they completely destroyed me. They were way too sweet, way too soft, and now I already miss them so much! ಄_಄

Finding Quiet Humanity in a 1999 Superhero Comedy

There is a strange, heavy expectation that comes with the end of a millennium. The Wonderfools sets its foundation in 1999, leaning into the quiet dread and apocalypse vibes of a world waiting for an ending. It is a superhero comedy, a genre that often rushes toward loud, chaotic spectacle. Yet, beneath the Marvel-esque mutant storyline , the drama manages to find a grounded, emotional rhythm, relying on its cast to carry the narrative whenever it begins to wobble.

The Synopsis
The narrative centers on a group of misfits navigating sudden, inexplicable powers. Rather than treating these abilities merely as a gimmick, the script attempts to give each character a real emotional arc. Director Yoo In-shik carefully balances this tonal mashup, making the absurd elements of the story feel grounded within the familiar, quiet anxieties of ordinary people facing the turn of the century.

The Cast & Chemistry
The people inhabiting this world carry their roles with a delicate balance of humor and hidden exhaustion, creating an ensemble chemistry where you can tell they genuinely like each other.
- Park Eun Bin (Chaeni): She delivers a superb performance that serves as a primary reason to embark on this journey. Chaeni is loud and chaotic, yet Park Eun Bin makes the transition into revealing her character’s deep, quiet hurt look completely effortless.
- Cha Eun Woo (Unjeong): He plays a mysterious, fairy-tale boy carrying trauma he can barely articulate. It is perhaps the most disciplined and restrained work he has shown recently. Instead of playing the emotion loudly, he lets it accumulate in his eyes and tiny shifts in his breathing, making the moments he finally cracks land with profound, hard-earned weight.
- Choi Dae Hoon and Im Sung Jae: They provide a necessary lightness, elevating the comedy multiple levels as a duo of comedic relief characters.

The Good & The Bad
The Good:
- The 1999 setting is not merely an aesthetic choice; the millennium dread bleeds organically into the characters’ lives in unexpected ways.
- The production balances its elements beautifully, offering clean action while ensuring the emotional beats actually hit their mark.
- The comedy consistently lands, providing a comforting, grounded charm to the heavier emotional arcs.

The Bad:
- The serious, overarching narrative remains highly predictable, and the drama might have found more peace leaning fully into its comedy rather than attempting a Marvel-esque action route.
- The villains are forgettable, and their story arcs wrap up much too neatly for the buildup they were given.
- The narrative struggles with consistency, scaling the heroes’ powers by the convenience of the moment rather than grounding them in solid, deliberate writing.

The Verdict
If you approach The Wonderfools expecting a flawless, tightly plotted superhero epic, you will likely find yourself frustrated by the predictable serious storyline and the inconsistent scaling of powers. It is, in many ways, an imperfect journey that occasionally falls flat when it tries to be too serious.

However, if you simply sit with the story for its superb ensemble and the quiet heart beneath its comedy, it becomes a genuinely beautiful watch. It is a must-watch for those who appreciate Marvel-esque stories, and a deeply enjoyable, comforting one-time journey for everyone else.

more sad than romance

I ended up really enjoying this show but I have a few criticisms.

1. Why was the ML playing mind games with the main character when she was clearly mentally ill? Instead of getting her more help?
2. The introduction of her second personality should have been smoother. It was jarring. And too fast paced. I really thought that the storyline was screwed and the rest was going to be just this jumble of a story but luckily it came full circle! My score for this show went up more because the explanation that it was her moms inage haunting her made more sense.
3. Poor Hiro.
4. This show parades as a romance but then hits you over the head with sadness mid watch.
