From WOW to Awful

Other than the visuals and music (always amazing), it starts off as a meh, but gets better and builds up to a "wow" in the first half.

Then it takes a nose dive, everything is changed up and the chemistry is gone, it becomes boring, annoying and ridiculous. I wasnt feeling any of the supposedly sad or heartbreaking parts in the second half at all because it had all gotten too much.

For some reason, it changed again in the last few episodes, it felt like it was back to how it was supposed to be then and I enjoyed those episodes. I would bin most of the second half though.

A Fantasy romance carried by charming chemistry

I quite enjoyed Love Between Fairy and Devil for its stunning fantasy world, beautiful costumes and richly detailed settings.
Dylan Wang delivers a strong and charismatic performance as Dongfang Qingcang, blending power with moments of unexpected tenderness. Esther Yu as Xiao Lan Hua, brings a bubbly and sweet energy to her role.
Her overly cutesy acting can be a bit annoying in the early episodes but as the story progresses, it becomes more fitting and even endearing for her character.
One of the highlights of the drama is the great chemistry between the two leads. Their interactions feel natural and heartfelt, making their romance believable and enjoyable to watch. The supporting cast also adds depth and variety, contributing to the overall richness of the story.
However, the drama isn’t without its flaws. The pacing can feel slow especially in the middle episodes, which might make it harder to stay fully engaged. Xiao Lan Hua’s character doesn’t develop as much as expected and some of her emotional scenes lack impact. While Dylan Wang generally acts well, there are moments where his performance feels overly intense or dramatic. His dominant presence sometimes overshadows the female lead creating an imbalance in their dynamic.
Even though the leads have strong chemistry, the romantic development can feel a bit rushed or forced at times, which makes the emotional connection less impactful. Despite these issues, Love Between Fairy and Devil is still an enjoyable watch, especially if you’re a fan of fantasy romance with beautiful visuals and a dreamy, magical atmosphere.

This is the best xianxia i have ever watch honstly... The storyline was beautiful although i wish we could get more of the lead couple scene.. The cinematography was brilliant and the CG... just perfect... Casting was amazing, i'm very impressed with Dylan's acting during the body swap and Esther is sooooo cute without trying, Like you get what i mean? watching some cdrama could be sooooooooo annoying when the FL tries to act cute but fails :V.
Costume was super pretty i wish they sell it online and even the hair accessories especially when she was at Cangyan Sea damnnnn super prety...
I just cannot describe it, i wish they make more drama like this and DEF GONNA REWATCH LIKE 100000000 timess

Beautiful Xanxia

Went into this with low expectations, and came out of it happily surprised.

This was the most visually stunning xanxias I've watched thus far. The CGI, cinematography, outfits, makeup - everything was done beautifully. Special shoutout to the person who worked on all of the ML's outfits because I literally could not stop obsessing over how beautiful his outfits were lol.

And while I wouldn't say it had a particularly complex plot and it definitely had a ton of tropes, the acting, music, and production of the show really made the whole drama immensely enjoyable for the viewer.

Amazing!

Wow this is totally a new favorite show for me! The ost takes me back to long ballad themes. Totally amazing!

Actors are top notch as always. I thought I would be annoyed at the fl for having a childish voice, but it actually fit her and contrasted really well to his sharp demeanor. When they got in shouting matches cuteness overload. Also seconds leads are non toxic and actually supportive which is super super rare.

Camera work and editing are spot on.
I definitely recommend. 10/10 and I’m super picky on my shows.

Lovely story

Thd plot is really intriguing, abd the costumes are beautiful ( heard the actress brought 300 costumes herself !). Heaven forgive me, but I liked the Devil, the actor really git thd script perfectly. Fairy was nice and sweet, but her voice really destroyed all the romantic feeling. Very beautiful CGI, colours amazing and very exciting gof a xanxia. Nice OST, complementing the story, though I will not save any to listen to it later. I think it eon viewers in comparison with other xanxias released at the same time because of the original plot and costumes, also very clever marketing team . Worth watching !

Good one

This is much better than other devil drama I watched , I liked the story and characters , the romance was off, forced, rushed to me , i liked the comedy in start , romance part was good but not satisfying, ending is good too ,glad it's happy ending ,
in middle I didn't like it , like all chinese drama I always prefer the first half of CDRAMA the 2nd half always gets worse, boring, dragging, I wish future CDRAMA are shorter I have to watch it in 1.5x not knowing when I will quit

Everything is fate except love ?

Classic xianxia story of good and evil.

💠Great costume-!
💠 Dylan's acting has improved so much.
💠 Esther was cute as ever.
💠 Many cheesy moments but nonetheless loveable. 💠 Beautiful OST.
💠 Ending felt bit rushed but not complaining.

Romance Comedy with a bit of angst...

I never thought there would come a day when I would like body-switch scenes in a drama. I usually find those scenes cringe and cheesy, but it was done so well in this drama that I was practically looking forward to such scenes.

The cast carried the comedy part of the drama so well. I guess it's because both of the leads have a fun dynamic and personality in real life. In the heavy sad scenes of the drama, I was amazed by the improvement of Dylan Wang's acting. He really came a long way from his previous drama meteor garden. On the other hand, Yu Shi Xin's acting is a bit lackluster for me when it came to heavy scenes.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this drama. The visuals and the effects are insane. I wish that it didn't deteriorate at the end though. Also, I was hoping the story gets to showcase the new power acquired by the male lead more.

Simply put, there's much to praise in 'Love Between Fairy and Devil,' and while I don't intend to reiterate what's already been said, I'd like add my own unique opinion.

To begin with, here's a spoiler-free synopsis:

The tale follows Lan Hua, an immortal fairy who inadvertently releases Dongfang Qingcang, the enigmatic leader of the moon tribe, forging an unexpected connection that binds them. Dongfang Qingcang's quest to sever this link and unleash his malevolent forces forms the crux of the storyline.

Visuals hold tremendous weight in this genre, and 'Love Between Fairy and Devil' truly excels in this aspect. The CGI, often a point of contention in xinxia dramas, is used expertly and never too much. The meticulously crafted costumes and set design further elevate the visual grandeur of the show.

Pacing, a key factor in lengthy series, is a strong suit here. The middle portion of the drama strikes an ideal rhythm, effectively propelling the narrative forward. While the initial stages might have taken a while to gain momentum and the conclusion lingered somewhat (perhaps intentionally), the middle span felt like a breeze. The side plots deserve applause for their engaging nature, intricately woven into the main storyline. Each subplot serves a purpose, ensuring that no screen time feels wasted.

While the overarching plot adheres to familiar xianxia tropes, the execution is anything but formulaic. The drama consistently subverts expectations, infusing freshness into established themes. Whenever they introduced something I thought I had seen a thousand times before, they suprised me with a different spin on it. . The climax, although it was expected that she would sacrifice herself, still had a satisfying impact

Turning to performances, my personal bias towards Yu Shuxin and Wang Hedi may be evident, but it's hard to deny their chemistry. Yu Shuxin's portrayal of the delicate yet determined Lan Hua is commendable, particularly in emotionally charged scenes. Wang Hedi, though dubbed, conveys his character's demeanor with a fitting stoicism, and his moments of emotional vulnerability are truly compelling. His expressions convey such a heartwrenching loss - it's hard not to believe him.

The show's original soundtrack deserves a special mention. Its resonance is so profound that people unacquainted with the drama know a few songs, a testament to its captivating quality.

In conclusion, 'Love Between Fairy and Devil' is a gem worthy of acclaim. While it traverses familiar territory, its unique execution, coupled with impeccable visuals, masterful pacing, and genuine performances, sets it apart. This drama, with its alluring blend of fantasy and emotion, manages to strike chords that resonate with me to this day.

A Fantasy Romance That Soars Beyond the Clouds

Let me just start by saying — I did not expect to fall this hard for a fantasy C-drama. But Love Between Fairy and Devil completely wrecked me (in the best way possible). If you're into epic love stories, emotional depth, and magical worlds, this one deserves a spot at the top of your watchlist. ❤️

At first glance, this seems like a typical xianxia setup: a cold, ruthless demon lord (Dongfang Qingcang) and a bubbly, low-level fairy (Xiao Lan Hua) with a fated connection. But the execution? So much better than expected. 💯

It starts lighthearted and comedic, even a little silly. But the emotional depth slowly creeps in — and then punches you in the gut. The soul-binding/body-swap plot twist is used meaningfully, not just for laughs. Themes of fate, redemption, and sacrifice hit hard in the second half. The stakes feel real, the pain feels earned, and the payoff is immensely satisfying.😭❤️

Dylan Wang 🔥 blew me away. He managed to balance Dongfang Qingcang’s intimidating presence with his quiet vulnerability. His character arc — from unfeeling demon to a man who learns to love — was portrayed with nuance and restraint.

Esther Yu🌸, despite early criticism for her high-pitched voice and cutesy behavior, completely won me over. Xiao Lan Hua's growth from a timid, naive girl to a brave, emotionally resilient woman is one of the best parts of the show.

Their chemistry is electric 🫠 — filled with tension, tenderness, and raw emotion. You feel the longing and the heartbreak.

And let’s not ignore:
🛡️ Changheng – Loyal second lead who deserved better
🧠 Rong Hao – The definition of tragic friend turns chaotic

👎 What Could Be Better?
Some of the side plot resolutions felt rushed or underexplored.
Esther Yu’s performance takes a few episodes to adjust to — she’s adorable, but can come off a little too exaggerated early on.
A few secondary characters deserved more fleshing out (especially the female leads in the heavenly realm).

❤️ Final Thoughts
Love Between Fairy and Devil is more than a fantasy romance — it’s a story about transformation, sacrifice, and the pain of loving someone in a doomed world. The writing, acting, and production all come together to deliver a drama that stays with you long after the final episode.

If you love "Eternal Love", or anything in the xianxia romance genre, this one is a must-watch.

✔️ Watch it for the stunning visuals.
✔️ Stay for the soul-deep romance.
✔️ Cry for the emotional payoff.

I adore everything about this drama except the female characters—the music, the atmosphere, the costumes, the acting, and the story. because female characters are helpless, stupid, arrogant, inadequate, weak in magic, spiteful, and envious.
Esther Yu acting was absolutely terrible.
This drama was completely carried by the male characters— ML and 2ML, and 3ML - the black dragon, and the villain, each with a clear and well-written motivation.
